Friday Five

TGIF!!! Guess what time it is? That’s right — time to share 5 random things about our week. Here’s mine:

  1. Father’s Day is on Sunday. I don’t want to forget when I get to the bottom of this blog, so I’ll say it here: Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there! And I’d like to mention that Fathers are important to their children, and I want to thank the ones who show up and do all they can to help their child grow into a functioning, well rounded adult. It’s not an easy job, the hours suck and the pay is terrible. But it’s still the best job in the world, and every child needs a great dad like you! And of course, I’ll add that Wizard is a dad like that, and I will definitely remind him of that on Sunday!
  2. Wednesday we went to visit our granddaughter, CiGi!! She is full of smiles, and loves to pull up to standing now. She can crawl a bit, but she’s not really interested. She’d rather stand, and bounce around. I was playing a version of peek-a-boo with her, and she would laugh with me, then she’d peer around me to make sure Grandpa was also laughing with her. She’s such a little ham, just like her dad.
  3. Turbo called me Wednesday night just to tell me his dad was being mean to him. My son is in the background trying to defend himself, but I was having none of it and told my son he was in trouble. Turbo was very amused. By they way — this is all in fun, and my son was the one who set up the call for Turbo to tell on him. Turbo loves the fact that I can boss his dad around. To him, that’s an amazing power :-)
  4. Yesterday I ordered my new laptop. I decided on a bigger screen, but I chose not to get all the bells and whistles. This one has enough, and will be more than 0adequate for what I want to do now, and if I grow out of it at a later date, well, after much thought I decided that’s a problem for Future Jen.  I’m pretty excited about this laptop! It’s been a while since I’ve been excited about this kind of stuff. It won’t arrive until a week from today.
  5. Today Im planning to see Biker Witch. And this weekend, Wizard and Turbo are going to the RC car race track so Turbo can start practicing. I will go if Wizard can use my help — we’ll see. I don’t mind either way, plus Turbo’s mom will be there and I like hanging with her :-) Sunday, I’m not positive what the Father’s Day plan is yet, but as long as Wizard knows he’s appreciated, it’s all good.

That’s my five, now I’d love to hear yours! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Happy Father’s Day to Wizard and your grandbabies’ daddies. Yay for CiGi! LOL about Turbo calling to tattle on his dad. Yay for a new laptop! Yay for hanging out with Biker Witch and Turbo starting to practice on the RC track. I hope you have a great weekend!

    1) My tomato plants are getting big and bushy, but no flowers yet. Plus, the green pepper seeds I stuck in dirt are almost all peeking out of the dirt now.
    2) We have family issues (his side not mine) that are taking up most of my available brain space right now.
    3) Yesterday, I hit over 30 miles walked for the year. Woot.
    4) I might make a cake today. No reason – I just want cake.
    5) The house on the corner went up for sale this week. The last time it was for sale a few years ago it was like $125K. Now, they want $310K. I’m not sure what the realtors around here are thinking. It’s not like it’s lakefront or even lake view. Derp.

Happy Father’s Day to all the guys in your life. Yay for CiGi time and LOL on Turbo and Oldest. Yay for new laptop. I hope it’s easy to set up and serves you well. Yay for Biker Witch Time™ and a racing weekend. My five:

    1. I’m late getting around because I had to people this morning and I keep getting distracted. (I went to Wallyworld.)

    2. Speaking of Father’s Day, I forgot to get LG cards. Now I have to get out and people again.

    3. I made pattie melts for dinner last night. Ground sirloin and Vidalia onions. Sadly, I did not saute enough onions. Still, they were tasty!

    4. I had… Now I have no clue what I was going to say. I got interrupted after writing those 2 words and my brain… New topic. I came up with an idea on why Sade has to get involved with the situation that Ariel is in. I even wrote it down on a sticky note. And I found the sticky note. This is an accomplishment!

    5. Pete has decided to be a tomcat. He sleeps all day and then wants to be out at night. Late. LG and I take turns going to check the door. Last night, I fell asleep before Pete came in. I woke up at 4 a.m. and he was curled up in his normal spot. Cat.

The world is weird lately so everyone stay safe and have a good weekend. No plans for us. Except me getting out tomorrow to buy cards.

    1. Happy Father’s Day to al the dads. Yes, dads are very important in a child’s life and are a blessing!
    2. Way to go CiGi (I like this spelling.) She’s really growing into her own. It’s so much fun when they play with you like that.
    3. Turbo and his dad are too cute. It’s true though, moms can always discipline their kids, even in jest. I can see Turbo loving it ☺️.
    4. Yes! You are going to love your new laptop if for no other reason than it will be SO much faster. Technology grows fast.
    5. I hope you had a lovely time with Biker Witch. Whatever you do on Sunday, have fun!

1a. I went for the massage and pedicure that A gave me for Christmas. It was very nice and relaxing. I was embarrassed by my feet. As you know from working out, They are a callused mess. They look nice now.
2a. C and Luna are taking hubs to TN. C said don’t be surprised if they drive back tomorrow. It will be because he’ll have to go to work if the protests turn into riots downtown. He’ll have to help secure the buildings like he did a few years ago. I just don’t understand stupid people destroying things. They’ll get theirs in the end.
3a. It’s a dull warm and humid day today. I wish it would rain and be done with it.
4a. With hubs gone I’m going to clean out a kitchen cabinet he had always used for making bread. Since he can’t do it anymore all his flours and stuff need to go. If I try and do it with him here Somehow the stuff will get back in the kitchen. With him gone he’ll never realize it’s gone.
5a. Also with hubs gone, I’m going to open a bottle of wine tonight. If I don’t finish it before he gets back, I’ll transfer it to a jar and then add it to stew.

Have a great weekend and enjoy celebrating Father’s Day with Wizard!

    B.E., thanks on all!!

    1) I’m thinking you’ll get delicious tomatoes later this year, and yay for the pepper plants sprouting!
    2) Huge sympathies on the family issues. We get our share of those now and again, and it definitely sucks up mental/emotional energy.
    3) Congrats on your walking mileage!
    4) We never need a reason for cake!
    5) Sounds like your area is either taking off or has low inventory in available homes. At least it’s good for your resale value!

Hope you have a great weekend, and the family issue resolves.

Silver, thanks! I’m hoping setup is easy. I will likely have to buy some software, but we’ll see.

    1) Distractions happen to all of us!
    2) I didn’t get Wizard a card either.
    3) They sound tasty!! Grilling onions often takes patience that I lack :-)
    4) Wow…your brain is opening a lot of tabs today, LOL! But yay for writing down the idea and finding it when you actually needed it. I write stuff down on post it notes, then the post it note sticks to something random and I can’t find it until much later when I don’t need it. But I have developed a better system lately.
    5) Hmm, do you have cats in heat in your neighborhood? It sounds like Pete is on the Prowl! But at least he comes home!

I’m really hope you guys have a good weekend and LG a nice Father’s Day!

Viki, I like this spelling better too. This is the way I automatically write it, and I kept having to change it so I just gave in to my own spelling whims :-) I seriously doubt that sentence made any sense, LOL!

    1) Ah yes, the price of working out on our feet. But I’m glad you got out and enjoyed the massage and pedicure. You deserve it!
    2) I certainly hope it doesn’t turn into a riot and everyone stays safe. And I hope C and hubs have fun!
    3) Wouldn’t it be nice if the weather would cooperate? I hope you get relieve from the humidity.
    4) That sounds like a good plan to clean out when Hubs is gone. That way neither of you will be stressed.
    5) A perfect treat for you to enjoy some wine in a quiet house with Spunk as company! It’ll also enhance your stew if there’s any left :-)

    Have a good weekend! Cheers!
