Weekend Roundup

This one is easy to roundup my weekend — cleaning. Not exciting at all, but good to get done.

One bright spot — I made a batch of chocolate chip cookies (gluten and dairy-free) for Youngest. Then later that day Youngest tried to shake me down with a text: “Send my $75.00 for a picture of Cigi”

I replied, “Are you visiting her?

His reply was a rude demand. “Now it’s $80.00” I was being shaken down by my own son for a picture of my granddaughter. Can you believe the nerve?

But I had an answer for the amateur blackmailer. “I baked you cookies.”

He sent the picture. I mean seriously, where does he think he learned to do these shakedowns?

And this is the kind of text shenanigans that go on in our family text chain, or in separate texts, all the time.  Last week, oldest was taunting me with a picture of me making a crazy weird face at Cigi. I really should change my phone number.

How was your weekend?

    ROFL… you guys kill me.

The weekend here was hot, so I didn’t get much of anything done. Excuses, excuses… I know. I did exercise yesterday morning, but now I’m paying for it. Derp. Ah, well, I’ll do it again today and my body can just lump it.

Your family is da bomb! And you’d think the kids would figure it out. Shakedowns. Sarcasm. We are the source!

Stormy had soccer. They won 2 of 3. We made it to the first game on Saturday. Took both dogs. Jake was perfect. Toby was…playful. He’s had no training and he’s stubborn but he’s learning. His Service Dog In Training vest arrives today. Then we’ll get serious.

We didn’t make the other games because it was hot and dogs and people did not handle it well. I napped most of Saturday aftrnoon. Bless AC. I cleaned some Sunday. We are having to puppy proof the whole house. Yippee. At least my dressing table top is bare. Now I have to figure out where to stash all the stuff that was on it.

    Have a great week, all!

😂😂You and your boys are so funny. You knew the cookies would work as the best ransom ❤️.

Getting cleaning done is so rewarding. Tiring but a good tired.

The two boys (no DIL’s), hubs and I went out for dinner Saturday for my birthday. It was really nice. A was on a biking trip and C is out west still.

Sunday C came over and he and I (really I just watched) got so much of the dead stuff cleaned up around the driveway. It looks so much better but there is still a lot to do. For 4 years now nothing was really done to clean up.

I stood way too long and my foot is SO swollen and hurts like a bugger. I have my yearly with the doc tomorrow and I will have her look at it but there is really nothing you can do other than stay off of it. Like that’s going to happen😉.

    Have a great afternoon!

B.E., people either laugh or want to slap us, LOL.

Ugh on the heat. It’s not an excuse, it’s a reality. Even Exercising early is smart. But sorry for the soreness/stiffness. It’s not fun.

Hope Monday is being good to you!

Silver, I agree! Kids should realize we mastered shakedowns and sarcasm while they were still in diapers. But there are times when I wonder why I taught them to talk, let alone read and write.

Congrats to Stormy and his team for the 2 out of 3 wins! You know, Toby is going to be an amazing dog in just a few months time. Jake will help him learn too. But I know it’s a lot to take on. But it sounds like he’s generally a happy enthusiastic boy who wants to be with everyone.

With the heat and the dog chaos, I would think one game was plenty for you guys! Stormy knows you get to every game you can, but the heat and stress of a new family member is tiring. Glad you guys rested after that!

Good luck with the puppy proofing. Hopefully Toby is a fast learner!

    Happy Monday!

Viki, yep I knew! BLB would be devastated if he lost his cookie supplier.

It did feel good to make a dent in the chores piling up (in my mind, no one else cares, LOL).

Yay for a nice birthday dinner! Sometimes it’s nice to have a smaller group since your DILs were out of town. What did you get for dinner? Dessert?

C is such a hard worker and so helpful to you. I’m sorry it’s all piled up but it sounds like he really made a huge dent. And you really need to rest that foot. But trust me, I know it’s hard to get off and stay off it these days. I get it, and I’m just as guilty of doing it too.

Good idea to have the doctor take a look at it.

I hope you’re able to rest your foot this afternoon and evening!
