Weekend Roundup

So the weekend was good. Well mostly.

Saturday morning we met youngest and his wife at the auto museum/ winery. The place was so cute! Amidst sweeping fields of grape vines were three buildings with pathways and stairs to reach them. So lovely and peaceful.

The first building was a quaint store with so many things to look at that each time we were in it, we found new things. Totally fun. Tucked into that was a little winery. None of us were interested in wine tasting (too early, and we were all driving), but on the way out, Wizard and I bought a few bottles.

Then we followed a path through grapevines and beneath the warm blue skies to the first building complete with an old fashion gas station out front. There we met that highlight of the day — a friendly cat! Me and daughter in law were smitten, petting him and telling him he was beautiful (because he totally was!) while the two men headed inside muttering things like, “We’re not here to see a cat.”. Then we went in to see rows of beautiful kept classic cars, and an assortment of other classic electronics like older computers to work on cars (don’t judge, I’m not a car person) along with TVs and stereos. We all enjoyed it.

Then Wizard and I sent youngest and daughter in law off to see the top building as it wasn’t accessible to Wizard. Well that was my plan. Wizard insisted I go with them and he’d be fine. So I did (because he means it) and we climbed a hill and stairs to the finally building with a wrap around porch. In the back was the wine/barrel room and we couldn’t go in there. But we looked in like super secret agents :-) Then we went inside the actual building to see more immaculately kept classic cars, some with less than a 100 miles on them. Amazing. Youngest solved all the questions about how they got the cars in there (hidden garages) but none of us are sure how they got one car up to a platform up in a corner of the building. We then discovered a Barbie room filled with Barbies because that makes sense in a car museum, LOL. Daughter in law loved it. I asked daughter in law if she’d be surprised to learn I was more of a Tom Boy as a kid and had zero interest in Babies? She was not surprised :-) However I went through with her because I love her and she was interested. Youngest got about a foot and a half into the room before he remembered something (anything!) else he had to do.

After that, we found Wizard and went back down to the main building where we hung out and did more window shopping, and ended that portion of our fun that day with Wizard buying the bottles of we wine we chose (without tasting which is pretty risky).

After that, we all went to lunch. We had fun and talked nonstop, but the food was the only day’s disappointment at a normally reliant restaurant. Well, we can win at everything, now can we?

Later than evening Wizard went into our bedroom for something,  and I opened a Petit Syrah wine that we’d bought. Um, I had a bit of an uncorking adventure that sprayed red wine on the wall, floor and me. That was a new experience and I’ve opened quite a few bottles of wine. Wizard came into the kitchen, saw the newly sprayed walls, floor and my white shorts, then fixed a look on me. “Did you sneeze?”

I couldn’t help it, I doubled over with laugher. My bloody noses are a little scary lately, but also, funny as heck in some ways. (Note: they are probably just allergies and nothing to worry about). Regaining some self control, I pointed at the wine. “Blame him!”

We cleaned up, did what we could to keep the cork out of the wine and failed. But then came the moment — Tasting the pricy and surprisingly difficult to uncork wine. We both had some trepidation wondering if we’d just invested in colored vinegar.

But it was wonderful!!! Full body, nice balance with a good backend finish for my very amateur tastebuds.

So that was Saturday. Sunday Wizard went racing and I stayed home with plans to workout, wash floors and begin the sourdough process. In the process, I hit my the back of my hand on a drawer pull and bruised it. That’s just annoying. But Maggie’s bladder issues appear to be worsening and she seems a bit restless.  I’ll feel better after she sees the vet on Wednesday.

How was your weekend?

Yay for fun times at the winery / car place. LOL about the Barbie room inside, though. Who would’ve guessed. Sorry to hear about your hand and poor Maggie. :hugs:

The weekend here was fine. We watched a lot of Olympics and I read a lot. I also got some writing done and a bit of baking, so it’s all good. Then we found out this morning that our phone is out again. Same as last time. Derp. The ticket is in now and they’ll get to it tomorrow. Double derp. But the sun is shining and I’m going for a walk now. Have a great day!

Seeing if I can post yet.

Wow! Sounds like Saturday was wonderful. I thought the Barbie thing was funny too. I can BLB putting one foot in and backing out.

The wine sounds fabulous. Sorry about the snafu in opening it. I hope the wine didn’t stain anything.

My prayers are with Maggie. Hopefully it’s something easy to treat like a UTI.

The weather was beautiful this weekend. C and C went with us to the little Mexican place 5 mins away Saturday night. It was good but hubs had issues around 5 am. I think we will not be having Mexican anymore :(.

I hope your week will be a great one!

“Did you sneeze?”   You two are perfect for each other! Saturday sounds totally wonderful and awesome time spent with youngest pair. Too bad the food was subpar but the company and conversation likely made up for it.

LG decided I needed a chauffeur for two quick errands on Saturday–lettuce, bread, milk, and lime juice at the local grocery and bird seed across the street at Ace. Jake got to harness up and do his job so he was happy and also happy to see his favorite Ace clerk whose been out on sick leave too. She had bypass surgery which I found out about Saturday. We were teasing about surgical scars. That was LG’s turn for an  but Jake gots lots of pets from her.

Sunday was laundry. I did all the loads, did the “clean washer” cycle and caught up on winter linens (heavy comforter and throw blanket) that were sitting in the extra basket waiting for me to get round to it.

I did manage some new words both days so JuLoWriMo continues. I’m disappointed that I’m further behind than I’d like but I’m still moving forward so there’s that. 🤞🏼 I can have it ready to publish by the end of August or at least Labor Day.

    Have a great week!

B.E., thanks on all! Maggie has seemed better today. And I realized her appointment isn’t until next week. Logically I know it may be a female aging problem, but my brain likes to make up more dramatic stuff. We’ll see. And either way I want to see if we can do more because she doesn’t like it.

Glad you’re watching the Olympics. I’m too restless to do it these days, but I used to really enjoy it. Read, writing and baking are always great choices!

Seriously on your phone line??? This whole thing is crazy. Neighbors are having problems too if I remember right. It sounds to me like the phone company doesn’t want to fix the root problem :-( I’m sorry!

I really hope you enjoyed your walk!!

Viki, I’m sorry the blog was giving you a hard time. It’s frustrating.

I got the spray stains out of my shorts using the hydrogen peroxide track I learned from you and Silver. The wine is more than a decade old, so stuff like that will happen. Still was funny/frustrating in the moment!

It could be a UTI but she’s had on and off problems with this for awhile and is on meds. Maybe it’s age. As long as she doesn’t show more symptoms I’ll wait until her vet appointment.

Yay for enjoying the food with C & C, but so sorry hubs reacted to it. That sucks. I know it’s not always easy to be limited by my diet issues, so I get how disappointing and even tiresome it can be.

My week is starting off okay and I hope yours is off to an even better start!

Silver, Wizard’s question cracked me up too. I’m pretty sure he walked out of the room and all was well, and walked back a minute later to a full redecoration job — it had to be confusing. But I’m talented like that :-) Also everything cleaned up pretty easily so no big deal.

LG is still feeling protective, I love that. Yay for Jake! He’s a working dog and needs everyone to know he’s a good boy! Wow on the clerk and bypass. That’s not an easy surgery either. Bet she can relate to the challenges of regaining strength you’ve been dealing with.

You were on fire doing laundry! It’s nice to feel like we actually finish it all…for maybe 12 hours, LOL.

Sounds to me like you’re writing/editing as a dang good pace! But I do understand wanting to be further along. But Kudos for showing up everyday and doing the work!

    Happy Monday!
