Friday Five
TGIF! Time to share five random things about our week. Here’s mine:
- It was an eventful week, but some of it isn’t my personal news so I can’t share it yet. Don’t you hate when people tease like that? I do! And yet…I did, LOL.
- Wednesday, I did blood work. This was a personal record for me: 13 vials! It was so much, the tech used a butterfly needle so that I wouldn’t get sore from changing the vials. It worked! I usually don’t have any problems with blood draws and I’m not squeamish about it, but I still appreciate the tech’s care.
- After that, I went to lunch with a friend, then we browsed a nearby store for a while.ย It was nice to see her. We talk a lot about grandkids now which is kind of surreal.
- Thursday, I had my mammogram done. It was pretty easy, and I should have results in a couple weeks…yeah, it’s stupid slow these days. This is the last of my latest round of tests and labs. Man I’m glad to have it all done. And I think this should slow down next year, but that could be wishful thinking on my part. I’m also annoyed/frustrated/aggravated that I don’t have my results yet from my sinus CT scan that I did a week ago Wednesday. I know, I know…everything is backed up and I’m not special
No one has ever said that patience is one of my virtues!
- Thursday night we’re taking Youngest and his wife to dinner for her birthday. I’m writing this beforehand, but I’m really looking forward to that. This weekend is a we’ll see what happens kind of thing. Wizard plans to race Sunday and I’ll do all I can to make that happen for him. As of right now, we don’t have any special plans for Labor Day and we’re fine with that.
That’s my five, now I’d love to hear yours. I hope everyone has a great weekend and a Happy Labor Day!

Sorry your week was busy. Ugh, 13 vials. Good thing they did it the easier way. Yay for getting that over with, though, and for being done with your mammogram. I hope all your tests turn out fine. Yay for time with your friend. I can’t imagine having grandkids, although I know I’m certainly old enough. Yay for your dinner with BLB and his wife. I hope it was lovely. Have an awesome weekend! :hugs:
1) Nothing going on here for Labor Day weekend. This marks the end of summer, so I’m always waiting for it to be over so our neighborhood shrinks back to its usual population.
2) Finn is sleeping along the back of my chair right now and he keeps hitting me in the head with his tail. Ut oh, he woke up and now he’s feisty. LOL
3) We watched an old movie called The Raven yesterday. It’s VERY loosely based on Poe and stars Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, and Bela Legosi. It’s super campy and fun.
4) We finally got rain!
5) My deck garden is looking pathetic, but it’s the end of the season. And a stupid squirrel’s been out there digging in my pots. Bury your nuts elsewhere, you fool.

Hope the events were good or at least came to a satisfactory conclusion. What an awesome “vampire!” And that’s a lot of blood. LOL Yay for friend time. Fingers crossed for good results on all the tests. Happy Birthday to Youngest DiL! Bet dinner was fun. Hope you have the weekend you want! My five.
1. Sunday night, the boys had a run-in with a skunk. Luckily, we had a bottle of skunk-b-gone stuff. Poor LG had to deal with it all. Apparently, I was dead to the world until Toby jumped on the bed to get sympathy and he scared Pete who hissed. The stuff worked. ๐ฆจv ๐ถ๐ถ
2. Toby’s latest game is to run away with whatever toy. I’ve lost count of everything he’s chewed up and we have all these toys he CAN chew on but he loses interest the minute we stop tossing, tugging, whatevering with it. Now, if we toss the toy, he snatches it out of the air, drops it, pounces, scoops it up in his mouth and heads straight out the back door. One minute later, he is back at the door, barking to come in. ๐คฆ๐ผโโ๏ธ
3. I’ve managed to write a little bit in between bouts of searching out Toby to see what he is chewing that he should chew and/or to see who/what he is barking at. I suspece the shadow people who haunt the house are at their wits end. We sure are. Good thing he’s so cute and sweet!
Toby, not the the shadow people.
4. Due to circumstances and on account of because, I didn’t make it to Wallyworld until this morning. I’m done peopling.
5. Pete and Toby have entered the Cold War. They carefully skirt each other with much side-eye. Jake is Switzerland in this deal. And Loki is the “black hat” from Spy vs. Spy. It’s interesting to watch.

Oops. I forget my summary/weekend plans. I haven’t had coffee yet. We have no Labor Day plans but are doing the family thing to celebrate our anniversary, and LG’s and Uncle FixIt’s b-days Saturday evening. Because we can’t leave Toby home alone, we had to find a place with patio seating. Luckily the weather is still unseasonably cool so yay! We found a place but they don’t take reservations. LG called anyway to warn them of the situation–7 people, 1 in a wheelchair, a large service dog and a second large, rambunction service dog in training. Yes, Toby has his vest and yes, we are working to train him. It just takes time. Saturday evening will be interesting
Okay. Now I’m done the coffee is ready. Have a great holiday weekend, all!

1. You’ll share if and when you can. We have all been there ๐.
2. 13 vials, OMG! You’re a trooper and you had a great Phlebotomist.
3. Good time with a friend is always a great time. Talking grandkids, even better.
4. That’s a crazy long time to wait for your test results as well as the mammogram ๐.
5. Happy BD to DIL! I’m sure you will have a nice weekend even f Labor Day is low key.
1a. I had my mammogram Monday and UH had the results on mychart that evening. It took 48 hrs for the doc to post her summary. All looks ok.
2a. Buying the house is stressful but coming along. It should transfer on the 12th.
3a. My foot is still an issue. Chris ordered me a boot. I’ve used it when I can, not all that often.
4a. Git my hair done today.
5a. Harrison and family are up this weekend and are coming over Sunday. C is taking them all kayaking and then we will go out for Mexican for dinner.
Have a nice Labor Day weekend!
