Yep, the weekend came and went with nothing exciting to report. I felt Grinchy on Sunday, but that will probably pass by today. It’s just achiness and a bit of insomnia. Plus I’m not resting my ankle much because…who has time for that? I did minimal cleaning, wrapped gifts, went to Walmart and spent and obscene amount on baking stuff. I’ll have flour, sugar, butter and chocolate left over, but hopefully won’t run short as I bake as I sometimes have to pivot recipes for various reasons and wanted to make sure I have what I need. I’m still looking for cranberries, pistachios and of all things, candy canes.
This morning I’m going to the dentist, then a couple errands on the way home, and get I’ll started on baking and writing out a few Christmas cards. I’m feeling oddly lazy and not motivated to bake, but I’ll probably get into it once I start. Also no one is making me do this, so the only pressure I feel is self imposed
I also need to come up with a dessert for our family party on Saturday…suggestions welcome but I’m not too worried about it yet. That I can conjure up pretty quickly if needed.
That was my weekend, how was yours?

Not much going on here either. The only thing even kinda exciting is the thunderstorm we’ve been having since the wee hours. Intermittent boomers plus sporadic heavy rain. Wee.
A quick and easy dessert is dump cake. Canned pie filling, boxed cake mix, butter. I don’t remember the exact measurements, but there are a ton of recipes for it online. Good luck and have fun!

Totally vegged this weekend. LG went to Stormy’s soccer match Friday night (too cold & windy for me) but he left at half-time. The kiddo had 2 matches on Saturday but LG was still down from a bad flair so we stayed in. We did make the Sunday noonish match and they won! Yay! Other than that, we did nada. We meant to watch “Red One”, the new Dwayne Johnson/Chris Evans Christmas movie that’s streaming on Prime. We kept falling asleep early. Maybe tonight.
Easy dessert? Check my blog tomorrow for the recipe for Christmas Trifle. It’s so easy even Hannah can make it and we all know what a bad cook Hannah* is. Basically, it’s red velvet cake mix, instant vanilla pudding (and green food coloring OR pistachio pudding), and Cool Whip, in layers. It comes out pretty and you can decorate it with store-bought Christmas cookies. Have a great week!
*Hannah is the former soldier, mate to alpha Wolf Mac, and it’s a running joke in the Moonstruck books that she is a lousy cook.

Your poor ankle. We all get the – “who has time for that.” I do hope that it’s feeling a bit better.
I often make frozen grasshopper pie for a quick dessert – https://savortheflavour.com/no-bake-frozen-grasshopper-pie/
I wrapped all the gifts I had. Still missing three gifts. Two have invalid tracking and the other is the pan that I returned and still have heard nothing about the replacement .
I hope your day is going well.

B.E., hope the thunderstorms have stopped!
The dump cake is a good idea, I’ve seen them on Youtube. I think we’ve decided to order a pie and I’ll make something gluten dairy free that will for youngest that’s also chocolate for Turbo I’ll do the extra work for Turbo.
Hope your week is going well.

Silver, congrats to Stormy and his team for the wins! It’s good to have veg-weekends. Hope you got around to watching the movie.
I haven’t been online (baking!!) but will check as soon as I get a minute. I haven’t made a trifle but it’d be fun. I think this time I’m going for a pie and fun cupcakes. I’m starting to feel like if I stay on task, I might get it all done. But a Trifle could be fun for New Years or another event.
Happy Tuesday! (I’m answering late)

Viki, my ankle is healing pretty well, thanks! Each day is better and that’s what I like to see. Getting old brings some challenges, that’s for sure.
OMG that grasshopper pie looks amazing! I need to keep that in mind. It’d be great in the summer too!
Sheesh you’re definitely having challenges with gifts, tracking and returns. It’s so frustrating! My only glitch resolved so far. I hope things get better that way. But yay for getting stuff wrapped. I only have to wrap Maggie and she really doesn’t care. Any bag will work for her, LOL.
Today (Tuesday) I feel like I’m finally getting a handle on everything, so yay. I really hope this week solves your gift issues! Have a great evening!
