Weekend Roundup

Not much to roundup. I tweaked my knee just a little bit on Friday night and babied it a bit on Saturday. My Achilles on that same leg has been a little touchy for a week or so too. All of Saturday, I did the whole rest, some walking, and ice. It did the trick and by Sunday my knee had improved enough that I could do some yoga, run errands and wash floors. I’m still being, I guess the best word is, mindful of my knee and ankle. Man 30 years ago, I’d have ignored such a minor thing. Sadly, I’m at the age when just too easy to twist a knee or tear of an Achilles tendon. Plus I don’t need an injury before we move!

Otherwise I spent a lot of time talking to the kids, oh, and I took one of my daughters-in-law her birthday gift. She really seemed to like it, and I love that. I also got to play with my grand dog :-)

Oh and before I forget, thanks to everyone for reminding me about getting books from the library! I got online, found the digital program and got my ecard. I reserved the ebook I want and will begin exploring the catalogues for ebooks and audiobooks! I used to go to the library every single week when the kids were small. Time to get reacquainted with the new and improved library system!

So how was your weekend?

Ouchie. I’m glad rest and ice did the trick. You’re smart to take it easy, especially before the big move. Yay for spending time talking to the kids and getting a chance to take your daughter in law a gift. Plus, time with the grand-furbabies is always good. Also yay for rediscovering your library.

I read a lot this weekend. Hubs was working on the car, so I just stayed out of his way until he asked for help, which was only for a short while. As a reward for working on my car, I made him coffee cake and granola bars. So, now we have baked goods AND my car has a new windshield washer pump. Double yay. He also took the car for an oil change and new rear tires last week. He’s so handy. I think I’ll keep him. ;o)

Ugh on the knee and Achilles. Been there. Baby away, baby! No injuries before OR after the move! That’s an order. Yay for good b-day presents, pupper time, and visits with kids. And you’re welcome. I’m really cheap when it comes to unknown books and authors and besides, the funding for most libraries is partially determined by the number and frequency of uses so you are doing a good thing getting reacquainted!

Weekend? Oh, yeah. There was one, wasn’t there. After a bad Friday night, I managed to sleep in until just after seven. This is highly unusual. Did the usual outdoor critter thing. Tried to work, brain shorted out, ended up taking a deep nap Saturday afternoon. Watched a lot of baseball. My Cards are still 6 games in the lead of the NL Central. Yay! I finished my marathon listen of all the previous books in Ilona Andrews’s Hidden Legacy series (5 + a novella) and started the newest release. So far, so good! Their attention to the details of worldbuilding and characters amazes me. I kinda figure Ilona writes the emotional stuff and Andrew writes all the action stuff (of which where is plenty in these books) and then then they collaborate on the magic and monsters but dang. However they doo it, their voices blend seamlessly and I want to be the Gordons when I grow up. LOLOL

Other than that, I didn’t do a darn thing. Pete came in for a short time. Met Boone nose to tail before skedaddliig under the bed. No hissing or growling so there’s hope. Jake is just all “whatever” and Loki STILL isn’t sure what that weird orange thing is.

Off to Wallyworld. I’ve procrastinated long enough. Have a great week all!

Ouch! Nothing like having a bum leg on the weekend. And to have more than one injuries on said leg. You were smart to take it easy and let it recover.

It’s funny how you mentioned that 30 years ago it would have been no big deal. You would fight off the pain and go on with life. Hubs and I were talking about the same thing Saturday night. We are so strange.

It’s good to have to slow down sometimes. It made it a great way to spend time talking with the kids. You also got to see your DIL and play with the dog. You seem to have very good relationships with all of your DILs so I’m sure you picked out the perfect birthday gift.

My weekend started out with my mom in really bad shape and me not having any idea what to do. I just tried to be supportive. It must have helped because Sunday she was a bit better.

Yesterday was the memorial for Julie. It was nice. Her daughter is having her interned Wednesday as close to Joe as possible.

I’m teaching hubs how to play UNO. This guy never played card games and now Harrison wants to play. It’s funny trying to explain that you have to say UNO as FAST as possible. He just doesn’t get it.

We’ve had two cats show up out of our woods lately and Spunk is not having it. The one is a caramel tabby, skin and bones, but likes to hang out on our deck. The other is a healthy looking gray fur ball with white mittens on each leg. I think it is a he and it wants to just visit. Spunk wants them gone.

Oh, great news that you have your ecard and got your book from the library.

I hope you have a nice afternoon.

B.E, experience is teaching me to try to head off bigger injuries :-) The library is a very good thing.

Good plan to stay out of the way until your hubs asks for help. And he was paid in excellent baked goods! Wizard always considers that a good deal. Isn’t it great to have a partner who does all the things we need when we can’t do it?

Hope your week is off to a good start!

Silver it’s definitely good to get reacquainted. I still need to figure a few things out but at least the ebook I wanted is reserved or whatever they call it. On buying books, I tended to buy as many books as I could just to be supportive, but now that I’m not publishing, things have changed, so this is a good option. Not sure why I didn’t look sooner.

Sorry about the bad night, but yay for sleeping in! I totally get how rare that is. Maybe the last time I did that was around my surgery. Yay for baseball and good books! Your theory on how they split the writing makes sense, but it all feels like one voice when they are finished. Maybe they just work that seamlessly. However they do it, I’m impressed!

Pete is inching closer to at least a part time inside cat! Or he was just curious.

Do you think Loki will get jealous? He’s used to being the “baby” isn’t he? I’m thinking he might be possessive with LG too, but I really have no idea :-)

Hope Monday is being good to you!

Viki, it’s not fun to realize how much more we have to “baby” our bodies. On the other hand, I remember how old all the moving parts are and remember to be grateful it’s all in mostly working shape :-)

I can only imagine how hard it was for you to hear your mom not doing well on the phone, and not being able to get to her. But the emotional support you gave her clearly helped. I hope it gives you some comfort knowing you’re doing all you can do. So much of this is beyond our ability to control, it’s just hard. Big hugs to you and your family.

I also hope the memorial for Julie brought you all comfort and great memories. It sounds like she has a strong and loving daughter. That’s an important legacy.

LOL on teaching hubs UNO. Anything for the grandson!! Hope you both are having fun as you get him up to speed!

Spunk is clearly the Only Cat in the House :-) I hope the thin one can fatten up and the gray one sounds like he just wants a friend. But Spunk has his standards, LOL!

Hope your week is off to a good start!
