Friday Five

TGIF!! So it’s that time again! Here’s my five random things about my week:

  1. I made bread, and at some point, Wizard snapped a picture of me and posted it. He never asks :-( But anyway, someone mentioned that my kitchen looked cleaner than hers did when she baked. Ha! She should have see it the day before when I started the bread! The pic was the second day after it had bulk fermented overnight in the fridge, and therefore less messy. She should have checked in a few hours later when I was making enchiladas and the kitchen was a total mess!
  2. The weather keeps changing from warm to rain (humidity) and my joints are unhappy. I told Wizard I’d take a week off lifting…but between you and me, I wouldn’t take that bet! I am going to try to go through the weekend…maybe. I have really been enjoying the weight program that me and ChatGTP designed. While Wizard is going to a gym, I have no desire to do that again at this point.
  3. I had hair drama. I love my hairdresser but she’s been having health issues — that I totally understand. The salon is changing appointments for her and messing up mine. So I show up and there’s no appointment on the books, and my hairdresser is off this week for a procedure. But I have a text confirming I had an appointment — no one can explain it. I am annoyed. I’m not sure if I’m going to hang in there or go somewhere else. I know this is a pretty small problem to have, I’m just venting!
  4. Today the plan is to go see our granddaughter CeeGee. We haven’t seen her in a couple weeks now. I can see by pictures she’s already getting bigger and changing more.
  5. Turbo called Grandpa so excited — he hit a homerun in practice on Wednesday night. Wizard and I were super thrilled! Then Turbo was just as exited to tell us his friend hit one a bit later in their practice game — and I loved that he was just as happy and proud of his friend as himself. And speaking of Turbo, Sunday morning, Wizard plans to go racing and I have tentative plans to go to breakfast with Oldest, and most likely Turbo and his mom will go too. Turbo and his mom are quite as early risers as Oldest and I are :-) Then we’ll all hang out for a bit. We may make it to Turbo’s game on Saturday too, we’ll see. All the plans depending on last minute schedule changes because that’s life these days.

That’s my five, now I’d really like to hear yours! I hope everyone has a great weekend.

LOL, baking can be a messy endeavor. Yay for Wizard snapping a non-messy pic! Bummer about your weather and yay for finding a good routine, even if you take a day or two off. Ugh on the hair drama. Yay for seeing CeeGee! Yay for Turbo! I hope your weekend plans work out. :hugs:

    1) I cut my hair a couple weeks ago. Not my best work. And with all the rain / humidity, it’s sticking out all over. I’m walking around looking like I’m ready for Halloween. It’ll grow out.
    2) Ugh, the rain. I think we got like 13 inches last month and it’s pouring again this morning.
    3) I’ve been walking again. I’m averaging about a mile a week, and I’m up to over 10 miles for the year. (I didn’t walk much Jan-Mar.)
    4) I was looking for something in my desk drawer and came across 2 birthday cards I never sent. I’m wondering now if two people didn’t get cards last year or if I forgot I had these and bought more to send. Oops.
    5) My baby trees are doing well. Fingers crossed they all survive to get planted in the yard and then fingers crossed the deer don’t eat them. I wish I could get food plants to grow as well for me, but alas, I can’t.

Bad Wiz! The only kistchen is one where no one cooks. Yay for bread and enchilados, though! Ugh on weather and joints but yay for the weight program. Vent away. Sorry for her health but her salon is messing up. Yay for CeeGee Time! Enjoy. Yay for homeruns and good sports and friends, and more family time and baseball! Okay, my five:

    1. The honeysuckle is blooming. The breeze wafts the fragrance into my office. I 💖 honeysuckle.

    2. April was a big sploosh. We got almost 13″ of rain, most of which fell in the last week. Lots of flooding around but not us, which is good.

    3. I keep thinking I’m going to switch to summer linens on the bed but the weather keeps switching from warm to cold. I like not having heat or AC going but when the nights get down to the 40s, I like having my thick comforter to snuggle under.

    4. Stormy had a soccer game last night. They won 4-0. He spent most of the game at mid-field, which is a fairly new position for him. He normally plays defense but the coach thinks he’ll be a really good mid-fielder. A dad on the other team got tossed for harrassing the referee. Who was 6’4″. After he got tossed, the dad called out the ref, wanting him to step off the field. The dude was 6’4″! Stupid dad. Their coach had to get him to leave. Sad for the kid involved.

    5. With all the rain, Pete is pretending to be more of an indoor cat. That said, with many of the windows open, he’s taken on the job of neighborhood watch cat, especially at night. I’ll wake up and he won’t be on the bed. That means I have to go make sure he’s not at the garage door waiting to come in because he is Houdini Catâ„¢ and has been known to get out and we have no clue how. Now I find him at the office window, which looks out over the driveway and one of the streets. I don’t know if he’s vigilent or just nosy!

Only and Stormy are at the state Lutheran school track meet. She took the day off. Not sure which events–running and long jump are his normals. And one of the relays. Tomorrow is First Saturday so siren test. Stormy has soccer at 10:45 so not sure of lunch. There’s a second game at 4:00. At least it’s supposed to be sunny, cool-ish, and low humidity! TGIF and have a great weekend, witches!

    1. Ha ha on the kitchen. My grandmother always said that a sign of a great cook was a messy kitchen.
    2. My joints are not liking all the weather ups and down either. I hope yours get happy.
    3. That’s awful about the salon. Your stylist should be able to rely on the salon to update her clients.
    4. Have a great time with CeeGee.
    5. Turbo is quite the young man. He’s being raised right.

1a. We just had a nasty front come through. There was rolling thunder and everything. Hubs and Spunk were not happy . Me – I love it.
2a. The new washer and dryer come tomorrow.
3a. C is coming over to take the stair railing down so the appliances can make it upstairs. He’s such a good kid.
4a. I’m almost done with Spunk on his meds. One more week. This new vet really didn’t like that he had been on them for so long. I like her.
5a. I think my taxes are finally taken care of. They sat on my checks for a week and then charged me a penalty. What a scam.

    Have a great weekend!

B.E., baking is messy! I’m just glad Wizard managed to catch a controlled mess that day. Sometimes, it can be a Cat 5 mess, especially if I’m decorating cakes. But I doubt people in cyber space really care how clean or dirty my kitchen is. CeeGee was so much fun today!

    1) Ah, yes, misbehaving hair in the humidity is a joy, isn’t it? I haven’t tried cutting my hair since I was a kid. You’re braver than me!
    2) I keep seeing rain for your area on the news. Crazy!
    3) Yay for walking! My belief is that any movement is good movement as long as it doesn’t hurt.
    4) Well clearly you were thinking of the birthday people…and possibly even sent cards, LOL! I’d be questioning myself the exact same way.
    5) I’m impressing your getting the baby trees to grow! Are the deer the reason you can’t grow food plants? I’m just wondering because you seem good enough at gardening that you could do it.

I hope you have a good weekend!

Silver, eh, the joint thing is just part of my life. It’s always a guessing game if I should push forward, or rest. I’d say 80% of the time I get it right, and occassionally I make more misery than necessary for myself by not paying close enough attention. But the hair saloon issue is not my fault and I’m getting tired of it. However, I also don’t like abandoning a person when they’re going through health stuff, so…I’m torn.

    1) The scent of honeysuckle is lovely! It must make Spring feel real.
    2) Yeah, I see you guys are getting rain bombed like B.E.. I’m really sorry for the issues it causes. Hopefully no one is hurt.
    3) I’d keep the warm comforter until the weather levels out. It’s really unstable in your neck of the woods right now. We even have another threat of rain this weekend, but nothing like what you’re getting.
    4) So sad for the kid! These sport parents who can’t control themselves infuriate me for all the kids and the rest of the parents/grandparents who are just their to support the kids. I’m so sorry you all had to deal with it. But huge Congrats to Stormy and his team!!! Looks like Stormy is getting a feel for all the positions, which will make him an even better player when he settles on one or two positions. I love for him!
    5) Hmm, I’m thinking he’s vigilant with a side of nosey :-) But he sure is a character, isn’t he? I don’t know how, but some cats really have a knack for getting in and out undetected.

Wow you guys have a busy weekend! I hope Stormy and Only do well at the track meet, and Stormy has great soccer games!

Viki, I just loved how excited Turbo was for his friend. I know it’s a little thing, but clearly, my grandma pride is bursting :-) I really hope we can make it to his game tomorrow. And CeeGee was adorable and fun. She played with us for two and a half hours, them I picked her up, she put her head on my shoulder and conked out. Even with the end of a cold, she’s just a happy easy baby.

    1) That’s some serious weather rolling through! I’m sorry it worried or upset hubs. I’m not surprised Spunk didn’t like it — that’s a lot of roiling energy that I bet he feels, plus the loud thunder. Animals are so interesting. That said, I’m glad you loved it!
    2) Yay for the washer and dryer coming! Once they are hooked up and working, you can put that out of your mind.
    3) C sure is a good kid!! They make our lives so much easier, don’t they? Even when my kids are doing nothing, I know they are there if I need them, and that’s everything!
    4) I’m with you — from what you described she seems like she’s very focused on giving Spunk the best quality of life with the least amount of intervention. In my book, that’s the right way!
    5) Seriously they charged you a penalty? That sucks and I’d be mad too. I’m sorry. The good news here is it’s over for a year.

Hope you have a good weekend and the washer/dryer delivery and hookup is stress free!
