Weekend Roundup

This weekend was packed with errands. It was all small stuff at probably 10 different stores over a couple days. Because of our location, sometimes, those little errands can end up taking a ton of time because we have to go so far. I bought two “extravagant” item that’s going to irritate Wizard. One was another set of four wine glasses for $7.99, which is a steal. I probably won’t need them for Thanksgiving, but if I didn’t buy them, then for sure I’d need them. Also, I don’t want to brag, but I’m pretty good at breaking wine glasses while washing them. So that’s one “extravagant” purchase that will bug Wizard.

The second purchase is my one and only fall decoration. It’s late since we’re careering right into Christmas, but it was only $15.00!

I think he’s cute and I have a whole plan to make a table scape for Thanksgiving with him. I’ll have a second table and I’ll do something with that one too…I’ll know it when I see it :-) Of course, I’m using cheap paper tablecloths, so I don’t think Martha Stewart or any other decorating gurus are feeling threatened. Decorating is soooo not my forte. I’m just do what makes us happy.

My brother-in-law is now in the right place that has the expertise to treat him and hopefully get him well soon. We are relieved about that. None of this has been easy for him, but he’s powering through.

So how was your weekend?

You bargain hunter you! Your gnome in a wagon is adorable and cheap! And wine glasses for ab $2 apiece? That’s a steal and Wiz should know it. ;) If the weather’s nice, sometimes doing all that running around is good for one’s psyche. Sometimes.

Weekend. It was cold here so we mostly nested. The snow lasted in the shade until about noon on Saturday. We’re due more today. If you run into Mother Nature, hide the wine!

My OSU Cowboys finally won a game. They started off the season sooo good and then…blam. Part of it is our starting QB is injured and our back-up is a true freshman (and the head coach’s son.) Still, we’re better than OU, who lost. We play them in the Bedlam game this coming weekend. For the first time in years, neither team is ranked. Still, winning is a HUGE thing–in-state rivalry and all that.

I think the cats like the new shelters, though it’s hard to catch them in one. As soon as I click the locks, they are moving. Long Tom Silver aka Hissy Cat triggered the Ring Doorbell camera at 2 a.m. by getting up in the window sill and peering into the camera. Silly bugger. At least he did’t actually ring the bell.

I didn’t work this weekend. I did laundry instead. What does that tell you? 🤣🤣🤣

And that was pretty much my weekend. We have enough supplies I don’t have to hit Wallyworld until later in the week once it warms up. For now, I plan on staying inside as much as possible. Brrrr. 🥶 (That the “freezing” emoticon–lol)

I am so happy to hear that your brother in law is getting the care he needs. It’s really insane how messed up things are right now and how difficult it is to get proper care.

Excellent job shopping. I love the center pc.

I did an extravagant buy this weekend too. I bought a $2 gaudy Christmas antler headband. Hubs laughed.

Last night I set the oven on fire. I was broiling a London broil and it buckled up and hit the element. Flames 10-14 inches were coming out of the oven. Hubs freaked. I casually removed it from the oven, turned off the broiler, closed the door, and watched the flames go out on the meat. Needless to say it was CHARRED and even a bit rare in the middle for me and I almost like me beef to moo.

I sent 1/2 an hour cleaning the soot off the outside of the oven and the microwave which is attached above the oven. Quite the mess.

I have never had a fire in the kitchen before. I was happy that I was calm and functioned well. This morning hubs says to me, you know the fire extinguisher is right here on the floor next to the oven. I replied, duh – I keep it there so that it is handy. He shook his head an walked away. But heck I didn’t need to ruin the meat ;).

I sure hope you have a great day.

Silver, to my surprise, Wiz really liked the gnome wagon. It’s fun to still be surprised since 95% of the time. He was also happy about the wine glasses. Now that we have the space, it’s one of those things we like have backup of because of amazing ability to break them while washing.

Forget the wine, Mother Nature is downing tequila, or maybe my personal one time nemeses Southern Comfort. I’m sorry she skipped right over fall in your area :-(

Winning is huge. But I rolled my eyes at the head coach’s son. Still hopefully he gets some experience and seasoning quickly while your starting QB heals.

Yay for the cats liking the shelter! That should help keep them warm while mother nature is on her drinking binge. LMAO at the cats peering into the ring camera! Sorry if it woke you though.

Um…yeah, if laundry takes precedence over writing, all I can say is I feel your pain. Not that I’m writing, but I know that feeling.

Glad you’re getting a break from Walmart. Hope you’re having a great day!

Viki, thanks. I’m hoping he won’t have to spend too much longer in the hospital.

Thanks, I was stunned how much Wizard liked it.

I bet you rock your Christmas headband! Reading that made me think of the huge aerobics phase…was that the 1980s? I was alllll about high impact aerobics back then.

YIKES!!! on your oven! You were a rock star in handling that! I’m not sure I’d have been as calm. I’m so glad your oven and the microwave all survived. but I’ll bet that took some real elbow grease to get clean! Yay for the meat surviving!

Also I have to point out that you didn’t need the fire extinguisher since you were able to control the flames once you removed the meat. As long as you weren’t putting yourself in danger of getting burned, it sounds like you handled it the best way!

I really hope I’m as calm as you if I ever have a fire in my oven!

Hope your day is going well.
