Um…what reading? I’ve been too tired at night, although last night I did read for about an hour. It’s still the Simi book by Sherilyn Kenyon. It’s slower and mostly what I would consider backstory of the characters in the original Dark Hunter Series. It’s not bad, just not what I was expecting. It is good for my distracted state, meaning it’s easy to put it down, then pick it back up whenever I feel like reading.
I also started an audio book “Every Summer After” by Carly Fortune. It’s not really catching my interest yet, but that’s probably me. Lots on my mind and all that. We are still worried about my MIL’s living situation but it’s a fluid and complicated situation — which is probably a good description of life in general
Wizard and I are planning a trip to the bookstore soon, in the meantime I have 3 nonfiction books in my Amazon cart that I’m thinking about. Lately, I’ve been on a bad judgement streak on books and movies, LOL!
In other news, I am excited to try an easy slow cooker recipe for Peach Pork Picante using boneless pork chops this week. I’m not big on pork, but these sounded good. Hopefully I’ll be able to update you on Friday.
Also, I’m thinking about those Chocolate Pumpkin Muffins Silver posted on her blog yesterday. Click on the link if you’d like to see. Such an easy version of muffins! I can can make and eat them with regular cake mix, but if I make them for youngest, I’d probably try to convert my gluten free cake batter to work with the pumpkin puree…hmm…it might work if I make the dry ingredients. Not sure it’d have the same rise and texture though. I must ponder this
What are you guys reading?

Sorry to see that you’re in a reading slump. And sorry that you have so much on your mind. I hope things work out for your MIL. :hugs: I hope your pork recipe is awesome. We’re eating a lot more pork lately because beef prices are so outrageous, so I’ll be interested in your take on the peach pork picante. For me, peaches and pork go really well together. Good luck with your cooking and your reading!
Right now, after my own reading slump strewn with loads of DNFs, I’m back to reading Agatha Christie and the Poirot omnibus I’ve been working through since June. I’ve also been watching too much TV still… damn Roku and it’s plethora of awesome shows/movies. But despite that, I’m finally back to writing. Two days in a row for about 2700 words. Woot.

Sending good thoughts for the family situation. Betty Crocker makes a gluten-free devil’s food cake mix. I like pork but sadly, LG does not. As for the reading, yeah…been there. Hope you find something that catches your attention but the slow reads are okay when that’s what you need.
I’m still on the Thea Harrison Elder Races series marathon. I’m currently listening to DESTINY’S TAROT which has 2 novellas set in the world. Next full novel will be LORD’S FALL, which is #5. I think. Anyway, I’m doing a chronological listen. It’s been like 5 years, so while I sort of remember the stories, I don’t really remember the details.
Good reading all!

Have a great time at the book store.
I plan on making those muffins too.
Let me know how you like the pork and if it’s a win please post a link to the recipe.
Today A came over and took me and hubs to Holden Arboretum (a beautiful tribute to nature 30 minutes away) and then to lunch. Afterwards we went to White House Chocolates and bought WAY too much chocolate for 3 people. Good thing we’re sharing.
I hope you are staying cool and having a great day!

B.E., thanks on my MIL, I appreciate it. So true on beef prices. We’ll see on the pork chops.
Sorry about your DNF pile. Honestly, I’m just not as patient with books as I once was.
Wow you must have broken away from Roku to write 2700 words! Congrats!!
Happy Writing!

Silver, thanks on the gluten free cake mix tip. I haven’t tried them but I’ve seen them. I was thinking I probably have what I need on hand
Revisiting series can be fun! Glad you found one you are enjoying.
Happy Hump Day!

Viki, we will as soon as we make time to go. Life just keeps changing course, LOL. But the bookstore will be there. And I’ll definitely post the recipe if the pork dinner comes out good.
What a wondering sounding afternoon! It really sounds like a lovely Arboretum. And can you ever have too much chocolate???? Sharing is very generous of you
Hope everyone enjoys them and I’m happy you and hubs had a great day with A.
Hope your day, and week, is going well!
