New To You Wednesday

When I was at Trader Joe’s last week, I bought a watermelon. Then I cut it and discovered a yellow watermelon. I never knew!!! How did I get this many decades into my life and not know about yellow watermelons? Wizard and I loved it.

And that reminds me, trying new things is important. Even when it’s by accident, LOL!

So how about you? Did you know about yellow watermelons (I’m pretty sure the answer is yes and I’ve been living under a rock!). And what have you tried that’s new to you lately?

Happy Wednesday!

Huh! I grew up 20 miles from the “Watermelon Capital of the World”–according to the Rush Springs Chamber of Commerce when they advertise the Watermelon Festival. I have never heard of a yellow watermelon either. Weird. But glad you two enjoyed it. :)

I’m not big on trying new foods because, yeah, I’m weird like that. And I haven’t been out and about much or had the energy to try new stuff out in the world, so I’ll go back a bit and share a find: Arm & Hammer Power Sheets. This is detergent in a box rather than a big ol’ plastic jug. One box is at least 60 loads (a sheet can be halved for small loads) and the box takes up much less room–on my washer and especially in the landfill. The scent is fresh and it cleans our clothes. So that’s my “try something new” for the day.

    Happy Hump Day! 🥰

I’ve heard of yellow watermelons, but I’ve never tried one. Watermelon and i don’t get along. I tried KitKat ice cream this past week (finished the ‘half-gallon’ today, as a matter of fact). It was okay, but not quite the taste sensation I was hoping for. Your mileage may vary. ;o)

I have known of yellow watermelon for a long time but have only had it once. That was a while ago too and I think it was expensive. It was also nicely sweet, not over powering.

I learned about the Ruby glow Pineapple a couple months ago. It’s a deep pink and from what I have read very sweet and tasty. If I weren’t watching Zarna Garg, she’s a very funny comedian, I would still not know about it.

Zarna is almost ALWAYS cutting up a pineapple during her posts and a couple times she had this red pineapple but didn’t say a word about it. When I researched them, I found it took 16 years to develop it. And I nearly dropped out of my chair when I saw that the average cost is $400/melon.

To Silver’s A&H detergent – it first came out when I was a kid. It was very inexpensive (we were dirt poor and living in an 8′ X 35′ trailer) so my mom bought it. The very first time we used it I broke out in a rash. Mom didn’t think anything of it. The next time we used it, my rash was at least twice as bad. Turns out I was very allergic to it. Back to ERA we went.

Today I took hubs to the BMV to get his new license with added restrictions and to renew mine for 8 years. Hubs was difficult in answering their questions but they were very nice and let me help out. The lady that took care of his license also took care mine. She was so pleasant and nice.

Yesterday morning when I checked email Spectrum had sent me a thank you for adding to my services and then another email with the confirmed change and price increase. I was on the phone with them at 8:30 and their rep was super great too. Very nice and cheerful. After fixing my account back to where it belonged she noticed that I wasn’t under any promotions. She took a look and was able to decrease my bill $30/month for a year. I was pleased.

Talked to hubs doctors office again and this time I was told that they don’t work directly with the peer on peer review. That there is a board for that and our request for authorization was with them and they would handle insurance. She said it could take a few weeks. The medical system is such a joke at getting anything done. It’s like dealing with the government.

Have you had any success yet with getting everything in order so you can have your surgery! I sure hope so.

    Have a fantastic afternoon!

Silver, well now I don’t feel so bad if you didn’t know about yellow watermelon too! As for me, I’m willing to try most fruits and vegetables but other foods I’m cautious with because my stomach is an unpredictable jerk :-)

Wow those would be great for me! I need to look for those Arm and Hammer sheets. As it happens I use Arm and Hammer liquid laundry soap. But those sheets would be so much easier to store on the overhead shelf. Another great tip for me, thanks!

B.E., I totally understand not getting along with some foods. I love garlic, but it’s mean to me :-)

See, Kit Kat is the problem, Go with Twix bar ice cream!!! I’m totally team Twix, and so my grandson, LOL. Anyway, I’m glad you were able to mildly enjoy the Kit Kat ice cream, but sorry it wasn’t the flavor explosion you were looking for. I hate when that happens.

Viki, the price was good at Traders, but I didn’t know I was buying yellow watermelon — it looks the same to me. This was a good/fun surprise.

I haven’t heard of Rubyglow Pineapple! That’s totally new to me. And at $400.00 each, I will never know what they taste like, LOL.

Skin reactions are never fun! I’d stay away from that laundry soap too, if I were you.

$30.00 a month savings is a very good day! And people being nice make the day even better. I know I appreciate people being kind and helpful so much.

Yay for getting both your licenses taken care of. I don’t know how Ohio does their restrictions, CA’s is restricted license for mild cognitive issues, and revokes it for moderate and up from there. But I suspect that’s dependent on a doctor actually reporting the results to the DMV and we know how the medical system works.

Speaking of the medical system, I am frustrated for you (and me!) They are making a bigger deal out of getting this MRI done than it needs to me. It’s ridiculous.

My story is convoluted, but from what I was told today, UCI is only waiting for one more thing to clear my referral and get an appointment. Today I have just kept super busy and other than one phone call i had to make, I’m not thinking about it.

Hope you have a good evening!
