Weekend Roundup

Happy Monday! Time is flying over here. Sheesh, I can barely keep up.

Friday, I had a really nice lunch with Biker Witch. It was great to see her. We only did lunch and not shopping because it was blazing hot, and she had some appointments to handle. But the lunch was so good!

Saturday, we went out to see CiGi. Oldest son came over too and made the mistake of taking CiGi from me. She cried :-) Okay she’s not really that much a grandma’s girl, she was just overwhelmed at first by Uncle Oldest. By the time we all went to lunch, they were fast friends and having fun. We all had a great time.

Sunday, we bought a car. We’ve been seriously looking for weeks, and finally made a deal. First, I’m thankful that we can now do Internet/phone deals before we drive over there. We’d already looked at the car (we’ve been really busy lately, LOL) We are very happy. Normally we’d have held onto our Camry much longer as it’s a good car, but CA is really pushing electric vehicles and EV’s just don’t fit our drive-all-over lifestyle, so we accelerated our typical plan to get a gas car we wanted. Man I’m glad to have that done!

So the weekend was good, but another wild ride in various ways. I’m tired, but I have absolutely nothing to complain about this weekend :-)

Oh!!! Cigi is eleven months old!! And her mom and dad have a One Year Old birthday party planned for her in early September! We’re looking forward to that, but does she really have to grow up so fast? Turbo is seven and starting second grade! Do grandkids grow up even faster than our own kids????

That’s my weekend, how was yours?

Last question first. YES! They really do grow up that fast, which is twice as fast as their parents. Yay for Biker Witch time. Awww. CiGi and Uncle Oldest, but shame on him for horning in on Grandma Time™! Yay for new car–what did you get?!?!? Y’all crammed a lot into the weekend for sure.

My weekend was a series of Search-n-Rescue mission in response to Toby’s Search-n-Destroy missions. 🤦🏼‍♀️ He is totally a Pyrenees when it comes to the chewing. He has multiple chew toys in multiple configurations. Instead, he went after Pete’s napping cushion, an innocent Kleenex box, a throw blanket, my flipflops and other multple shoes, and my favorite T-shirt. At least he hasn’t gone for the first edition books like Max, our first Pyre did. He’s doing a little less of the howling through the night but is far more distructive with the whole hunting/capturing/chewing forbidden items.

On a happier note, he is giving Pete a mostly-wide berth. He’s still hunting Loki, who only comes out in the morning after we put the dogs in the yard.

I made patty melts for dinner last night. The grilled onions were sweet, the beef tasty, and grilled-in-butter Texas toast with cheese is always yummy.

I came across a recipe this morning and thought of you. I haven’t tried it but I’ll be “featuring” on my blog tomorrow. It’s chocolate pumpkin muffins and made with cake mix and pumpkin puree. That’s it. Anyway, you can check it out tomorrow if you’re interested.

In the meantime, I need to run a Toby patrol. He’s not sleeping in my office doorway and is waaay too quiet. Have a great week!

Glad you were able to have lunch with Biker Witch. Too bad no shopping but we all get it.

Oh no poor Eldest Uncle. It’s sweet that CiGi didn’t want to be taken away from Grandma. I’m glad the two of them were back to having fun by lunchtime.

Nice on the car! Smart of you guys to plan ahead on getting a gas powered car. I will NEVER get an EV. It’s the same with power tools with me. Electric stink. They’re not as powerful and the charge doesn’t last very long.

I did crazy stuff around the house and shopping this weekend. I have to go the Fed Ex tomorrow and send back a Spectrum box. They send me a new one thinking that may solve all of the problems. We’ll see. It took an hour with them on the phone to set the new box up.
    Frustrating.

I hope you are having a nice afternoon and are staying inside with the AC.

Silver, thanks on all! Technically Oldest “booked” the time with Cigi before us, LOL. But we will still shame him!! We got a BMW 330i.

It sounds like Toby’s Search-n-Destroy mission is a bit ahead of your Search-n-Rescue mission :-) I promise I’m laughing with you, dogs are beautiful souls, but also tornadoes that rip apart and reorder your life pretty quickly. The night howling and disturbances are harder to deal with in my opinion. But you are good at training so I know you’ll get this under control in time!

Loki must be very good at hiding. I’m amazed at how well you’re handing two cats and two dogs! Plus the visiting ferals. It’s a lot!

Man those patty melts sound amazing!

I must check out your blog tomorrow to see the recipe. I’ve used pumpkin like that so it should work and it sounds good! I’d add chocolate chips too :-)

Uh oh, I hope quiet Toby was sleeping rather than destroying!

Hope you have a good week and Toby settles in and learns the house rules quickly!

Viki, thanks, I really didn’t mind skipping shopping since we were at an outdoor center. I was really happy just to spend time with her.

Uncle Eldest knows his way around winning over kids. But I did gloat for fun :-) He got me back by snapping a pic of me, Wizard and Cigi as I was making a face. I should find that pic and post it for fun.

I feel for you on the Spectrum Issues with the tv. We have them too. The internet is fine, but Wizard likes TV stuff, especially sports and Spectrum is a weekly frustration for him too. I hope you got it all sorted out.

I know people who have EVs and seem happy with them. I think it’s different lifestyles, and ours is not compatible. And Wizard grew up with muscles cars and doesn’t really like change much these days :-)

We are in and out of the heat today but we have the air on! We’re trying to get caught up in our lives, and starting to learn about this new car. Hope you’re having a good day!
