Friday Five
TGIF!! Here we are again on Friday and I’m my usual, “How did that happen???” But it’s here and it’s time to share five random things about our week. Here’s mine:
- I’m working on my blog stuff. I have a lot to do, so it’ll be a while. I have a question, but for context, the new blog will be different. More of a lifestyle blog (loosely), and I’ll start with one main post a week. Not the casually, unedited chatty type I do now. However, I’m thinking about keeping Friday Five if any of you are still interested in that kind of interaction?? Any answer is totally cool, I’m aware that some or all may not be interested in a different version of the blog at all.
- I learned from working on all this how much I missed writing. But I don’t miss the pressures, deadlines and things that were beyond my control.
- It’s been a tad cooler this week. Enough that I repotted a couple plants and Wizard did a major weed and clean of our backyard hill area. I don’t know how he still does it, but he manages.
- So far, I really like my new pans. Especially for the price
But seriously, I do like them and am happy that I took a chance on them. It’s only been a couple weeks so we’ll see how I feel in a few months. I’m pretty hard on my kitchen tools.
- It’s been a quietish week and this weekend will be fairly calm. All the kids are busy — two are traveling and one is dog sitting for one of his traveling brothers. I haven’t decided what kind of kid free trouble I might want to get into, but if I do something crazy, I’ll let you all know on Monday!
That’s my rather boring five, now I’d love to hear yours! I hope everyone has a good weekend!

New blog stuff? Cool. I mean, I like it the way it is, but I won’t scurry off if you change it. You do you and I’ll roll with it. I hope you do get back to writing again. Go low pressure this time, write when and what you want, however you want. :hugs: Yay for cooler and being able to garden! Yay for your new pans working the way you want them to! Yay for quiet. Don’t get into too much trouble this weekend. I don’t want to hear about you needing bail money. (Although that would be kind of exciting… lol)
1) Our Starlink went out for a couple hours yesterday. It was harrowing, especially considering I’ve got all our eggs in that one basket – internet, TV, and phone. Thank goodness I had books to read.
2) I have two tomatoes growing on my plants now and loads of flowers.
3) Somehow when I wasn’t looking Finn grew some more and now he’s not that much smaller than Sawyer. Sawyer’s still a moose, though.
4) I’m thinking about doing a NaNo type thing next month to jumpstart my writing again.
5) Last night, Hubs and I watched an old Agatha Christie / Hercule Poirot movie that I’d never seen and also that I’d never read the book it was based on – Appointment with Death. I was a little amazed, because I didn’t think there were any of those movies I hadn’t seen or read. It was pretty fun. =o)

Well…alrighty then. Ditto everything B.E. said re: everything you said. That was easy. LOL Even though I witch about it, I do enjoy Friday Five. So my five.
1. There was a big spider in my window. It somehow got trapped between the screen and the glass. It didn’t move. At all. For a week. It is gone this morning.
2. Jake and I had an interesting trip to Wallyworld. We met a lady in town for the Arabian horseshow. We were laughing about how *special* Arabs are when a boy and his mom walked by. The kid was talking to her about the big dog. A few minutes later, they came back by headed to the checkout. He was still talking about the big dog. I called over to see if he wanted to pet. Mom brought him over but he got shy. He’s on the spectrum, loves dogs, but is hesitant. I finally coaxed him to pet Jake’s back. “Sooo fluffy!” he told his mom, face shining. He petted some more and I though Mom was going to cry happy tears. It was a good trip to the store. 🥰
3. Have you seen the story about the Seattle woman suing the Blue Angels for “torturing” her elderly cat and then blocking the woman on Instagram when she went on a f-bomb-laced tirade in their comments? LG and I spent an hour last night playing out what happens when that case comes to federal court. There’s too much to quote but we were both laughing ’til our sides hurt.
4. Let’s not talk about writing, umkay? I’m chasing my tail. I got about 1300 words yesterday. Tossed ’em today and plan on rewriting the scene. But first, MORE coffee!
5. I walked into the garage the other day and saw Pete sitting in front of his cat door intently staring out. I caught a shadow on the other side so I “popped” the garage door. Denance the Menace sat on the other side. Neither moved despite the noise the door makes. The Menace blinked first and moved off only to flop in the driveway. Pete emerged, sat just outside the line where the door would come down and continued to stand watch. Cats.
Have a great weekend, everyone!

1. I’ll stick around no matter how you redo the blog. I do like Friday Five even if I struggle to get here, like today 😉.
2. All the pressure of writing stinks but I get that you miss writing too. Maybe when you have the blog together you can just write a little for your own pleasure and see where it goes.
3. I noticed that it has been cooler out your way. Taking advantage of it and getting the garden/yard work done is smart.
4. It’s wonderful that you’re loving your new pans. Getting the deal makes it even better.
5. A nice quiet weekend sounds good. Enjoy it.
1a. C had a property come up for sale 3 doors down from him and thought we should buy it and he would flip it. The pictures were horrid. The man who died there appeared to be a recluse. The sale was “as is” so I told him to put in an offer that I thought would cover the land. So far crickets from the relator.
2a. Last night my cousin text me to tell me that my mom’s house just went on the market. My mom had given it to my cousin before she died and my cousin sold it right away. It looks like the people lived in it for about 2 years and all they did was paint but are asking $50K more than they paid. The photos they took show it off nicely and the drone photos show how close it is to Lake Ontario, about 1000 yards.
3a. I got my hair done today 🥰.
4a. I bought a pair of Sketchers from QVC and they arrived yesterday. They are SO comfortable. They are arch fit and slip ons. Right now only sold at QVC. I may have to buy another pair 😆.
5a. No plans for the weekend other than standard stuff like banking. Speaking of – I ordered checks 2 1/2 weeks ago from hubs bank and they shipped 12 days ago and still are not here. If they aren’t here by Monday I will have to call.
Enjoy the quiet weekend.

B.E, wow thanks for the support! I want to return social media and make the blog a part of that journey. It’s not looking like there’ll be a lot of trouble around to get into, but I’m make a note not to get arrested, LOL. Oh and right now, I’m just writing some blogs and trying not to pressure myself. I’m aware that my personality gets carried away and causes me trouble!
1) Yikes that does sound like a rough two hours. Isn’t it scary when we realized reliant (as in addicted) we are on technology? Glad you were able to power through with old fashion reading!
2) Nice! You’re going to have lots of fresh tomatoes to enjoy.
3) Is Finn a late bloomer? They are littermates if I remember correctly. But yay Finn for growing! LOL on Sawyer!
4) Do it!! What can it hurt? If you’re not feeling it, at least you tried and that matters.
5) Maybe you’ll also find the book at a used book store. It’s been so cool that you guys find lots to watch now.
Hope you have a great weekend!!

Silver, thank you for the ditto-support
Seriously I appreciate it.
1) Wow the spider was there for a week? I wonder if the Spider S.E.A.L. team finally rescued him? I mean…spiders could have heroes like that…
2) That was an amazing trip to Wallyword and I story I’m happy you shared today. I love it. You and Jake are awesome and you know you made that child’s day.
3) I still can’t get past the Blue Angels torturing her cat. I mean…she’s just screams a stereotype I hate of Crazy Cat Lady. Nope I haven’t heard it, and when I’m sitting around tonight, I’ll look it up!
4) Man, Silver, I feel for you on that thing we’re not talking about. I have not forgotten that feeling. Hope fueling up on coffee helped!
5) Would it be cool to have an English translation of their cat body language? I will say, Pete appeared to make it clear exactly where his line is. Too funny! But I’m also glad there wasn’t a cat fight.
Hope you have a really good weekend. And if that thing we’re not talking about still isn’t cooperating — take the weekend off. Do something fun. Your subconscious will work on it.

Viki, that you! Like I told Silver and B.E., I appreciate the support. Also, sorry today was a struggle to get here. I want to work on projects I care about, but I need to learn so much. It will definitely be a work in progress
And yes, the cooler weather has been nice. We still use the air, but can do things outside for a good part of the day.
1) Wow that’s a big decision. Is this to flip and sell? Or for you to live in? In any case, I hope that if this is the right property, you get it. It could be that they are collecting offers for a period of time before they respond. Fingers crossed!
2) Your mom’s house sounds like a nice place in a good area. But yeah, it’s shocking how much people can flip properties for in two years–even with minimal updates like painting–when the market is on the seller’s side.
3) I hope you feel great after getting your hair done!
4) I love when that happens! Finding the right shoes I can wear is hard, so I would definitely buy a second pair!
5) 12 days for the post office to deliver checks sounds like something went wrong to me. What a pain for you to have to call and get them to track it, or cancel that series and send you knew ones. I did once have our checks misdelivered to another street in our housing track. The smart lady there realized they were checks, opened them and used the phone number on the checks to call me. I picked them up and have never forgetting her kindness. She saved us a ton of hassle.
Hope you have a great weekend and hear something back from the realtor.
