Weekend Roundup

It was a good weekend. Saturday we headed out to Turbo’s, Wizard gave him the RC race car…and it broke in the first 10 minutes, LOL! That is RC cars. Wizard brought it home to fix the issue and will probably drop it off this week when he’s out there for other stuff. But Turbo was excited about it! And he didn’t even blink about Wizard needing to take it home and redo something on it. He and his dad have RC trucks they play with, and his dad is always fixing them, so he wasn’t at all surprised or upset. We didn’t stay long, and left to head towards home then stop somewhere for lunch when we were closer to home.

But the freeway was closed due to an accident involving a runaway propane tank. The tank’s house — a food truck — was involved in an accident and the propane tank saw it’s opportunity to escape and rolled out onto the freeway (I didn’t said it was a good plan, LOL). This freaked out the authorities since they didn’t know if it had been punctured and was ready to spectacularly self destruct in a massive fireball and take out everything around it. And this led to the freeway closure.

Fortunately, we were able to get it around it fairly quickly since they had just closed the freeway a few minutes before we got there, and we went on with our day. We went to lunch, came home then headed back out to drop in on Youngest unannounced. Because we wanted to see the finished back yard! And we did! They have an oasis that is just lovely after a year or more of work. It was worth all the sweat and money they put into it. But Youngest had planned to show no one until he was ready for his Big Reveal in what I assume will be a family swim party. Which is why we dropped in :-) We’re the parents, we get away with stuff like that all the time. But he’s making the rest of the family wait and there was a long text chain about this in which Youngest told his siblings and family that we had to pay for an early preview. Then he showed a picture the Mustang in his garage, implying we gave it to him for the privilege of seeing his backyard.

I’m seriously worried my kids are strange. Just saying…

Sunday Wizard went to practice at the track and see his friends. That left me home unsupervised, so I went to Lowes and spent money on more pots, soil, plant stands and one plant. I need to do some repotting and such. Maggie went with me and had a great time with that adventure! She loves going anywhere.

Oh, and back when we were at Turbo’s, oldest son said he’d take paddle board lessons with me (stand up paddle board), and I am going to hold him to it! It’s a bucket list thing that I really want to try. My daughter in law said she and Turbo will Kayak while we paddle board. I’d totally do kayaking too, but I really want to try paddle boarding.

Today I’m working out then gardening in the back.

How was your weekend?

Bummer on the RC car repairs but yay for a good kid knowing the score. *sigh* Propane tanks don’t spontaneously explode IF they’ve been punctured. The H20/Propane mix has to be perfect then it needs an ignition. Propane tanks WILL explode if they are in a fire and superheat. Anyway…yes, my old Hazardous Fuel Handler certification is showing. Glad y’all got around the mishap. I 💖your family’s shennanigans and Youngest’s sense of humor. Yay for Urban Oasis yards! Yay for Maggie, Home Depot, and potting stuff! Oh, adventure stuffs! Go you!

We had weather. There was also soccer. Win, loss, tie. There was softball. Sadly, my Cowgirls are going home. OU moves on to Super Regionals along with my new fave Cinderella team, the Liberty Univ Flames, who defeated the #1 seed, Texas A&M.

We missed the Saturday afternoon game due to traffic congestion in a construction zone. A car decided it wanted to ignore the lanes. LG swerved onto the non-existent shoulder to avoide collision, hit a hole and a partially removed curb. Destroyed one tire, damaged the other. Then rainstorm while waiting for the wrecker. Luckily, the tennis ball sized hail missed us. Also luckily, we have Roadside Assistance plus tire warranty. Tow was free and tire fix was only $200.

Needless to say, glad the weekend is over. Looking forward to a week of doing something–anything–productive.

    Have a great one, all!

Sorry about the car but Turbo is such a good kid. Understanding that the car had to go back with grandpa to be repaired with no fuss is very mature.

Oh crud. Sounds like the drive was a tad stressful. It’s good that you were able to get around the mess.

Ha ha! Playing the parent card is fantastic! I understand where they want to have a big reveal but I’m sure they were also very happy to show it off to you.

Paddle boarding is something that takes balance and therefore I stink 🤣. Eldest taking it up with you is great. But somehow I see a little Tom Foolery coming into the picture. Smart idea, DIL and Turbo kayaking with you guys.

My weekend was okay. Last nights birthday dinner went pretty well. Hubs had a few periods where he got agitated but it all worked out.

Looks like Harrison and family are headed up this way for Memorial Day weekend. We’re hoping the rain clears out by then.

    Have a great day!

Silver, well, I’m sure they were worried about a car hitting the propane tank, but also, there was a bombing at a Palm Springs Fertility clinic that put law enforcement on edge, and the FBI is involved. Given all that, I’m not at all upset about the closure, I’m very upset about the car bomb explosion but we’ll move on.

Yay for the win in soccer, which I assume is Stormy’s games. Sorry about the loss. Ugh on the Cowgirls. Sounds like your new fave team is a winner!

Dang, I’m so sorry about the forced accident by a jerk. It happens way too often. At least the damage is all manageable but it’s still infuriating — even more so that the other driver had no consequences. Also cheers for Roadside assistance. It’s really worth the cost, especially when we reach the age of limitations.

Hope this week is better and you get stuff done!

Viki, Youngest was very happy to show off the backyard :-). And yep, Oldest will pull some shenanigan or other if I ever successfully stand up on the board! But he’ll also be my biggest cheerleader so it’s a fair trade off. And yes, my DIL is smart, LOL.

It will be interesting to see if I have the balance I’m hoping for. There’s a better chance I’ll never get up, but who cares, it’s all about trying and having fun.

Okay weekends are better than bad weekends. I’m happy the dinner went well, and hubs agitation was mostly manageable. It’s hard, but also great, that you guys keep him active in life as much as you can. Some would just leave him out, so huge Kudos to you for doing so well.

I’ll cross my fingers the rain clears about and everyone has a great time when Harrison and his family get there!
