Friday Five

TGIF!! I don’t know how it happened, but Friday is here again! Let’s get right to sharing five random things about our week. Here’s mine:

  1. Monday vanished into a coffee date with my sister, laundry and assorted mundane life tasks that no one else does. I’m really need a full staff of invisible and unpaid workers to take care of boring stuff for me…is that so much to ask?
  2. Tuesday was more stupid stuff like grocery shopping, my crazy need to wash, sort or otherwise organize everything I bought to make the rest of my week easier. Then we had an appointment with out lawyer for bail…just kidding…we were updating boring documents to make life easier for our kids one day, a very, Very, VERY long time from now :-) See? Very mundane.
  3. Wednesday was a quick routine trip to the vet for Maggie, then I wisely stopped into my hair saloon to discover to no one’s surprise that my appointment was still wrong. But my stylist is back from her health issues and immediately sorted it out so I have a real and confirmed appt with her on Friday. I’m happy with that, and for the record, I don’t hate my gray hair slowly growing out so far! My day got even better as I packed up lunch and headed out to babysit CeeGee while Daughter In Law went to an appt. So fun! Then the trip home…sucked. But it could have sucked much worse. Wizard alerted me to the 91 freeway being shut down completely due to an accident involving a cement truck and spilled fuel. I was able to go around it by a series of other freeways that only took me just under three hours to get home. But…I didn’t get trapped on a closed freeway so I call that a win! Plus Wizard finished cooking what I’d started that morning in the crock pot for dinner and opened some wine for me. All in all, the day was good, just a tad longer than expected. But this little face made it all worth it!
  4. Thursday, NO APPTS!!! I worked out, ran some errands, just did things as I chose to do them with no time pressures. I even bought some socks I’ve needed for weeks (Mundane, yes, but it made me happy).
  5. Today, I’m getting my hair cut, then maybe shooting out to Trader Joes. Saturday, Wizard is hoping to go to the track to practice his RC cars which gives me time alone (I love time alone now and again!) and Sunday Youngest is taking me (well us) to breakfast for Mother’s Day. Always nice! It was a good week, but dang, I have been going nonstop since last Thursday or Friday and looking forward to a low key few days!

That’s my five, now I’d love to hear yours! Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there! And I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Wow, busy week. What a pretty baby! I hope the coming week is more relaxing for you and I hope you have an amazing Mother’s Day! :hugs:

    1) I finished all the beta edits for my book, did a cover, and last night worked on the cover copy. I’m this close >< to pushing it out into the world.
    2) My baby trees are growing right along. I think a few of them already need to be moved to bigger pots.
    3) We're seeing hummingbirds! Yay!
    4) I ordered up some yummy treats for my mom for Mother's Day and she already got them. One of the things I ordered was Walker shortbread in a tin with little Scottie dogs on it and the cookies are shaped like Scotties. So cute. She really got a kick out of them and she loves those cookies.
    5) I finished reading a really awesome book last night, but when I went to review it, the ebook had disappeared and the paperback copies are out of print. That makes me sad because it really was such a good book and I want the world to be able to read it, too. =o(

Brownies! I want brownies! (That invisible staff, not the pastry.) But yay for coffee with Biker Witch. Yay for being organized and prepared, even if mundane. Wow! Talk about a Hump Day! But CeeGee time is worth it all plus healthy Maggie, hair appointment and wine! Also, she’s soooo cute! Yay for stuff done and quiet day. Yay for hair cut and a quiet weekend with breakfast! My five aren’t nearly so busy.

    1. Saw a really cool “new” bird at the feeder–a rose-breasted grosbeak. I had no idea such a bird existed much less lived around here. It’s cool looking.

    2. I figured out where the WIP actually needs to start and have some words written. I also feel down the rabbit hole of titles and cover images. Oops. Hoping to really knuckle down next week.

    3. I went to Wallyworld and was doing great to get in, get the basket filled with things on the list and get out to get home in an hour. I was there early. It was going great until Jake noticed the two firefighters, in bunker pants, who were shopping. He insisted we stop and visit. They were on their way back to the station after a run on a wreck on the interstate and stopped to get groceries. We often see the guys from St. 31 in there but today, Jake was stubborn and he wanted pets. So we stopped and visited.

    4. Today is my laundry day. I’m on load 2 of 5. I’ll have 2 more loads this weekend because the temps have settled enough that I’m switching bed linens.

    5. Pete has a new “game.” He sits in front of the computer monitor and stares at me. Our conversation goes something like this:
    Me: Yes?
    Pete: *stares*
    Me: Do you want out?
    Pete: *stares*
Me: *stands up* Okay. C’mon. *walks to the garage door*
Pete: *moves to corner of desk and stares at me*
Me: Okay. Fine. *heads back to desk*
Pete: *jumps down, strolls to door, sits and stares*
    Me: Okay fine. *opens door*
Pete: *stands, stalks to threshold, leans over to stare into garage*
    Me: Any time now, Pete.
Pete: *turns and stalks back down hallway to his food bowl*
    Me: *sigh* Cats!

Have a great weekend and Happy Mother’s today to all the kinds of moms there are out there! 🥰

    1. Coffee with Biker Witch is always a + and so is getting chores out of the way.
    2. Smart to get the paperwork updated before an issues arises.
    3. Oh man is CeeGee cute. I love her pearls. Wizard is very thoughtful. Still stinks that it took so long to get home.
    4. I really love getting new socks to0.
    5. Enjoy the hair cut (mine is next Friday). Have a fantastic Mother’s Day breakfast!

1a. I bought 80 pounds of dirt to plant the tomatoes I bought. I had to have the guy in the store put it in my car. I killed myslef putting the two bags into my car. I had C come by after work yesterday to move the bags out of f my car and to the deck. I’ll plant tomorrow.
2a. My hip had been doing so well until two days ago. It’s a real bugger today. It might be the weather.
3a. Sunday C is taking me to the range for our annual Mother’s Day shoot. I’m really looking forward to it.
4a. Bad news about the shoot is it triggered guns in hubs head and he’s been searching for his and getting upset that he can’t find them. I had C take them our of the house about 6 months ago when hubs was constantly saying he wanted to kill me. The medication has pretty much stopped the death threats.
5a. It’s going to finally start warming up so this Sunday I’m getting the micro fleece off the bed. Hubs won’t be happy since he wears a winter hat and gloves in the house and to bed now. I’m just sick of sweating in bed.

    Have A Lovey Mother’s Day!

B.E., thanks, the best thing about CeeGee is her overall happiness!

    1) Wow you must have pushed hard to get all that done! Great job!
    2) If a few trees need bigger pots, then they are growing. I love that! I have a plant screaming for a bigger pot, I just haven’t had time to get it, LOL.
    3) Yay for Hummingbirds
    4) What a great gift for your mom. I’m glad she got a kick out of the Scottie shaped cookies.
    5) Oh that sucks. When I looked up the book I think you were reading, it was out of print.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Silver, thanks on all! We really need to find and summon those Brownies! For the record, I love baked brownies too, but sadly, I’ve been limiting my sweets. It’s not fun and I don’t recommend it :-) But I’ll take the Brownies as an invisible staff!

    1) I’ve never heard of the bird either. Cool to not only see it, but identify it!
    2) Those rabbit holes are dangerous time sucks for sure! But knowing where to start and getting words down should help you get going.
    3) Who can blame Jake? Fight fighters are fun to visit! It is interesting that he honed in on them though. Also, you are amazing for going early and getting the shopping mostly done before you were waylaid.
    4) Bed lines are not my favorite to wash. Who am I kidding, laundry is always a pain. Hope yours is quick and easy!
    5) Sounds like Pete likes the game of getting you up and focused on him! He’s a smart cat who is doing his best to run the house, LOL. Maggie stares at me with a pitiful look to go back outside after we’ve played in and out twenty times in an hour. And I do it again because she’s obviously in charge.

Hope you have a great Mother’s Day and weekend!

Viki, the drive was long, but not as bad as it could have been. CeeGee is worth it and these things just happen. But I’m definitely hoping for a quieter week!

    1) That’s a lot of dirt!!! I’ve moved those bags, and it’s a lot. Glad you got home from the store and C. You’ve got a lot of planting to do, but it’ll be nice to have fresh tomatoes.
    2) Ugh, I’m sorry your hip is acting up. It makes everything so much harder. I hope it heals quickly. Mine hates humidity and sudden temp changes so maybe the weather is contributing.
    3) That should be a fun Mother’s Day!!!
    4) I’m so glad you were proactive about removing the guns from the house. And I’m really glad the meds tamped down the threats. Hopefully he’ll forget or get fixated on something else soon.
    5) I’m with you! I want the house cool and Wizard gets cold. I suspect that’s every marriage in our age group! Hopefully hubs will adjust.

Enjoy your day with C at the gun range!
