Wednesday Reading

So yep, I was suckered. Again. By a book. I’ll explain. So I was intrigued by a title; “THE SCIENCE OF STUCK: Breaking Through Inertia to Find Your path Forward.” It started off good, talking about dealing with anxiety, the hidden benefits of being stuck and some steps to deal with that. Then, it quickly began to fall apart for me.

It’s all about expectations. I was looking for a book with with solid steps of forward motion.

This book delves into the psychology of drug use, traumas, relationship abuse and…wait for it…getting know know your shadow self, and then making friends with your shadow self.

It’s not for me. I’m sure it’s useful for many others who are looking for this information. Maybe for a 20-something type figuring herself out. People dealing with serious troubles. And those who have some curiosity would probably enjoy it too. It’s easy reading and not complex at all. I just had way different expectations.

But did I learn anything? Sure…I’m a sucker for good titles :-)

In audiobooks, I’m listening to “GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL LIFE” by Emily Henry and enjoying it. It’s just easy listening, and great for getting things done.

What are you reading?

**Programming Note: I’ll be out of town on Friday, so I’m not sure if I’ll post or not, depending of how busy we are. If not, I’ll try to post on Monday!

Have a great trip! And yeah, book titles, covers, and the first couple of chapters can lure you in like a big fat worm on a hook. And then WHAM! The author tries to hook you but you’ve snatched the worm and swum away. Is swum a word? Anyway…

I finished Kristen Ashley’s AVENGING ANGELS: TENDERFOOT. It’s classic KA fare. I’m currently listening to the dramatized adaptation of Ilona Andrews’ SMALL MAGICS–a series of short stories set in and out of her Kate Daniels world. Not sure what will be next. I just grabbed Kristen Painter’s THE GARGOYLE BEQUILES THE BEAUTY from her Nocturne Falls series. It might be next or …not sure. We’ll see what catches my attention when I done with MAGICS.

    Enjoy your trip! Be safe!

I’m sorry about you getting suckered by the title of the book. We all do it. It is a sham that this one didn’t follow through and actually be helpful. Shadow self 😂 – right.

    Have a wonderful weekend trip.

I finished Joey’s book. It was good. He spotlighted many heroes that we often don’t celebrate enough. They pretty much told their stories and Joey commented throughout.

Have a wonderful time this weekend.

    HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!

Silver, swum works for me in this context. Seriously, I had high hopes which in retrospect was kind of silly.

You’re on a paranormal roll! Which makes sense :-) All good authors, and I’m glad you’re finding something to enjoy.

If I don’t get back online — Happy Fourth of July!

Viki, yeah, the shadow self thing was when I knew I was on a whole different train than I envisioned, LOL. I get it’s role in psychology, just not what I was looking for.

Thanks on the trip. It should be fun.

It sounds like a really interesting book. I’m really glad you liked it after waiting so patiently for it.

I hope you and yours have a good 4th too! Stay safe!
