Weekend Roundup

We had a nice weekend. Some key points:

I bought the second book in a paranormal series that I said I wasn’t going to buy. I bought it before we went to Hawaii so I’d be sure to have enough books to read. Anyone else worry when they’re traveling that they might run out of things to read :-) Anyhow, I wish I’d listened to my instincts and NOT bought it. I canNOT get into this second one after days of trying. The reason I knew buying the second book would be a mistake is because at the end of Book One, the heroine ended up back in her bedroom where the first book began. The beginning to book two is reading about a bunch of brooding in both main characters and we’re waiting for heroine to, once again, “snap out of it” and start fighting. I feel like I’ve already read this storyline in book one. But I deserve it for not listening to myself! I hate when I do that.

Sunday we went to Turbo’s house and visited. It was lowkey and fun. The effort to get there was a total pain for a few reasons, however once we got there, Turbo was happy and full of hugs and chatter. That made all the hassle of the morning worth it! Turbo and family will be going on an amazing trip to Rome and then a cruise to a few spots. I’m excited for them. I would love to go to Italy some day, but right now, this is their moment to go and enjoy!

I’ll back up to Saturday for this story. While eating lunch on Saturday, I told Wizard I was going to go to a candy store. He planned to stay home and do something or other. Seconds before I left, he decided he wanted to go with me. While I looked for the perfect candy for Turbo (Candy shaped like Lego blocks that you can build and eat fit the bill!), Wizard found himself two containers of candy. I was highly amused by this. Wizard has really developed a sweet tooth since he retired. And Turbo liked his candy-gift. Hilariously, his dad (my son) tried to get it from me before I gave it to Turbo for some silly reason, but I easily bypassed Dad’s sad attempts to get between me and my grandson! Also — this is only funny because I told Turbo he couldn’t open it until his dad said it was okay, and he agreed. I wouldn’t actually break the rules, just bend them more to my liking :-)

And lastly, tomatoes!! Here’s a quick pic of my first crop of bing tomatoes from my little plant!

How was your weekend?

Sounds like you had a fun weekend. Yay for candy shopping, Turbo Timeā„¢, cool kids (even if they’re all grown up and parents themselves), and…well, tomatoes, I guess. I’m allergic so hard to get enthused but I know people love them and love to grow them and for you, that’s a BIG deal. ;)

My weekend was like…totally dull and boring. And I’m not just saying that. It was hot so I barely poked my nose outside beyond feeding outdoor cats and refilling the birdbath. I watched very little baseball, I watched a little TV, I read some on the WIP and did a few small edits, but I did listen to a couple of JD Robb books–the one that released last time and then rolled into the new release (that isn’t all that new except to me. ) I just started it yesterday and so far, pretty good.

Today is the start of Ju-Lo-Wri-Mo so BE and I are committed to writing new words and, for me, editing, every day this month to get us back into the writing groove. That’s net on my agenda after I get off the internet. ;)

    Have a great week!

I am so sorry that the second book turned out to be as bad as you had thought – bummer.

Those tomatoes are perfect. I wouldn’t have had the strength to put them down for photos. They would have been popped into my mouth as soon as I picked them.

I think Wizard is like most men when they retire and begin to love sugar treats. I have no idea why but I have noticed it quite a bit.

Sounds like a wonderful time with Turbo. Grandma get to do things like that as log as the rules stay in place. How exciting for the family to go to Rome.

My weekend was nothing special. We were able to get to dinner Sat. Hubs had major issues but we got through them. Dinner was fast but good.

Hubs was supposed to fast for the blood draw today. I kept telling him (at least 8 times.) no food, drink, or vitamins. Well, he did it anyway. With the holiday being Thursday the lab isn’t open all week. We are going to try again tomorrow.

Harrison’s dog is SO cute. It is a Lilac Jack Russel Golden retriever mix.

I hope you have a great day!

Silver, thanks and I’m sorry about the tomato allergy. I can see why you are under-enthused :-)

It’s smart to stay inside when it’s that hot. It’s over a 100 (according to my car temp) today. I tried to run errands after lunch and only made it through one — too hot! It’s the best time to read or listen to audiobooks!

Yay for Ju-Lo_Wro-Mo!!! Hope it winning month for you and BE! Show up and write!!!

    Happy Monday!

Viki, I ate one yesterday but hope to make a salad for dinner. Or I’ll eat them as a snack.

Yep I noticed that too about retired men. Might be a bit of boredom.

I try to respect the rules. Thankfully Turbo’s parents are willing to give grandparents a little leeway. We’ll see if my granddaughters parents will be the same :-) For the record, I think they will.

I’m so sorry about the major issues during dinner, but it’s a good that they were fast to minimize it. Still I know it’s hard for all of you to deal with.

Dang, that’s frustrating on hubs eating despite the reminders. And yeah, it’ll be a challenge to get anything not previously scheduled done this week. I hope you get a break and can get it done.

That makes me smile thinking of Harrison with his new puppy!! Sounds like a cutie! Those two are going to have so many adventures together, and I love that!

Hope your week is off to a good start!
