Weekend Roundup

It was a good weekend. I’m writing this while Superbowl is on TV (on Sunday…obviously) so I have no idea how that ends :-)

Friday was a nice day because I didn’t have to be somewhere for the first time that week. My hairdresser had canceled by hair appointment after she had a reaction to a necessary medical procedure. We rescheduled it for Saturday, so no big deal. I made peanut butter chocolate chip cookies to take to my nephews on Saturday and then, I scored eggs for half the price I usually pay at Trader Joes. I was weirdly excited by that, LOL.

Saturday, my hair appointment was cancelled again. I’m getting less than thrilled although I understand this is out of her control. But it would be nice if they’d offered to have someone else step in…oh well it’s just hair. And resembling like a skunk is a look, right? Saturday afternoon we went to my nephews to have tacos and celebrate his birthday. It was a nice evening! I enjoyed it.

Sunday, Wizard went racing and I did a bunch of stuff, including a two mile walk with Maggie, washing floors and baking bread. While running errands, I got a text picture of youngest and his wife on my front porch. Sigh…if they’d warned me, I’d have been home! However once I finished everything, I went over their house and we hang out for a while. Youngest’s birthday is coming up in a week so we talked about doing something Saturday night for that. He’s deciding where he’d like to go to dinner (or have me make dinner). Then I came home to find Wizard home from racing and watching the Superbowl and now you’re all caught up!

How was your weekend?

Yay for not having to be anywhere and half-price eggs! (With egg prices the way they are, I’m excited about it, too.) Bummer about your hair appointments getting cancelled. I’m sure you look beautiful anyway. Yay for getting to see your nephew and celebrate with him. LOL about missing the kids while you were out. That’s what they get for doing a drop-in. Happy early Birthday to BLB!

The weekend here was quiet, as usual. I didn’t do much after overdoing it on Friday. I did make carrot cake for the first time ever. It turned out pretty yummy, but there’s room for improvement. Next time, I might add raisins and maybe a little brown sugar in place of some of the white. We’ll see.

Sorry about the hair cancellations. And sorry your hairdresser is having health problems. Hopefully you get “beautified” soon. That’s funny about the crossed visiting wires. Like, Yo Kid! Call or text before you come! Glad y’all connected anyway. Yay for Maggie walk and cheap eggs! Hope the nephew had a good B-day, yay for Wiz racing, and Happy Early B-day to Youngest!

We went to soccer Saturday. Stormy played well but the referring was totally…off. You know it’s bad when BOTH sides of parents are fussing.

I worked around activities. I’m still fighting Word–this time on formatting paragraph stuffs and the fact that Iffy decided I needed to had a big ol’ scene at the end of the book necessitated a second epilogue. Silly Muse.

Watched the pre-game stuff while I worked and then watched the game and commercials. We had brisket, garlic parmesan new potatoes, fruit and salad (NOT fruit salad–lol) for dinner. I’m disappointed the Chiefs lost but the commercials were all pretty good. MUCH better than last year. The one disappointment was Budweiser aired the shortened version of the Clydesdales. Still a good one but the long version is way better.

Okay, time for me to get back to work. I keep falling down rabbit holes and I’m behind on my to-do list. Have a good week, all!

I’m sorry about your hair appointments being cancelled. It’s understandable but frustrating too. Like you, I’m surprised that they didn’t suggest another stylist. I totally agree with the reverse skunk look. I have it once a month too 😄. I like setting a trend 🤣.

Tacos and birthday celebrations sound wonderful!

The egg score would excite me too. I heard on our news last week that Ohio has the greatest number of outbreaks of the bird flu of all the states ☹️.

I hope BLB picks a place you all love for his birthday dinner. I’m sure he will. Are you making his cake?

MY weekend was normal. I didn’t go shopping yesterday at Kohl’s. I stopped by for a quick look today after a fast trip to Walmart.

Yes, I shop very fast at Walmart. I know exactly where things are, grab them and check out.

I hope today is a good one for you!

B.E., thanks the b-party for my nephew was low key fun, which is how I like it as we can all talk. The eggs were a definite win :-) My hair is annoying, but I forget about it once I leave the house so all good.

Oh yeah, overdoing it costs us more these days, doesn’t it! Yay on the carrot cake. I’ve never made one, so I’m not a lot of help there. But I’m sure it’d come out fine — maybe a bit more of a coffee cake texture but that would work in carrot cake, I think. I know people love raisons in carrot cake. (I don’t care for raisons in baked goods, but that’s all my oldest brother’s fault and not rational. He convinced me when I was really young raisons were dried bug eggs so….yeah…I’m forever scarred).

Hope you’re Monday is going well!

Silver, it was funny — BLB tends to show up when we aren’t home. But it’s not a big deal, he’s just stopping by after running errands. Plus it’s hilarious that he’s baffled every single time on where we could possibly be. As if our lives froze into place after the kids grew up and we just wait from one of them to come over.

Hmm, sounds like both Iffy and Work are getting in your way! But you’ll conquer them both.

Dinner sounds good! I read that as fruit AND salad not fruit salad. So you were clear! Glad you enjoyed the commercials. I ignored it and Wizard complained during the commercials, mostly because his team was losing and he was not please.

Sorry for the frustrating referee. I know how aggravating that is. But yay Stormy for playing well!

    Beware of rabbit holes!!!

Viki, the place I go for my hair has had a lot more stress going on and it’s wearing me down (and them for sure!). I’m going to make a decision on what to do tomorrow. I know this isn’t a big deal (it’s just hair) so I’m not letting it bug me too much.

I’ve heard that exact thing about Ohio too. I’m assuming it’s because my news feeds know I like medical stuff so it likes to serve it to me :-) I hope they can get a handle on this bird flu. While still not a major threat to humans, the potential is there if all the factors happened to line up. Guess we’ll see over the next few months.

I’ll probably make a cake, but I’m still trying to nail down details with youngest. I offered four places we all like to choose from so that’ll be fine :-)

Did you see much at Kohl’s when you went? I went today and there was very little stock. Maybe it’s just the store I go too.

Your smart to get in and out quickly at Walmart! Glad you’re organized! I often go there looking for things that takes time then regret it when I end up in long lines.

Hope you have a good evening!

My Kohl’s was full of items but I didn’t have much time to look around. I saw a few things I liked but didn’t buy them.

    Have a wonderful Tuesday!

I’m glad your Kohl’s was stocked! Maybe it’s just an issue with the Kohl’s I usually go to.
