Friday Five
TGIF!! Am I the only one constantly surprised with how fast Friday comes? Okay, let’s do this and share five random things about our week! Here’s mine:
- I had a couple low key days this week and loved it! Normally I do more things, but I just enjoyed a slower pace.
- Um, our freezer is fixed? Maybe we accidently fixed it when we couldn’t get the last screw out to take the drawer out? I don’t know…but I’m sure as heck not complaining!
- Wednesday, Wizard and I went in the afternoon heat to begin the long process of looking at cars. We tend talk about getting a new car for two years before we actually do it, so basically, the story is one day in the next days, months, or years, we will replace our Camry…or not, LOL.
- I got new pots and pans! Amazon Prime had some decent deals, and I found a set I liked. And then…I did zero research because every time I have done research in the past, I found a reason to not buy them. And we really needed new pans as my old ones are worn out. I’m very proud of myself for buying them…and hope they work as well as I think they will. They are basically a reasonably priced cross-breed of stainless steel with a blue diamond non stick coating. I just washed them and put them away, so I’ll let you know in the coming weeks if I’m happy with them.
- Yesterday, we went to see our granddaughter CiGi…I know, I know, we just saw her! But guys, she recognizes us and cries if I don’t hold and play with her right away. I mean what’s a Grandma to do??? Then we found out her other Grandma is coming out today, so little CiGi is getting all the Grandma love!!! But boy do I miss Turbo. I need to get out to see him soon (Wizard has been racing with him, so he sees him more lately.)
That’s my five, now I’d love to hear yours! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

The older you get, the more time flies. Which kinda sucks when you think about it. Yay for low-key days! Yay for your freezer… I love it when things fix themselves. I’m looking forward to reading about your new car, when and if you get it. Yay for new pots & pans! Yay for CiGi time and fingers crossed you get Turbo time soon. :hugs:
1) I’m super pleased with being able to get rid of Brightspeed this week. I got rid of DirectTV, too, but the BS with BS has gone on so long, it’s way more WOW.
2) Hubs and I are loving Roku. We’ve been starting new shows and old favorites from the beginning and watching forward. It’s all pretty much new to us, so yay.
3) Nature is a bitch sometimes. Lumpy lost her baby and she’s not looking great herself. She’s an old deer, so not super unexpected, but still sad.
4) My tomato plants are flowering. Fingers crossed I will get tomatoes soon.
5) I repotted a bunch of stuff on the deck, but I ran out of dirt. I need to go get some more so I can finish the process. I need to get my pepper plants into bigger pots so they can flower, too.

Time flies. And it sucks!
Low key is good. Always! Uhm…you must have been holding your mouth just right. 🤞🏼 the fix is in. Shopping for new cars IS a process.
Yay for pulling the quick trigger on the pans. Only caution is do NOT overheat the blue diamond coating. Don’t leave them on high heat for very long at all. It will discolor the finish and makes it a little harder to clean. Yay for CiGi time but get your tush out to see Turbo! Okay, my VERY boring 5:
1. I left a great book off my Wednesday reading post comment. Sherrilyn Kenyon’s HOUSE OF FIRE & MAGIC: MYTHS & OUTLAWS Book 1. Unicorns and dragons. I inhaled it. I really hope there are many more books in the series.
2. I broke my iPhone case. It dropped out of my bag and hit the pavement in the parking lot after my Wallyworld run. The plastic backing broke into pieces but the rubber underlay stayed on so the phone is good but had to get a new case.
3. I made my new “casserole” for dinner this week. It’s crescent rolls, eggs, milk, cheese, and ham. Oh, and scallions or chives. I use chives. You roll up the crescents and put in the bottom of the pan, then pour the mix over it and bake. It’s really easy and yummy.
4. My WIP has gone off the rails. I really need to stop writing snippets from prompts. I mean, I do this weekly but this weeks snippet put the whole thing on it’s ear. Sort of. The snippet is demanding that it be chapter 1. I’m currently on chp. 5. 🤦🏼♀️😆🤦🏼♀️ *sigh* Yes, I will write a whole chapter arond the snippet and yes, it will probably now be chapter 1.
5. Pete is finicky. He loves the Friskies Lil Soups treats. I order them from Chewy. Chewy created their own version and it was cheaper so I ordered a month’s supply. Pete won’t touch them. I gave up and ordered the “real” soups. They’ll be here today. Hopefully, he’ll get over his snit because he’s being a real pain.
It was mostly an unevently week. No terrible-awful things happened. No awesome-wow things happened. Such is life. Have a great weekend, all!

1. A couple slow days do you good now and then 😊.
2. Thank heaven the freezer is fixed. If it was a fix you don’t know you did – all the better.
3. I remember your car buying trials from the past. It did take you a little bit of time before you decided on one.
4. Congratulations on the new pans! I hope you love them. I keep thinking about replacing mine too. I thought my Circulon would have held up better especially since I hand wash them but no. I still have my Rever ware too and I love it. It’s 42 years old and still in great shape but it’s not non-stick.
5. Cigi has had lots of grandma lovin’! She’s so cute and you must love her happiness at seeing you. Sure hope you are able to see Turbo soon.
1a. I had my caclite tank (acid neutralizer) topped off two weeks ago and Sunday when it did it’s flush it decided to leak. Hopefully they will be here Monday as promised. The puddle on the basement floor drives me nuts.
2a. Our OnDemand quit working and I have had Spectrum out twice over the past week trying to fix it. Fingers crossed that they succeeded this time.
3a. It’s HOT – YUCK!
4a. My SIL had that bad car accident last week and is very slowly recovering. She still can’t get into her own bed to sleep but with 5 broken vertebra I’m not surprised.
5a. I really want to wash windows but it’s just too hot to go outside and then it is supposed to rain all weekend. I guess I’ll play it by hear. They really need to be washed 😉.
I hope you have a great weekend!

B.E., a lot of things that suck happen when we get older
I have a guess how we fixed the freezer, but who knows. As long as it’s working right, then it’s all good.
1) It must feel amazing to solve your issues with a new provider! I don’t love Spectrum for our TV, but we’ve been living with it as other things have been taking priority lately. I am happy with their Internet but it could be I don’t know what I’m missing out on.
2) You guys are living the dream now with Roku! We use that for our extra TV and love it. Glad you’re enjoying so many shows!
3) That’s very sad. I hope she’s able to recover. Grief in animals is real.
4) I bet you have a bumper crop of potatoes soon! Then you can make your own pizza sauce if you want to! Well, there’s actually a ton of things you could do with them, but when I think of you, pizza comes to mind, LOL.
5) Go get the dirt! You’ve got an amazing garden going. Enjoy it!!!
Hope you have a good weekend.

Silver, thanks for the tip on the pans. I generally try not to do that, but I’m very capable of getting distracted or impatient
And yeah, I’ll text the parental unit soon and find out if they’re around Sunday for me to see Turbo. I need to see him.
1) I grabbed a Kindle Sample of the book, thanks for mentioning it!!
2) Oh no! But so relieved the phone didn’t break! The case is much less expensive to replace, and it did it’s job protecting the phone.
3) That casserole does sound good. I love having those easier go-to’s on hand for easy meals and leftovers.
4) Well, that’s one way to do it, LOL!! But your process has always been fitting the book together in-not-always-linear pieces, so don’t mess with it if it works.
5) Pete!!! She bought a whole month’s worth!! Couldn’t you have metnioned this before she hit order on Chewy???? Sigh…animals do this. Will the ferals eat it? Or Loki?
I didn’t think you’re five were boring! These days for me, as long as nothing terrible happened, will call it a good week. Have a good weekend!

Viki, it’s getting harder to buy cars due to Wizard’s needs these days too. I’m insisting it be easy and comfortable for him even if it may be the car I’ll drive more often.
1) The puddle would bug me too. I’m sorry you’re having to deal with another repair and repair-person. I never them fun.
2) How hard can it be to fix? Sigh…I’m not in love with Spectrum’s service.
3) I feel you on the heat! But you probably have more humidity so you’ve got it worse.
4) Yikes and Ouch! I’m so sorry for your poor sister in law. I can’t even imagine how uncomfortable she must be. Fingers crossed she’ll be up to sleeping in her own bed soon.
5) Smart to wait on the windows. Why do all that work in the heat just for the rain to undo it?
I hope you get some relief from the heat soon and have a good weekend!
