Weekend Roundup

While I was doing some early prep for dinner on Saturday afternoon, Wizard got a news alert on his phone. And that’s how we  learned of an attempted assassination of a presidential candidate. And just like that, my weekend filled with anger, disbelief and a bottomless sadness. I just cannot understand what drives a 20 year old kid to murder people. I just can’t.

As I write this, the latest I know (and I was gone most of the day yesterday taking a break from reality before I wrote this blog) is Former President Trump was injured, one man died and two more were critically wounded. And a LOT of people who love those victims have been terrorized and traumatized. I hope to God I am never in a crowd and forced to witness such a terrible thing like that. Ever.

I am sad at what we’ve become. It would not matter to me which of the two candidates was targeted, my feelings would remain the same. This is not how we solve problems. People who do something this heinous are the problem.

Now deep breath and let’s move on: The rest of my weekend was good. The highlight was having lunch with my friend, then we walked around an outlet center and ended  our day out with some sorbet. Friends are truly one of life’s blessings.

So that was my weekend, how was yours?

We had a small celebration of our 60th anniversary. Our kids all live out of town and they all came in, spent the day, cooked dinner and we generally had a good time. It’s 1st time the kids have been all together in a long time. Really a great day!!

Diana, happy anniversary! 60 is all kinds of awesome, as is having the family all together to celebrate.

And yes, Jen, the world is getting scary. I’m glad the leaders of both sides are calling for calm and unity, but there are a lot on the other side who are sad the bullet missed. What is wrong with people?!?! (That’s a rhetorical question.) Anyway, the man survived and we’ll see how that whole unity and civility goes forward from here.

My weekend was mostly productive. I ironed out the crinkle in the timeline so the plot is back on track. I hate when I realize that *this* has to happen before *that* happens. Luckily, I discovered it while still fixable–if frustrating to do so–and now I’m back on track with the book. I’m just hoping the story will still flow and make sense. My beta readers will let me know when the time comes. LOL

Not much else going on. It’s hot. So what else is new, right? LOLOL Have a better week, all!

Silver, I’m limiting my exposure to social media and such. I have read some some revolting comments and don’t need to see more. I just need to keep my rational brain working harder than my emotions :-) But it was a horrible moment in our history.

Yay for your productive weekend! I know you’re frustrated that you hit a snag, but you also conquered it and likely made the book better in the process!

Yeah the heat is exhausting. Hope you stay in the A/C with lots of words and maybe a quick trip to Starbucks!

I’ll raise my coffee cup to a better week!

Happy Anniversary Diana! That must have been a fun celebration.

I am so sick of all the nasty horrible garbage going on in our country too. Whatever happened to having your own thoughts and opinions w/o triggering someone? People just don’t know how to be civil and respect others anymore.

Saturday am C came over and painted my bathroom. He did a really great job too. He went home to shower and change. He and his C came over and we had a nice dinner.

Sunday was just another day except for a video we got. Harrison was shaking his butt at the phone while wrapped in a towel. His dad asked him what he was doing and he said drying off by dancing. His dad said he was going to send the video to all the grandparents. SOOOOOOOOOOO – he pulled the towel off and mooned us. I don’t think my kids would have done that because they would know that their backsides would be a bit red afterwards. Case in point of no respect.

Oh well, it’s super hot and humid again. It should break Thursday. I’m looking forward to it.

Still haven’t gotten anywhere with the MRI. I hope you’re having better luck getting your appointments set up.

    Have a great afternoon!

:hugs: And I’m glad the rest of your weekend was good. Yay for lunch with a friend. Friends are important, and I’m grateful for friend like you, and the other witches, too.

The weekend here was good. Not much of anything went on. I’m back doing genealogy again, so there was that. And writing again. I’m also reading again. And cleaning. Ugh, so much to clean.

Viki, I miss the days of being able to exchange ides and search for ways to achieve a fair compromise in order to live together. Civility is definitely not prized and rewarded as it once was (in my opinion). The only good thing for me is I’m too preoccupied with solving some stuff in my life to expend as much energy on this as I normally would. It’s been kind of a buffer in a twisted way :-)

That’s great news the bathroom is painted! C sure worked hard. He’s a great son! It’s lovely that you made both of them a nice dinner after that. I really hope you are super happy with the bathroom now that it’s repaired and freshly painted!

I see a lot more of that too. It’s just a different world, I guess.

Hope the break from the heat and humidity comes soon and stays around for a while.

Oh no, you’re in the same quagmire as I am trying to get the referrals/appointments? I’m so sorry. I hope both ours gets resolved ASAP.

Here’s hoping we all have a good rest of the week!

B.E., thanks and I’m grateful for you and all the witches too.

LOL on the cleaning! I’m behind over here too. But yay for doing the things you love like genealogy, writing and reading! Plus some cooking and baking. All those, plus the kitties, are way more fun than cleaning!

Hope your week is going well.
