Friday Five
TGIF!! It’s time to share five random things about our week. Here’s mine:
- Monday, I worked in my little garden. That was fun and hot! Maggie’s always happy when I’m in the backyard with her. What wasn’t so fun — I learned what root rot smells like. Whoa!!! I tried what I guessed would help to rescue the plant, and repotted it in a better pot that I can see in to make sure I’m not over watering so much. I later learned I may not have done enough, but we’ll see. The good news is, that I’m learning! So far, the plant looks pretty good. As for me, I’d rather not smell root rot again anytime soon!
- Wizard saw me working out there and came out to chat, when he noticed I was using a small side table to work on my plants. A few days later, he suddenly needed a new folding table, bought one, and gave me his old one to use as a gardening table. This is classic Wizard move — finding a way to make things easier for me without making it seem like he went to any trouble
The table can stay up on the side of the house where no one sees it and it’s out of the way.
- Wednesday I saw CeeGee!! She is a delight. She’s nine months old and getting super active. She isn’t crawling yet, but her brain is now in “Go” mode and she’s doing all the right moves to be crawling soon. She now weights a chunky 18 lbs. This baby started life a bit underweight, and made up for it swiftly (thanks to mom’s and dad’s care). The pediatrician said she’s exactly what they like to see as she’ll be burning it off soon crawling, walking then running. All true! And I loved spending time with my daughter in law too. Plus she sent me home with two books, I started one last night and already like it!
- I began the two day process of making sourdough bread yesterday. It’s been a while. I also worked out, did stupid chores, ran to Trader Joes, and founds ways to get super tired, LOL. I also made an appointment for Maggie to have a bath at the groomers today. Maggie heard her name and bath, and was instantly concerned enough to get up out of her bed, sit and stare at me while I finished the call. I’ve been giving her in-between baths but the groomer does a better job.
- This weekend, we’re having Biker Witch and Biker Hubby out for and early dinner on Saturday. Sunday, Wizard should be racing, so I get some time alone, but I also need to run out to a mall to return some shoes I ordered. I’m looking forward to seeing Biker Witch and Hubby, but the mall is not high on my list of fun things to do
Monday I’m not sure if we’re doing anything for Memorial Day — we’ll see.
Now it’s your turn to share five random things! I hope everyone has a great weekend, and a good Memorial Day!

Yay for gardening! Sorry about the root rot, though. Yay for thoughtful Wizard! Yay for seeing CeeGee! I bet she’s awesome. Yay for a productive day, even if some of your productivity means Maggie gets a bath. I hope you have any awesome time with the Biker couple and that your today errands go well. I also hope you have a nice Memorial Day. :hugs:
1) I ordered some stuff on Amazon that’s supposed to be here today. I got a CD and a book, a bunch of teas – including my fave Bengal Spice, and some different mousetraps. Yes, I get excited about mousetraps.
2) We’re inundated with mice in the garage right now and they’re driving Hubs nuts, so… different mousetraps.
3) The CD I ordered is the soundtrack for The Greatest Showman. I love that movie and the songs are awesome, so yay.
4) I’m up to almost 20 miles walked this year.
5) My tomato plants are looking great and so are most of my little trees. I repotted a bunch of them and they’re thriving, and the ones that aren’t thriving, weren’t before I repotted. Fingers crossed they catch up.

1. Over watering is a problem for many people. You’re learning and that’s great!
2. Wizard is so thoughtful.
3. CeeGee day 💗! She is growing like a weed – perfect!
4. Yum on bread and TJ’s not so good on tiring yourself out.
5. Have a great time with Biker Witch and Hubby. I haven’t been to a mall in years – good luck. Whatever you guys do on Monday, enjoy.
1a. I went to Trader Joe’s the other day. I was bummed. They are getting rid of the greeting cards and they didn’t have my chocolate covered coffee beans. I did get a couple things for the pets and not much else.
2a. You couldn’t do this – Last night I started to fall asleep with my iPad and had one of those body jerks. I threw the iPad and caught it with my face. I have a little cut across my forehead.
3a. Harrison and family will be coming over to visit and we may go get Mexican or Thai.
4a. Did I mention that the other day C finally asked me for my mom’s rings? He and C are taking the dogs and renting a place in VA next week and he’s going to propose. He had the rings re-sized this week to fit her size 3 1/2 finger. Yes, she is super tiny.
5a. I’m going to get ribs for Monday.
Have a nice weekend!

Good luck with the plant. Wiz is the best! Yay for CeeGee time but 9 MONTHS!!! NOOOOO. Where has the time gone? *flail* You got so lucky with the DiLs! All of them. You raised smart sons.
Maggie will enjoy her spa day despite the concern. Yay for long weekends and family time. Okay, my five. Boring.
1. This was the last week of school for the Kids. Stormy’s EoS awards assembly was Tuesday. He got athletic, reading, and the Spanish award. Wednesday, he was out at noon and came to our house because Basebally Boy and Only still had days at school. They’re both out now.
2. Speaking of Baseball Boy, he’s switching schools in the fall. He’s been hired by one of the premiere prep schools in the area, which includes a nice raise. He’s still doing two summer programs at his old school, for which they are happy to have him.
3. Wallyworld trip this morning. Jake and I went early and as we only needed food, it was a short “walk” and I was home in quick time. Jake managed to make a few new friends so that was cool.
4. Since I needed a little more exercise, Jake and I took a walk but bumped into our good nextdoor neighbor. Bad news is they are moving.
We really like them and they’ve done a ton of work on the house but all their friends are in a different suburb and it’s a newer house. We’ll miss them.
5. Pete decided to camp out in the daylilies not far from where I feed the crows and doves. A bluejay took offense. There was much squaking, hissing, and divebombing involved. It was funny to watch, too far away to video through the window. Pete returned to the house, dignity mostly intact because…cat. Personally, I think the bluejay won but don’t tell Pete that.
Have a great long weekend, all!
