Friday Five

TGIF! Let’s get right into sharing five random things about our week. Here’s mine:

  1. I like cookies. This feels important.
  2. Maggie can still catch a lizard! And I can still sort of jump up and down while screaming, “Drop it!” Maggie dropped it–minus one tail–and the little guy scurried under a fence. Maggie was very proud of her stellar lizard catching abilities. I’m not as proud of my reaction, LOLOL! She’s confused by me acting hysterical because I normally don’t act that way. I reassured her I wasn’t mad at her.
  3. Monday I had an appointment with a general surgeon who told me this surgery requires an ENT. By the time we got out of that office, I had a blazing headache and a furious husband. So that was fun. It’s a long story why this happened, but it absolutely will get resolved, in fact I talked to a person in my group that assured me it’s already approved. But if not, I’ll could just do the surgery myself, I mean I have a brand new set of knives and I can follow YouTube directions….  (Do I really have to tell everyone I’m just kidding???? But I do really like my new knives for cooking!)
  4. I bought a new Bluetooth thingie (it’s the technical word, LOL). I have Bluetooth earbuds that are great for listening to podcasts, books etc. But they suck for anyone on a phone call with me. It’s super staticky and they have trouble hearing me. So I’m trying the single ear device thing. BLB sent a link to one, but I chose a different one. If I was wrong, BLB will make fun of me forever! But also, if I’m wrong, I’ll never tell him, so there’s that!
  5. This weekend Wizard and I plan to see Turbo (our grandson). Otherwise I’ll work on some projects and clean. Can you believe next week if Fourth of July????

That’s my five, I’d really love to hear yours! I hope everyone has a safe and fun weekend!

Enjoying cookies is always important! Maggie the Great Hunter! It’s been awhile so I understand the freakout and the pride. Bummed for you on the medical front! I hope the GS will assist with the ENT search, if needed. Glad it’s approved, at least. 🤞🏼 Good luck with the thingie! Not sure which thingie Only uses but she loves it and it comes across clear on the phone. I’ve never had any luck with them so no recs from me. Yay for Turbo Time™! Okay, my five:

    1. I had my first cup of hot coffee this morning. I may fix a second here in a bit.

    2. Weird weather. A wind/rain storm came through about 11 pm on Tuesday. 80-100 mph straight-line winds. The storm missed us by about a mile and a half. No wind, no rain. Sadly, the Kids were not so lucky. They, along with 80K others, lost power. They stayed at home until Wednesday evening. It was 90 degrees in their house. They came down here with Dozer to cool off. 🥵

    3. One of Baseball Boy’s colleagues had travel miles and he offered some of them up for a free hotel room for Wed. night. That was awesome but there was granddog Dozer to deal with. He had a sleepover with Jake here. It was…interesting. Loki just disappeared. Jake finally stopped bristling and decided the big goof (a very shaggy GSD) could stay, as long as he stayed away from food bowls. Water bowls were fine. Then there was Pete… 🙀

    4. Pete finally came in. He was perched gargoyle-style on the bottom corner of the bed when Dozer realized he was there. Dog approached. Cat fled. OMG! Prey response trigger! Pete went under the bed. Dozer looked so comically confused I laughed. At one point, Pete was curled up next to me in his favorite spot between my hip and the edge of the bed (so I have to move him every time I wake up and have to P). Dozer came in, tried to sniff and whined a little–his “can we be friends?” whine. He finally walked away and Pete stared at me indignantly. 😾

    5. And yes, I stretched out that tale because once again, I am stymied for a fifth thing. Not much is going on in my world. Oh! I think I finally have my desk, monitor, and keyboard positioned correctly so I can actually read what’s on the monitor. Hopefully, this will preclude future stiff necks and shoulders, back cramps, and eye strain. As a result, I wrote almost 1K words yesterday! Yay! 😁

Gonna be hot here so no plans other than the usual hanging around the house this weekend. Have a great one, all! 🥰

    1. Cookies are VERY important!
    2. Good job Maggie the Lizard Slayer. Sorry you scared her when you cried out.
    3. The medical system is infuriating.
    4. I hope they work and I wouldn’t tell BLB either 🤣.
    5. Have a great time with Turbo. No, I can’t believe Thursday is Independence Day.

1a. I got hubs to go for the MRI yesterday but he couldn’t do it. They wouldn’t give him anything to make it easier either. They said it has to come from the Dr. and taken before hand. Guess we’ll try again another time.
2a. Had to make an appointment for hubs with his primary doc. He missed is yearly. I wonder if I’ll have to pay for this round of blood work since he just a a draw for the Cleveland Clinic. We’ll see.
3a. Poor Spunk. His electric water fountain is broken and I can’t find one like it. He’s finicky so wish me luck in getting one he’ll use.
4a. My Brother and SIL are in OH this weekend for the car races. It’s also how they are celebrating their 30th anniversary which was the beginning of the month. They’re going to stop by on their way home Monday. I’m looking forward to the visit.
5a. C and C are going to take us to dinner tomorrow (we pay). It will be real close so hubs won’t be too stressed.

    Have a wonderful weekend.

Silver, the new Bluetooth earpiece thingie works! I’m happy for now. And the medical front, this whole thing has been an ordeal. I’m sure you have your own stories to tell on that front :-) I am worrying a bit about Wizard (probably another thing you understand — the spouse suffers as much or more from all the worry). But lets move on!

    1) Yay Coffee is back in your life!!! Hope it was as good as you hoped!
    2) Oh!! Yes I saw that storm moving into your area on the weather channel. Every now and again, Wizard will land on that channel, and I had your city and state mentioned and looked up. Glad you’re all right, but sorry Only and family suffered power outtage. It’s a big thing to deal with after a couple hours.
    3) Sounds like Dozer as a houseguest wasn’t pre-approved by Jake and the kitties :-) I can’t blame Jake for being protective of his food bowl. I’m sure you handled it well. Any changes tend to stress animals out, and that filters right down to the humans.
    4) Aw Dozer sounds like a sweet dog. But Pete wasn’t having it, LOLOL!! You are so patient haven’t to move Pete every time you get up! I’ve never slept with a cat, so I don’t know the proper protocols.
    5) That’s a fifth thing! Getting your setup to allow you to write with minimal or no pain is critical! I fully approve!

Stay inside with A/C and have a good weekend!

Viki, Thanks Viki! We are looking forward to seeing Turbo. And yeah, the medical system is upsetting, and I’m spending just as much time reassuring those who love me as dealing with the medical stuff. But you probably know what that’s like too. Oh and the headset works, so I’m happy!

    1) I wondered if hubs would be able to do the MRI. I’m annoyed the referring doc didn’t prescribe something to help him. I’m sorry you have to try it again.
    2) I hope the primary is able to use the recent blood draw you for hubs’s appointment. It gets really old doing repeated draws and paying for it.
    3) Oh no! It’s actually stressful for us trying to find the right product our pets will use. I get it! Fingers crossed!
    4) Hope you have fun with your brother and SIL! Is this the brother who had the recent health issues?
    5) Dinner would be fun with C and C. Hope it’s a stress free evening and hubs will be able to relax and enjoy with you.

    Have a great weekend!

    1) I’ve been celebrating my own Independence Day for a couple weeks now. It’s awesome.
    2) Words are flowing but my stamina sucks.
    3) Ditto for doing anything active. I’m trying but my stamina is holding me back. baby steps.
    4) We have fawns! They’re so tiny right now and super cute.
