Wednesday Brag

So, I don’t want to brag or anything, but I’ve kept a small tomato plant alive for like, two weeks now.  With real baby tomatoes on it! It’s snacking tomatoes type (I can’t remember the real name — but the grape-like tomatoes that grow well in a planter rather than that ground). I’m impressed. So far my basil, cilantro and thyme are doing well too — but to be fair, those are pretty easy.

I truly do not have a green thumb, so I’m always happy when I haven’t murdered plant life…at least not yet. Stay tuned though, LOL! This could turn into a Murder Mystery at any time. The mystery part being “How did she murder the innocent plants this time?”

What’s your Wednesday brag?

Congrats on the grape tomato growth! If it makes you feel better, I killed a massive Bosten fern in 24 hours. Literally. And actually, it was two. I received one has a housewarming gift. I hung it in a window with filtered direct sun, as directed. Within 24 hours of receipt, the fronds had turned brown and curled up. The florist apologized and offered to replace it. The specimen looked healthy to me and I even hung it in a different window. Guess what? Yup, it died too. I just tossed it at that point and went to a garden store (not a florist) and bought one. Yup. Killed it too so it was me and not the supplier. LOLOLOL

I will brag a bit though because I have a geranium that’s probably 20 years old and I just keep taking cuttings and rooting them when it starts to die. The same goes for a pothos plant that also almost 20 years old. The secret to them? I ignore them until I remember they might need water and then I drown them. 8-O I have no idea how they’ve survived my black thumb! :lol”

🤣🤣🤣Good job on the tomato plant and the herbs. If it turns into a murder mystery I’ll read it 😊.

I have for plants on my deck right now but I’m worried. There is a mama raccoon with 5 babies that have been on the deck nightly destroying my hummingbird feeders. Last night they even flipped over the lemon tree and stole a lemon.

    Have a great afternoon!

Silver, well it makes me feel less alone! If I remember right, ferns are super sensitive, so maybe it wasn’t all you. But that’s from like 45 years ago when my sister had a lot of plants, and I don’t trust my memory that far back, LOL.

Congrats on your geranium! That’s something to brag about, you not only kept it alive but procreated!

    Happy Wednesday!

Viki, the murder mystery could happen! Now it’s getting hot here and I have to be very consistent about watering. Which is fine if life wouldn’t constantly interrupt lately my schedule, LOL.

I can see why you’re worried. While I don’t think raccoons are generally plant eaters, they are mischievous. I’d love to have seen his face if he ate the lemon!

And I’m jealous that you get to see baby raccoons. I bet they are cute when they’re aren’t busy causing trouble.
