I’m slowly reading Nikki R Haley’s biography, “WITH ALL DUE RESPECT.” I’m a hair under half way through. My next biography that I plan to read sometime this year is on the other side of the aisle because I read widely depending on what catches my interest. I don’t have to agree with people to learn about them and how they think. It’s interesting to see how people’s opinions are formed, and how flexible and adaptable they are in their thinking and decision making. I especially like seeing how women navigate some of the areas like politics where men traditionally dominated.
I have set aside the book I was listening to on Gulags. It’s not bad, it’s just dry and requires a level of focus that I don’t usually give audiobooks. I really wish I’d bought it in a hardcopy. Next up on my audio listening lineup is “THE GUILTY ONE” by Kiersten Modglin. I don’t think I’ve ever read this author, so we’ll see. I listen to so many podcasts now, it’s seriously cutting into my audiobook time!
What are you reading or listening to?

A few years back, I read an autobiography of Sandra Day O’Connor that was pretty good. It talked about her younger years growing up on a ranch. It’s called Lazy B (the name of the ranch). More recently, I read the autobiography of Shirley Temple Black. I enjoyed that one, too. Right now, I’m reading a James Bond – Dr. No. I found 5 old paperback James Bond novels at the thrift store and I’m working my way through those. They’re pretty awesome.

Are you enjoying Nikki’s book? I like her grit but I don’t always agree with her. It’s very hard to be a strong woman in the public eye.
Can’t say I blame you for putting the gulag’s aside for a bit.
I’m still not getting very far reading each day. I’m lucky if I get one page in. I did just pick up The gut-brain paradox : improve your mood, clear brain fog, and reverse disease by healing your microbiome by Steven Gundry.
I took hubs to his macular degeneration doctor this morning. Thank God for scans. He is completely stable, no changes.
I hope you’re having a lovely day!
PS – The State finally cashed the checks🥳.

B.E., I’ve heard good things about Sandra Day O’Conner’s biography. I should put that in my TBR pile. I remember you reading the Temple biography.
James Bond sounds like a fun read!
Happy Wednesday!

Viki, yes I like the book. I don’t know if I like her — she comes across strong which I’m fine with. I rarely agree 100% with anyone (ask Wizard, LOL), but I like that she explains her thinking. Her perspective is interesting. I do think she may, at times, forget that others perspectives have as much value as hers does — but that’s no uncommon.
I hope you find Steven Gundry’s book useful. I think the microbiome is fascinating and have learned a lot over the last couple years reading up on it. I didn’t really connect with Gundry, but a lot of people do.
Man that struggle to read is real. I’m sorry it’s really been dogging you for a while now.
That is good news on hubs’s macular degeneration. You must be relieved.
Yay on the state cashing the check giving you peace of mind!
My day is good so far, and I hope yours is too!

Okay. I’m finally here. It’s been a day of errands.
I’m mostly doing fluff because my brain needs it at the moment. Kristen Ashley’s crazysauce is perfect for my mood. I’m currently listening to her Wild West MC series. I’m almost done with the 2nd book, SMOKE & STEEL. Then I’ll hit the new one that released not long ago.
Happy reading!
