Weekend Roundup

My weekend was fine.

Friday, Biker Witch wasn’t up to going out, so we rescheduled for this week. I went to the Home Store, because it’s time to start adding the small touches to our house. Well except for wall art because Wizard really really wants to paint. Anyhow, in the space of ninety minutes I’d filled my cart with artificial plants and decor…but only ended up buying two small items. I’m cheap and a danger to myself :-) I’ll also needed to think about the spaces and measure a bit. Now I think I might go back this week and pick up a few of the items I’d put back.

Saturday it rained as predicted. The hills are getting really green and probably the poppies will bloom soon. I doubt we’ll have the same hysteria we had a few years ago. Pretty sure people have moved on to whatever the trend of the moment is.

Sunday, we had a few rain showers mixed with moments of stunning beauty when the sun broke through. Maggie and I walked a couple miles, then we (and Wizard) took the pressure washer back to middle son’s house. It’s always fun to see him and hang out with his dogs (my daughter in law was running errands). Maggie was thrilled to see middle son and made sure he pet her before doing anything silly like hugging his mom. I noticed it’s a little harder for Maggie to jump from the ground into the seat of the SUV. This has been happening for a couple months, and she’s had two misses. I kept letting her try it, and fortunately, this time she stopped and thought about it. She figured out to hop up to the floor board first then onto the seat. While I really don’t want her to get hurt, I believe it’s best for her to learn her limitations and how to work around them as she ages. The other option would be me constantly hovering over her rather than her making good choices herself. But dang, it’s hard to stand there and let her fail to figure it out.

I’m still reading Larissa Ione’s latest book. I love her books, so it’s just me. My reading moods fluctuate daily, LOL.

That was my weekend, how was yours?

That stinks not having your coffee with Biker Witch last Friday but it’s great that you were able to reschedule for this week.

You and I shop in a similar way. I pick things up and cart them around the store too and then put them away because “I really don’t need this or that.”

With all the rain you have been getting I’m guessing that Maggie is very good at having her feet wiped off. C’s dogs hate it. It’s great that you were still able to get walks in ☺️.

Maggie seems just like any other kid – see me FIRST! She’s a sweetheart and Loves her guys❤️. Mom, you just have to share.

Oh no, that’s is one of the saddest times in our fur babies lives, when they can’t jump up. If she gets to where she really struggles, get a little ramp. I bet BLB could make one for Maggie and it will keep you from getting hurt lifting her up into the SUV.

My weekend was there and gone. The one nice part, hubs and C did go kayaking for a short time. C said hubs did okay.

Today is incredible. It’s blue skies and 73F. We don’t get days like this very often in March. While I was cleaning I opened a slider and moved a chair in front of it so Spunk could sleep on it and soak up the sun. He was one very happy cat 😻.

I still haven’t opened Larissa’s book so you’re doing better than me. I’m going to have to try and get to it in a week or so.

I hope your day is going well. Take care.

Viki, so you shop that way too? I drive my sister nuts, LOL. But it’s part of my decision making process, I guess. I don’t mind spending money, but I hate wasting it.

Maggie doesn’t like having her paws wiped either. She endures it but gives me lots of sad eyes in the process.

That’s a good idea to have BLB build a ramp for Maggie. Right now, she’s doing fine and learning to adapt — I want her to think before she leaps the retaining walls in our backyard too. But she just jumped up a four foot retaining wall today, making me roll my eyes. The SUV is harder to navigate since she has to land in the seat, making it more of an awkward jump. I think it depends on how she’s feeling day by day.

I’m glad that hubs did okay kayaking with C. My limited experience with this kind of thing is interaction with people along with some physical challenges like getting in a kayak and balancing once in it, helps slow the progression a bit. That’s totally unscientific, LOL. But I saw a swift change in our person with a similar condition when isolated during Covid. I was incredibly frustrated to see that.

I hope you got some quality time off from caretaking too. You also deserve some fun. It’s not an easy road for you right now.

Nice weather! We’re having a cool, crisp day with fluffy clouds and lots of sunshine.

    Enjoy your evening!
