I got nothing on reading today. I’m still trying to finish a book I like, but I keep falling asleep when I try to read at night. That probably has something to do with waking up around 4am lately And all that will resolve on it’s own so it’s not even a problem, just a reading bump at the moment.
So let’s talk about this: I’ve been following this trial via a few YouTube lawyers that I like who are all covering this case. The defendant had one hung jury already and as I write this blog, the jury is deliberating the second trial. To be clear, I don’t know this defendant or anyone involved. At all. But I am invested, and evidentially thinking I’m now a lawyer and a justice warrior, lol. I mean… this isn’t a TV show, this is real life, and someone died (the whole reason there’s a trial).
But I’m still invested. And really want what I think is the right verdict.
Anyone else get caught up in online stuff like that?
Or do you have books you want to share and discuss?

Your falling asleep while trying to read is well known by me 😉. I hope you are able to get your sleep cycle back in order so that you aren’t so tired. I never have.
How interesting. After severing on the attempted murder trial three years ago, I know I would love following the case like you are doing. Do they allow you to see things as a member of the jury or the gallery? I got called for Federal Grand Jury a couple months ago but because of hubs I was excused. If he were well I would gladly have served. I find it fascinating.
We’re having storms roll through and the heat wave is about to start – yuck.
I hope your day is going well.

Verdict is in. Not Guilty on everything but the DUI/Leaving accident. Like one of the pundits said, the victim’s family has no justice or closure. Also, the verdict does not prove she is innocent, only that there was not enough clear evidence to convict. That opinion is my own as a former Marshal of a state appellate court.
True crime can be fascinating. I’m keeping an eye on the trial in Idaho, too. But not closely.
Reading. Or in my case, listening. I’ve done some! I gave up and skimmed through 2 books, then grabbed a Jayne Castle to listen to in prep for the new release in the series. Finished that and currently listening to IT’S TAKES A PSYCHIC, the new release in her futuristic pararom Harmony series.
I need to be writing. LOL
Happy Hump Day.

Viki, much to my surprise, I did read for a while last night after I wrong the blog. Weird. Some nights I can’t get through 3 pages.
It depends on the lawyer. One I follow actually live streams the trial and you’re seeing what the jury sees. I don’t follow that one minute by minute. Other lawyers sum up what happened at the end of the day and show what they consider the most pertinent clips. I like “The Lawyer You Know” and “Emily D Baker” but their are lots more out there.
Hope the storm doesn’t cause you any headaches!

Silver, Yep I just watched it
I bet we have slightly different takes/opinions and would be fun to discuss in person. Online is too limiting and easy to misinterpret — but yeah, I feel for his family. They’ve been through a lot. I hope they can find peace though I’ve never lost and child and don’t even know how that would be possible. The Idaho trial is harder for me to stomach but I think I will follow it once it goes to actual trial. I am following the Sandra Birchmore case with interest. The FBI had to step into that one.
Jayne Castle is a great choice! I bet her newest book is fun too. I should keep her on my (mental) list. Glad you’re finding something you’re enjoying.
Happy Wednesday!
