Weekend Roundup & Memorial Day

I want to take a moment to remember all those who have served our county. Today many of us have BBQs and parties to celebrate life. But I think it’s important to take a second and remember those who paid the ultimate price so that we can live and celebrate. So to all those who have served, those who were wounded or lost their lives, and to all their families: THANK YOU. It matters to me, it always has and it always will.

Now for the weekend — all went well.

Friday, while I cleaned, Wizard took Maggie to get a bath and picked up something I needed from the grocery store. He really pitched in so that I could have a little time to repot a plant I’ve had for a week now :-)

Saturday, I made apple pie. Biker Witch and Hubby came later in the afternoon and it was great to see them. We had Balsamic Flank Steak, Lemon Greek Chicken, Cilantro Lime Rice, fresh fruit that Biker Witch brought and pie with ice cream. The best part was just getting to talk and hang out. I nixxed the idea of inviting others so that we could just have some time together. When my kids or Biker Witch’s kids show up, it’s a blast but hard to relax and just visit. Next time, I’ll invite others.

Sunday, Wizard went racing, I worked out, then took my shoes back to the mall, and came home with two more pairs of shoes and two pairs of shorts. A 40% sale motivated me, LOL. Hopefully everything fits, or I’ll be making the trek back. In shoes, I’m focusing on casual, comfortable, and affordable sandals. Other than my walking shoes (which are very pricy but worth it) I live in sandals for 6 to 8 months of the year. I try to find some support to protect my feet as best I can. Walking so much–often 2 or more miles a day–can take a toll over time.

Today, I’m not sure what we’re doing. But since we had our fun Saturday, I’d be fine staying home and doing regular stuff.

How was your weekend?

I saw a cool explanation of the various milirary holidays:
Memorial Day honors those who died serving us.
Veterans Day thanks all who served, past and present.
Armed Forces Day salutes those currently serving.

We had waves of storms and rain come through, with another round forecast for this afternoon/tonight. Some big hail but the bad stuff missed us. We can always use the rain, even if it comes in buckets.

Stormy had soccer. They won Saturday’s game, lost Sunday’s, which was their last game as this team with this coach. Soccer camp and tryouts over the next two weeks. Hopefully, most of the team will stay together and the new coach will be as awesome as Alan was/is.

I watched a lot of softball. There were wins and losses there too. OU moves to the WCWS, OSU went home.

I did more thinking about writing than actual writing but I have a semi-plan so as soon as I wean off the internet today, I’ll be working. Later today I’ll take a break to make my BBQ sauce. I was bad. I bought pre-smoked brisket. It’s enough for LG and I and only 1/3 of the cost of a full brisket I’d cook myself. I’m ready for beef prices to come down but that’ll take awhile.

On that note, time to move along, little doggies. Have a great day and a productive week, all!

You really won the lottery with Wizard 🥰.

Dinner sounds very tasty. Having just the four of you for dinner was a great decision. Being able to talk and really hear one another can be lost when there are more than four people present.

Good score on the shoes. Holiday sales 💗.

Harrison and family came over Saturday. Harrison got up at 5 am (4am TN time) so he was very crabby. C took him canoeing with Papa and he as okay with that. But dinner was a bust. When little ones are over tired there isn’t anything you can do until they get sleep. He slept in Sunday 🥰.

I have to go prepare the grill for the ribs. I hope you and Wizard are having a good day.

Silver, I saw a guy stop his truck and thank an older man for his service (he was wearing a Marine hat) and it made me remember to thank all who served. But yes, I know Memorial Day is for the died serving.

Sheesh you’ve had a lot of rain this year! But glad the worst of the storm missed you, and hope this next one doesn’t bring any trouble.

Yay for Saturday’s win! Bummer on Sunday, but they’re team played great this year! I’m with you on keeping the team together if possible, and hoping for a really good coach. The good ones help the team grow and learn while having a ton of fun.

At least softball is interesting to watch. Some years, it can be boring blowouts.

Beef prices seem to be going up, at least in my area. And buy the presmoked in the right amount for you and LG is being smart. I’d have done the same. I hope you guy enjoy it!

I know you’ll get some writing done! But for the record, planning is important too and considered working :-)

Viki, he’s always been helpful, and I’m thankful. It’s more of a challenge for him physically these days, but he finds a way.

It was nice to have real time with Biker Witch and Hubby. My kids are fun, but it’s always slightly controlled chaos, LOL.

I forgot about the holiday sales so it was lucky for me. Hopefully the shorts work out — I usually get the smaller size in this brand but got my regular size instead. I may need to get a belt, but I think they’ll fit nicer if they don’t fall off :-)

Oh yeah, a tired kid is not going to cope. Btu wow, how fun for him to go canoeing with C and Grandpa! I’m sorry dinner was a busy, but I totally understand it!

    Enjoy the ribs!
