Weekend Roundup

The weekend was just what I needed!

Friday, our TSA appointments were so easy! I was expecting some kind of beurocratic interigation. But Wizard and I got classified as uninteresting and we were there maybe 15 minutes total. We’d already filled out the paperwork, gave them our passports, then got fingerprinted and photographed. Paid the fees and we were done. Easy.

I had my approval on Saturday and Wizard’s still waiting for his :-) I’m teasing him about that. I am guessing I had a faster approval because I’ve never traveled out of the US while has gone to Europe for business. Not a lot, but probably enough to slow the system. I guess…or it’s just random luck. Who knows. I expect his will come through this week. But there’s no hurry, we really don’t have plans at the moment.

The rest of Friday, Wizard went to hang out with some friends and that gave me a chance to do some stuff in the house.

So on Saturday, we decided to go to Turbo’s game and I finally got around to texting his parents about a half hour before we left. We packed up what we needed, including lunch, gathered up Maggie and hopped in the car to go. We got to the end of the street when Oldest called to say Special K and Turbo were a little sick and not going to the game. Dang…but we circled the block and went home.

Maggie was confused, LOL.

On the upside, I had a lunch packed and ate that at noon. So easy! Then because Maggie got gypped on going to Turbo’s baseball game, I took her to Home Depot to look at plants and walk around the store. She loves that. Then I took her to Petco, where I picked out a collar for her, and Maggie picked out treats. She first chose rawhide bones and I said no (because she will throw up and they aren’t good for her) so she then chose some baked chicken sticks. Then she made friends with an employee and got lots of pets. Then we went home and I gave her a chicken stick. She loved her day out and her treat! It may sound dumb, but after this busy week, she seemed to really appreciate just spending some time with me like that. Or maybe it was me that liked it!

Saturday afternoon, I read and rested. I’ve been tired and a tad achy from changing my meds (under a doctor’s orders) this week. Saturday night I finally slept well, suggesting that some intentional rest during the day really helped.

Sunday I felt great. Wizard went racing, and I was able to organize some stuff, clean bathrooms and wash floors. Now I feel more on top of things again. I had just finished that when Youngest and his wife stopped by. Then Wizard got home in time to visit with them too.

How was your weekend?

It’s nice to hear when things run smoothly. I’m sure Wizard’s TSA pre-check will come in today. Men all all like that – complaining that you paperwork came in so fast. His will most likely arrive today.

Sorry Maggie didn’t get to go see Turbo. I hope he and DIL are feeling better. Taking Maggie to Home depot was very nice of you. I can picture her having the time of her life.

I just got back from the vet with Spunk for his yearly. It’s a new vet. She appears very nice and skilled. We’ve decided to slowly take him off his medications since he still throws up. He’s been taking the stuff for his belly for years. She also thinks I should try giving him just wet food since he throws up less with it. This is going to be a 4 month project to see if anything helps.

The turkey I roasted yesterday was very good. I think we’ll have it again tonight and then I’ll freeze the left-overs for soup.

It’s a beautiful sunny chilly day here. I hope your day is lovely.

Yay for TSA efficiency! That’s something new. I figured y’all would change your mind about the game but awww. Poor SpecK and Turbo. And bless Maggie. She would be confused but yay for Maggie time, roadtrip and treats! Yay for rest, recuperation, and family visits!

I did very little this weekend besides watching softball and napping. I did some photo searching looking for possible character models, cover art, and places. I also played with possible titles, and I finally came up with a name for the bad guy in the book. Once it stared me in the face, it was a d’uh moment. 🤦🏼‍♀️ His name is Bran. For a variety of reasons. He’s called “the Raven”–again for a variety of reasons. *bwahaha*

I napped Saturday. Wish I’d napped yesterday. Gave up this morning and got up at my body’s time–7 a.m. CDST, which is actually 6 a.m., my normal time. I’m just going to be an hour behind until we either get back to Standard Time or whatever. That’s my whine for the day.

Oh! I went to Wallyworld yesterday. I had to people. It was hard. 🤣 Have a great week, all!

Viki, it’s bugging Wizard that I was approved so quickly and he’s still waiting. I really don’t know what the hold up could be, but I suspect it’s random. The system probably sorted me to a faster person than him.

DIL and Turbo seemed to be feeling better by the next day, so I think it was just a 24 hour thing. Turbo brings home tons of viruses to share these days :-) As for Maggie, almost everything makes her happy. She just loves going and doing.

It sounds like the new vet is taking a fresh look, and I’m always for reducing meds if we don’t need them. I bet Spunk is happy about the canned food (I assume he likes it better, but then, cats make up their own rules, LOL).

I need to find a turkey breast! Lately though it seems we’re running around so much, it’s hard to plan.

Hope you enjoy the turkey and have a great evening!

Silver, I am slowly learning I need some rest periods during the week. It’s annoying, LOL. I should be super woman, but my cape has never arrived.

This is the thinking/research stage of the book. I bet even when you’re watching softball, part of your brain is thinking about the book and all that encompasses! The downtime weekend truly facilitates that.

You really do love Standard Time! I suspect many people would agree with you. For me, I’d be waking a 4:30 am by now and irritated. We all run on our own clocks. But I’m sorry it’s causing you hardship. It’s not fun when our bodies aren’t in sync with the clock and that’s a real thing for sure.

The good thing about going to Walmart is it somehow makes us feel good about ourselves afterward: like we braved a battle, saved money (hopefully!) and made it home. (Of course, I know it’s not a real battle, just a teasing simile even if the two things aren’t really alike in real life.)

Hope you got some more work on the new idea done today!
