Friday Five

TGIF!! Another week has zoomed by! And that means it’s time to share five random things about our week. Here’s mine:

  1. Choosing a theme (look and layout) for my new blog is hard. I’m mostly confusing myself. It’s all good though, this isn’t a life-altering decision and  playing around with the cloned site helps me get a working idea of what I’m looking for.
  2. My new laptop came! So far, I really like it. It’s fast. I’ve just started setting it up, but think it’s going to work well. It’s fast which is huge for me.
  3. Finding time lately to work on all my plans has been hard lately. That’s one of the reasons I’m so excited about the laptop — it’ll give me the flexibility to work anywhere — at the house or out of it.
  4. I’ve been watching tiny house and RV shows. I have no intention of getting a tiny house or an RV. It’s just a little mental vacation from some ongoing life stresses. Stress relief, even in little mini breaks is important and helpful.
  5. This weekend is unclear. If youngest comes to work on the deck, I’ll stay here while Wizard goes to see his mom (she’s getting older and needs more help — fortunately all the siblings are working together). If youngest doesn’t come over, I’ll go with Wizard to see her with him.

That’s my five, now I’d really love to hear yours! I hope everyone has a fun and productive weekend!

    1. I’m sure the theme will present itself to you when it’s ready and you will love it.
    2. Yippie! The new fast laptop 💗.
    3. The laptop will certainly make things easier and more flexible.
    4. I’m glad you found a nice little vacation viewing. After growing up in a trailer I could never live in a tin can again.
    5. Have a good weekend.

1a. Got my hair done today.
2a. My brother’s dog was in bad shape but it looks like he’s finally on the road to recovery. He had a cyst abscess. Had to go to Vet ER. The infection went to his bone. Hopefully the labs come back clean.
3a. Needless to say, my brother has cancelled his planned trip out here to visit me tomorrow. Can’t blame him. Smoke aka the dog needs tons of loving.
4a. We had bad storms Wednesday night. Lots of flooding. My pump has been running non-stop. C had a tree come down. It went east across the road instead of west and on his house. Thank goodness.
5a. Not sure what my weekend will be like. Hopefully nothing major happens.

    Have a great weekend!

Viki, I hear you on the trailer park experience. I have a different vision in that my kids like camping — well glamping really, with lots of sporty stuff happening too. So I like mock designing an RV where we can join in, but in reality I don’t want to take care of or maintain an RV :-)

    1) Yay for your hair! I do mine next Friday.
    2) Oh no, your poor brother’s dog! That sounds terrible, but I’m glad to hear he seems like he’s recovering now.
    3) I’m sorry you won’t get to see your brother. But I can understand why he’s staying home to care for the dog. I would too. Hopefully he can reschedule soon.
    4) That’s crazy weather! I hope it clears and you have some nicer weather.
    5) It sounds like you need a weekend with some good news.

I really hope you get some relaxation and fun this weekend. Or at least some wine!

Where did the day go?!?!?! *muppet flail* Decisions, decisions. You’ll get the new blog figured out. Yay for new laptop! Hope it does all you need it to do–in or out. I couldn’t live small. Nope. Not gonna! Weekends are good for family time–in whatever form. Okay, my totally boring five.

    1. Speaking of computers, I’m going to have to shop sooner than later. My desktop spontaneously shutdown because it overheated. Twice in one day. And then once another day. :(

    2. We lost a local icon (age/natural causes) and his Celebration of Life was today, televised by the local TV station where he forecast the weather for 40 years. Gary England literally wrote the book on severe storm prediction and coverage and use of radar. The eulogies were sweet and funny and full of wisdom, much like the man himself. I was doing great until they played taps on a bugle. I’m still teary eyed. Saddest damn song in the world. He was a Navy vet and there were two Navy enlisted there to do a flag folding. Anyway…

    3. I had a brilliant idea for the plot of my WIP last night and when I sat down to write today, I couldn’t remember what it was. Typing this, I remembered! Yes, I HAVE written it down this time.

    4. I don’t need a sauna. I can just step into the backyard for 5 minutes. It’s 92% humidity and 92 degrees out there. Ugh.

    5. No Pete story today. Instead, a Loki story. I went out to feed the other morning and when I opened the screen door to come back in, Loki came with the door–he’d hooked claws in the screen and climbed up about 18″. He swung out with the door, looked up at me with panic in his eyes, and hung on as I came in and pulled the door shut so he could unclaw inside. He looked so betrayed!

No weekend plans beyond staying in out of the heat and arguing with my dang characters. Have a great one all!

Silver, the blog will sort itself out. I’m trying to avoid building it myself for everyone’s sanity :-)

    1) You really do need a new computer! Those shutdowns are super aggravating. And a tad worrying.
    2) I’m so sorry. It sounds like your entire community has lost someone special. I’d like to add that he has likely saved lives with this knowledge of severe storms and coverage. It sounds like you had a tough day.
    3) Grrr!!! I’ve been there, thinking I surely won’t forget something to BIG. But glad you thought of it while writing your five!
    4) Whoa that’s some humidity you have going on if it’s in the sauna realm. Ugh.
    5) LOKI!! What exactly was your plan? LOLOL!! Cats are such crazy critters. Bet you were surprised to see him hanging onto the screen!

Hope you at least win the arguments with your characters this weekend! Stay cool and have a good one!
