It was a good weekend.
On Friday, Wizard had a low key birthday. Youngest’s wife was under the weather, so we didn’t go to dinner. I was going to take Wizard out anyway, but he wanted to stay home. He did enjoy the lemon cream cheese cookies
Saturday, Baby Girl and her parents came over. For now, I’ll call her CeeGee. So they came over, and Maggie wanted to see CeeGee before she even got out of her car seat. I sat her up on the couch, and to our surprised Maggie jumped up there twice. That’s just weird since she only goes up there when her blanket’s out. CeeGee found this all hilarious. She was bouncing and screaming (boys laugh, girls scream, LOL).
However, I made Maggie get down and give her space. I saw possessiveness in Maggie — I think for CeeGee because she was focused on her and loves kids. But I couldn’t be 100% sure it wasn’t about me, and that can be dangerous. I mean I have never seen any kind of aggression in Maggie, but she’s getting older and I never want to be the owner who says, “My dog would never…” because kids and dogs will almost always prove us wrong. Either way, we established some ground rules. Then Maggie was very good and had so much fun with her. And later in the evening I let her up on the couch with her, and she was well behaved with no problems. CeeGee also loves Grandpa and helped make his birthday special. We all had a great time, enjoying good wine, a decent dinner and both the lemon cookies and some of the fudge filled chocolate chips ones I took out of the freezer.
At one point, I gave CeeGee a small silicone whisk and my son came in the kitchen, saw her and was so confused. He asked her “Where did you get that?” Did he think almost his seven month old daughter rummaged through my kitchen drawers and found it herself? I finally assured him that I gave it to her and she was perfectly safe. She played with that little whisk through dinner. It doesn’t take much to entertain little ones. Then her mom fed her some homemade baby food. If I had to do it all over again, I’d do the same thing with my kids
While we couldn’t go to Turbo’s game, we got some videos of a two of him at bat, and he got tow hits! He is doing well and having fun!
Sunday was our first quiet day, and we had a discussion about starting to fill in a small patio off the sun room. Two trips to home depot later we have found big pots that were a two-for-the-price-of-one deal, and two pygmy palms that I love! They are so tropical looking and I hope they can survive in the part sun part shade of that area! I was surprised that Wizard likes them too — I always thought he didn’t. More than four decades together and I learn something new about him! The moral of this story is we can turn any day into a busy day by inventing projects our of thin air, LOL. That section of small patio is a work in progress but that’s part of the fun. And for the record, Maggie supervised but she doesn’t do much actual work.
How was your weekend?

I 💖 CeeGee! Yay for lots of time with her and for Maggie loving her and being a good dog. I bet CeeGee grows up to be Grandma’s little kitchen helper.
Happy Birthday again to Wiz. Sorry plans fell through with youngest(s). Also lemon cream cheese cookies? YUM! Though I’ve never had any. They sound yummy.
We had rain, cold, and even a trace of snow. No First Saturday activities, ie. siren test, lunch, or soccer games. We stayed in and warm. I watched sports with mixed results–wins and losses. Also, fell asleep early every night. Still not adjusting to the time change.
Have a great week, all!

Maggie loves CeeGee🥰. How sweet but you are right to “better be safe than sorry.” Like you said, pets can get moody, just like humans, as they get older.
I’m glad you had such a wonderful time and Wizard must have loved his cookies. Lemon anything is the perfect dessert.
Picturing CeeGee with her wisk reminded me of how C used to crawl on my kitchen floor, open a cupboard door and pull out a pan I kept there. I would hand him a wooden spoon and he would have the time of his life while I cooked dinner. I think kids all love to play in the kitchen.
Did Maggie go to Home Depot too? She is a very good helper supervising your work.
I think We finally have all of our tax stuff sent to the CPA. C had one heck of a time trying to send some of the papers through. They just wouldn’t go. Finally he got them uploaded this morning. I went to the bank and transferred funds for when the taxes are done and I can pay them ☹️.
I have to start looking into buying a new washer and dryer. Mine are letting me know that they have been overworked. I usually like doing this kind of thing but for some reason I just don’t want to start searching.
Oh, we got snow last night. Only 1/2 an inch but still. We’re due for more tomorrow.
I hope your day is going well!

Silver, CeeGee’s dad wants her to ride dirt bikes so we’ll see, LOL! He cracks me up with his plans — kids so love when their parents have their life planned out
The cookies are easy and good. Here’s the link if anyone is interested: https://amandacooksandstyles.com/lemon-cheesecake-cookies/ This last batch, I was busy, so I made double the icing in a measuring cup and poured the icing over, rather than drizzled it.
It sounds like a good weekend to stay in, watch sports and get some rest! I hope the weather gets better. I hear the storm is causing havoc, injuries and unfortunately deaths in some states. The weather really needs to get on some meds. It’s getting hot here this week but I’ll take it over what other states are enduring.
Sorry the time changes is still messing with your system. It sucks for those it affects that way.
Hope your Monday is looking brighter.

Viki, I’m with you on being safe over sorry with pets and kids. But it was adorable how much CeeGee loved Maggie. She loves all dogs, including her two dogs. Her parents have been very careful with their dogs, who for the record, are very good dogs.
Shh, Maggie didn’t go with us to Home Depot so don’t tell her we went there! Lately the garden department has been wet and muddy, so we left her home. I think it’s just as they bring in more stock for Spring and will get better.
No way around it, taxes are just mean. But I’m sorry C had such a hassle submitting the documents. I’m pretty sure all of us have encountered that frustration when trying to upload stuff like that. Sometimes, I’ve found, it helps to switch browsers, but I’m sure C knows that already!
I can understand not wanting to search for a washer and dryer. But I hope when you do search, you can find the right ones for you before your current set suddenly quit. I’m hoping my current set lasts like 40 years…is that unrealistic????
Sounds like your having real weather in April! Hope you stay warm and safe! Happy Monday!
