Wednesday Reading and Catchup

I’m here!! Sorry I missed posting on Monday. We had to unexpectedly go to my Mother in Law’s house, stay with her, and handle some issues. All four siblings in the state are helping out, so it’s not just us. We had very limited internet access and zero time for me to try to post. Between that and celebrating my birthday,  it was a weirdly fun and very stressful few days. But seriously, I had a great birthday, and as of yesterday calm had return our lives to normal business not wild and a little crazy.

Now onto reading. I quickly downloaded Sherrilyn Kenyon’s “Simi, (Shadow of Fire, Book 5) onto my Kindle, but haven’t started it yet before writing this blog. While driving all over the place, I finally went back to listening to the audio book I was mad about. I find the plot and setting really interesting, the romance bores me. But I’ve decided to finish the book, and then I’ve loaded two other books on audio. I feel like I might be driving a lot, so I’m ready :-) Audio books and interesting podcasts make long drives and traffic a heck of a lot more bearable!

Did I miss anything Monday? What are you reading or listening to?

I wondered where you were on Monday. (Even if I don’t always comment, I’m usually here to read posts.) I hope your MIL is okay. :hugs: I’m so glad you had a great birthday. And I hope the calm continues for you. Yay for good things to read and listen to!

You didn’t miss anything here. I’m supposed to be doing a ‘write every day’ August (AuGoWriMo), but I’m failing at it. I need to kick myself in the buns and just write. As for reading, I’m in the middle of a YA novel about kids with mysterious powers. They don’t understand them yet and I don’t know where it’s going, but the writing is solid and it’s enthralling, so yay.

Wow. Crazysauce but glad things are calming and all (mostly) working out. I haven’t read any of Simi’s books. I may have to go back and do a marathon of Sherrilyn’s Hunters to catch up and remind.

I’m doing a relisten to Thea Harrison’s Elder Races series. I’ve finished off DRAGON BOUND and STORM’S HEART. I’m a few chapters into SERPENT’S KISS. It’s been several years so it’s fun to “rediscover” her world.

This has been a crazy week but I’ll save the news for Friday Five. *bwahaha*

    Happy reading, all!

B.E., thanks for noticing I wasn’t here Monday :-) This is day 2 of calm and we are loving it. I hope things work out with the plan we made, but we’ll see. My MIL is okay at the moment.

I actually really like YA and the one you’re reading sounds good.

The writing thing is so hard — just keep trying and you’ll get back into the habit. I’m struggling to find consistent time slots to write (blogs and later, podcasts), but that’s not where my life is at the moment.

I hope your week is good overall!

Silver, yeah, it’s been wild. But my MIL is 93 and has some dementia (not bad) and her care must come first.

I’m finding the opening of Simi’s book a little teeth grinding. It’s written in her POV as a young demon, and the her childish wording is a bit of a struggle for my brain, and we are seeing the set up through a confused child’s eyes so it’s harder for me to lock onto it. I think that will smooth out. And let’s not forget, I’m distracted by life so I’m easily annoyed :-)

Thea Harrison did build a fun world! Glad you’re enjoying the revisit.

Ohhh!!! Now I’m anticipating your Friday Five. I hope it’s all positive crazy + news. We’ll find out on Friday!

    Happy Hump Day!

Sorry you had some bumps in the road this weekend. I hope everything is okay with Wizard’s mom.

What did you have for dessert Friday?

I only did the first floor windows and it took me over 4 1/2 hours. When I get up to the second floor it should go faster since there aren’t as many windows.

I hope your day has been going well!

Viki, thanks. Wizard’s mom is okay right now.

We shared a chocolate lava cake with some ice cream. It was super rich and delicious.

Window cleaning is hard work! But at least the second floor should go faster. I bet it’s nice to have clean windows downstairs!

My day’s been going well for the most part, and I hope your day is good too!
