Friday Five
TGIF!! Friday is here and it’s time to share five random things about our week. Let’s get started!
- This has been a nice week for me — calm. I’ve been mostly home, just running around in town doing normal things. I love the weeks when I feel like I can catch my breath.
- Turbo’s last day of school was yesterday. He’s done with first grade and on his way to second. Time sure moves faster when we’re grandparents! Turbo is also going to Canada on a family vacation soon — the boy travels more than I ever have! What cracked me up is when I was talking to Oldest about his trip, he was most excited about unlimited time to play with his son. I approve of his priorities.
- So I’ve been kicking around an idea — that’s not writing a book
Today I did a little research and also snagged a domain name. But will I follow through…that’s unclear
Right now, it’s a fun project to think about, and that has it’s own value.
- I need to reach out to some friends. Procrastination Jen is, well, procrastinating. You know, I keep waiting for life to give me the updated schedule with some stuff, and that’s just dumb. I think it’s better to make plans with friends and force life to go around us!
- Yesterday was Middle Son’s birthday. He’s such a joy to us and I’m so proud of him! Saturday, we are going out there, and taking him, his wife and CeeGee to dinner to celebrate. I’m really looking forward to spending time with them, and then again on a mini vacation on July 4th.
That’s my five, now it’s your turn to share!!! I hope you guys all have an amazing weekend!

Yay! I’m so glad you had a nice week. It doesn’t seem possible that Turbo is old enough to go to 2nd grade. Time flies, eh? Yay for kicking around ideas. You can do it, whatever it is! Yeah, we all have to watch out for the Procrastination Station. I spend too much time there. Happy Birthday to Middle Son! Have fun this weekend!
My week was busy and I lost track of time for anything else. It was mostly just errands and pre-errand stuff. I have some more errands today, but those are quick ones and then I can have fun, so yay. I get to do to my best thrift store and look for old crime novels! I need to spend time this weekend working on the gardens, weeding, etc. Not super fun, but good for me. =o)

Yay for calm. Turbo’s growing up and double yay for travel and dad time! Don’t be so mysterious! At least tease us with the doman name so we can speculate…
Procrasitnation is my middle name so I feel ya. Happy Birthday, Middle! Have a great weekend! And CeeGee Time! Yay! Okay my, once again, boring five.
1. I have a head cold. It sucks. LG just left for the VA urgent care clinic to get meds for his chest cold, which sucks more than my head cold, even though he gave me the cold. I’m headed back to bed once the over-the-counter meds kick in.
2. Saw my opathomalic surgeon/glaucoma specialist yesterday. Pressure in both eyes well within normal range and vision in my bad eye has improved slightly. I guessed one letter on the biggest line by shifting my head all around but hey! Better than no letters like last time.
3. Jake now barks at the microwave when it dings. It’s to remind me that the milk for my coffee is ready. I have been known to forget it’s in there.
4. Speaking of, I set up my coffee mug–stevia and half a pack of cocoa mix–and filled the k-cup thingy with coffee grounds and hit the button, walking away. Did you see what I didn’t do there? I did NOT put the mug under the spigot.
5. Pete has done nothing of note this week. Loki, however, has started drive-by hits on the bed. He starts in the kitchen for a full head of steam when he hits the bedroom. He then jumps on the bed, dashes across it, jumps down and zooms back to the kitchen. Then he creeps up to the bedroom door to check to see if Pete or I noticed. Cats.
OU is still in the WCWS after a bottom of the last inning, 2-outs, 3-run homerun to win their opening game. I’ll be watching softball this weekend and trying to shake the dang cold by mostly staying in bed with my Nyquil. Have a good one all!

1. Slow and calm – yes. You definitely need time to catch your breath.
2. Yippie to now being a second grader! Great job Turbo. Eldest’s priorities are in the right order đĨ°. They will all have a fantastic vacation.
3. Have fun with your new endeavor.
4. Catching up with old friends sounds like fun.
5. Have a great time with CeeGee Saturday. Oh, and have a nice time celebrating Middle’s birthday đ.
1a. C and C left yesterday for their weekend getaway in VA. The dogs travelled great. They stopped at the National Forest and did some hiking with the dogs. C proposed up on a cliff. Right afterwards, Precious (the old pitt) slid into a crevice but C was able to pull her up by the harness.
2a. Busy day here for me. I washed all the floors and throw rugs. My poor old beat up body is not happy with me but things look good.
3a. I had a ma and pa blue bird show up. They weren’t my normal, light blue, red belly, chubby, blue birds. These two were sleek and a darker blue. It looked like they were going to move into the birdhouse on the deck. But I guess they changed their minds âšī¸.
4a. Well it’s cool and rainy again. The weather people say it’s the coldest and wettest May in about 30 years. But don’t worry, we’re supposed to have the hottest and driest summer on record.
5a. I went ot pick up pants for hubs at Kohl’s and the pet section is right next to the self pick up. I noticed a sign that all pet stuff was 30% off. There was this tiny Lambchop cat toy. It is now Spunks. When I got home I told him I had something for him and he proceeded to try and get into the bag. I gave him Lambchop and it is now his favorite toy đ.
I hope your weekend is great and have a great time celebrating Middle’s birthday!

B.E., thanks for the support! I broke my procrastination streak, called my friend today and we made lunch plans
Errands and life stuff can be a time/energy suck. But yay for getting time to day for fun things. You know, I’ve been trying to get to a local thrift store this week and have failed. But hopefully you got your fix!
Hope you have a good weekend, and get to work in the garden (even if it’s not the fun part
)

Silver, yeah, sorry
I just impulsively started to do some things including the domain, so I’m light on info right now. The mystery stuff bugs me too, so I do feel bad! I’ll tell you it’s just a general shift in focus of this blog. I’ll tell you guys more soon, really.
1) I’m so sorry for the head cold. I hate being sick and feel bad for you and LG. I’m sending all the healing magic I have.
Maggie growls at Wizard’s phone. It’s just weird. She doesn’t growl at anything else.
2) I’m so glad the pressure in your eyes is normal. That’s good news. It would have been even better news if your sight improved more though. But at least you’re stable.
3) Jake is so smart! Or the ding bugs him
4) Um, yeah, you kind of missed a key step with your coffee! Bet that was fun to clean up…NOT. I’m sorry you had to deal with that. Especially when you’re not feeling well.
5) Loki!!! You clearly need an audience for you Cat-antics! Too funny.
Hope the softball and Nyquil at least eases your symptoms. Viruses take their own sweet time to clear out, unfortunately. But if you do find a way to rush it — bottle and sell it!
Here’s to your and LG’s swift recovery!

Viki, thanks on all! This week week was sort of a break I didn’t know I needed, and I enjoyed it!
1) C said yes right???? Congratulations!!! Such wonderful news. I love it. And whoa, bet that was a scary moment when Precious slid into the crevice. Since all was well, it’ll make for a fun part of their engagement story
Spunk trying to get into the bag to get his new toy had to be so cute!
2) It’s a high price to pay for clean floors and rugs, but I get how nice having things clean is. Hope you recover quickly.
3) Cool that your attracting new birds!! Hopefully a pair will snap up the birdhouse soon.
4) Um, okay. from the coldest and wettest winter to the hottest and driest summer is quite a leap! But not much would surprise me this year with the weird weather.
5) Spunk must be so happy!!!! You’re a good cat mom
Hope you have a nice, enjoyable weekend! I know Spunk will with his new toy!
