TGIF! Are you out shopping on Black Friday (which now seems like two weeks long!)? If not and you’re here at the blog, it’s time to share five random things about your week. Here’s mine (all Thanksgiving related because I’m writing this right after everyone left and can’t remember the rest of the week!):
- Thanksgiving went pretty well and everyone seemed to have a good time. It was semi-organized chaos, loud and messy, so it turned out right
- One of my favorite moments: Turbo (he’s 6 1/2 now) brought one of his “baby” books to read to eleven week old Baby Girl. It was so danged cute! The baby loved the bright colors and happily let Turbo read her the whole book. It made my heart swell. It’s especially touching because in general, Turbo is a tornado of activity, but he slowed down and gentled because he wanted to read to his baby cousin and it was all his idea.
- I stressed the first half of the turkey cooking, adjusted the temp down 25 degrees, and then…it all worked. Whew. It was the first year I made a compound butter out of ghee (clarified butter with no lactose) and covered the turkey in it. It really worked out well! And fun moment — one of my daughters in law was making gravy at the stove next to me while I was doing green beans. At one point, she reached over and added salt and pepper as I was cooking, and another time adjusted my heat. It’s rare to find someone you can cook with that well, and truthfully, she’s a better cook than me, so I happily accepted her help.
- All the food was great, my daughters-in-law and sister all brought dishes and helped out overall. I appreciate the help so much, and it makes the meal so much more of a family effort which is a nice feeling.
- Maggie is wiped out! But funny story — she heard Youngest’s car in the driveway and lost her mind in joy. She went and waited by the door for him, and barked impatiently when he didn’t come in fast enough. But by the end of the evening, she was in her bed in a bedroom, and away from all the commotion. She’s not as young as she used to be, LOL! It’s okay, though, because neither am I!
That’s my five, now I’d love to hear yours. I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving and you all have a great weekend!

1. Sounds like a normal holiday, fun and chaotic 😉.
2. Oh how sweet💗. I can picture Turbo reading to baby girl. Love it.
3. The turkey sound great. It must have been nice working together in the kitchen.
4. It’s nice that all helped out.
5. Maggie must have had a wonderful time.
1a. The Beef Wellington turned out great.
2a. Hubs was not willing to try anything but the meat. It’s awful when they regress like that.
3a. Only shopping I did was stopped at Aldi on the way to the bank to pick up a turkey loin for dinner tonight. It’s in the oven now.
4a. Harrison and parents were over today. Chris left work early to come visit too. They wore hubs out.
5a. I may put up the tree this weekend. Haven’t confirmed with Chris yet. He brings it up from the basement and helps me put it together.
Have a great weekend and if you did any black Friday shopping, I hope you got super deals.

Viki, thanks it was fun! And the grandkids are such a joy.
1) I’ve never had it but hear it’s amazing. You’re such a good cook!
2) Yes it is both everyone involved.
3) Better not to go out in this. I just went to the Ulta (makeup) store by my house. It was a quick trip and I got a good deal on one item I needed!
4) I hope you had a good time too with Harrison and his family, plus Uncle!
5) Hope Chris has time to do it. We’re considering doing it Sunday — we’ll see.
Enjoy your weekend!

Sorry I missed Friday Five! Sounds like y’all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Soooo cute about Turbo and Baby Girl. I could die from the sweet! And Maggie?!?! How cool that she recognizes the sound of Youngest’s vehicle and knows it’s him! Also could die from the cute!
I have a sinus infection that developed into a chest cold so was mostly miserable but still managed rolls and pie and seeing the extended family on Thursday. Food good, coming home to bed was better! We took Jake–a first for the HUGE (18 people) family gathering and he was a jewel, as usual. Other than that, I was pretty much in bed last week! Obviously feeling a little better since I’m checkin in on Sunday.

Silver, I’m so sorry you’re sick! Sinus infections are a special kind of misery. I’m impressed you got the pie and rolls made while battling that. And I’m glad you got to go to T-Day despite being under the weather.
Of course Jake was a good boy! I bet he enjoyed the attention too.
Hope you continue to feel better! Get lots of rest.
