I went to the post office yesterday, where I began chatting with a young woman about reading physical books versus reading e-books. She prefers physical books. I heard myself describing how much I like reading on my Kindle. Then as I got into my car, I was thinking, “Idiot! I need every physical book sale I can get just to stay published, and I’m telling people how great a Kindle is.”
And this is only like the 50th time I’ve done it. Sigh… Besides, publishing is change so fast that e-book sales are starting to carry more weight. And I do LUV my Kindle!
Anyhow, last week when I was in my funk, I picked up a book off the top of a bag of books my sister gave me. It’s THE NEIGHBOR by Lisa Gardner. I loved it! This is what romantic suspense used to be before serial killers and CSI gore took over the genre. This book drew me into the lives of all the players as I tried to figure out what happened to the missing wife. I’m not sure I totally buy the ending, but I still loved the book.
And Lisa Gardner is an excellent writer! In fact, I took a class from her that helped me craft my query letter for my first published book DATING CAN BE MURDER. She’s an excellent teacher too.
Next up, I’m going to read Laura Wright’s ETERNAL KISS. I read parts of it as she wrote it, but now I get to read it all grown up in a a real book Then I’m going to download the first Vampire Academy book. At least that’s my plan right now.
So what are you reading?

Before we get to reading, how sad is it to lose such an icon as Elizabeth Taylor? She really lived as the heroine of her own life. Quite amazing.
Now onto reading! I’m reading WHEN BEAUTY TAMED THE BEAST by Eloisa James. I’m a half to two thirds of the way through and really enjoying it. I don’t really read a lot of historical romances anymore, and now I’m wondering why? It’s a really fun book. The hero is bad tempered and shocked that the heroine doesn’t put up with his crap. Always a good time!
So what are you all reading? (And please,I’m am NOT fishing for comments on Night Magic, I really want to hear about all the great books you’re reading so I can pick my next Kindle book!)

I always want to know what everyone is reading! As for me, I’ve recently read:
Larissa Ione’s PLEASURE UNBOUND. That’s the first book in her Demonica Series. Naturally I read them out of of order and ended up reading the first one last. Why? Because that’s the way I roll, LOL! I really loved this one!
Then I read Jeaniene Frost’s THIS DIE OF THE GRAVE. These books I’m reading in order, I think. I love them all, but I don’t think this was the strongest in the series. But still totally worth reading! And one of the sex scenes caught me by surprise
After that I read Lorelei James’ LONG HARD RIDE the first in her Rough Rider Series. Caution: This book has hot sex outside of just hero and heroine. I’ve read one other of the Rough Rider books, BRANDED AS TROUBLE and am going back to the beginning of the series.
And next up is Kresley Cole’s DREAMS OF A DARK WARRIOR.
Okay, your turn! What are you reading!

I haven’t been reading paranormals lately and I REALLY miss it! I’ve been doing reading for a contest, and a lot of market-research reading. And then a friend gave me THE ACCIDENTAL BESTSELLER by Wendy Wax and told me I should read it, how could I resist? I’m reading it now. It’s really good, and if you are at all interesting in what publishing is really like, read this book! It’s a women’s fiction that follows the careers of four friends who met while unpublished, then all published. One of them has a major crises…and well, you have to read it.
But as soon as I can I’m going to do some serious paranormal reading!
So what are you guys reading, and what are you NOT reading that you wish you were?

I’m reading the page proofs for SINFUL MAGIC. This is the point where it is type set and we’re just looking for mistakes. This is hard for me because I never think the book is good enough. But this book is especially hard–I am just too close to be able to tell if it’s okay or not. I’m trying not to worry too much. I’m about 100 pages into the page proofs.
Most of my other reading is contest books or books I’m reading for work. Once I’m writing, I just don’t get to read as much. That’s something I hate, a definite downside of being a writer.
For example, I’ve been reading-for-pleasure a book on my Kindle for way more than a week now. It’s called KISS AT YOUR OWN RISK by Stephanie Rowe, a humorous (insane!) paranormal, but I’m having trouble finding the time to finish it. I’m almost there…maybe one more day of stolen moments of reading and I’ll be done. But if you like over the top funny, then you’ll enjoy this book.
What about you all? What are you reading?

My good friend, Regan Hastings, new book is out today! It’s the first book in an awesome new series about witches and their Eternals.
In the ten years since magic has reemerged in the world, witches have become feared and hunted. For weeks Shea Jameson has been haunted by visions of fire. When she unintentionally performs a spell in public, she becomes one of the hunted. Her only hope is Torin, a dangerously sensual man who claims to be her eternal mate.
“Magic, passion, and immortal warriors — this fabulous new series has it all.”
– NYT Bestselling Author Christina Dodd

As you can see I’m really excited about this book and this series! So what new or upcoming books are you excited about?

I feel guilty. Ever since I got my Kindle, I’ve been buying electronic books. Brick-and-mortar bookstores are in trouble and need my support, and what do I do? Buy electronic books. Even worse, I love reading with my Kindle.
I blame Biker Witch (my sister)–she got a Kindle first! She showed me how super cool it is. Yeah, it’s Biker Witch’s fault. As a penance, Biker Witch and I are going to have to do some serious spending in a bookstore! We’re good at that
But for now, I’m reading on my Kindle. I’m on a Harlequin Intrigue kick right now. First I read HelenKey Dimon’s NIGHT MOVES which is very plot focused. Now I’m reading WILD STALLION by Delores Fossem, which is a bit more character focused. I like the variety
Okay your turn, what are you reading?
