Friday Five

TGIF!!! Let’s get to sharing five random things about our week. Here’s mine:

  1. I lost a day this week for sure. Aside from the holiday, we were traveling so I guess it’s understandable.
  2. I did my last of the latest tests on Wednesday and I felt great about it! It’s just bloodwork, and easy to do, but it still feels good to have that battery of tests over. But of course, something will be weird in one of them because, well, it’s me, LOL!
  3. Maggie likes to bring a new trick home with her from boarding — spitting out her pill from the pill pocket. Normally she takes these for me with no problem. I have no idea why she does this after boarding. But when she does that I then grind it up and put it in her food. She’s hating that. We’ll see who wins this battle of wills! Spoiler alert: I will win. Otherwise, Maggie came home her normal happy self. They take good care of her there.
  4. Yesterday was awesome — we went to see our granddaughter! She was so happy, smiling and playing with us! She tries to talk now it’s so cute. She’s 9 1/2 weeks old now. Her pediatrician said she’s thriving and very strong. I’m a preening Grandma! It’s nice that I got to spend time with Turbo over the weekend and her yesterday, even if I had to share her with Grandpa Wizard :-)
  5. This weekend I need to start some deeper cleaning stuff. It’s not fun but, surprisingly, no one else has volunteered to do it. I guess that leaves me! Probably because I’m the only one who is going to care whether or not the kitchen cupboards are cleaned or the blinds dusted, LOL. And I barely care…so we’ll see if having company for Thanksgiving motivates me!

That’s my five, and I’d love to hear yours! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Yay for Friday Five! Don’t we all lose time when traveling? Yay for a good trip and a safe homecoming. 🤞🏼 *fingers crossed* for good blood work and yay for this round of test being over. Can Maggie have cheese? Wrap her pills in a slice of cheese when it isn’t pill time. Then give her an empty pill pocket at pill time. Do that a couple of times then give her empty cheese and full pocket. She’ll be sooo confused. Wonderful news about Baby Girl! So sweet and smart. Yay for good family time. 9 1/2 weeks?!?! *squeak* Where has the time gone? And isn’t there a movie by that name? Good luck with the cleaning. Luckily, LG cares more than I do so he does it. 8) Here’s my 5:

    1. The Christmas novella I released last December, MIDNIGHT CLEAR, comes off Kindle Unlimited–FINALLY–on December 8th. I got it revamped for wide distribution and uploaded to D2D to go live everywhere on December 9th.

    2. In more writing news, I’m finally getting around to MOONSTRUCK: RETRIBUTION which is the final compilation book for the original Moonstruck series. It includes the last three books, a couple of Christmas short stories and additional all-new content. I’ve got the written material set up in Scrivener and now begins the re-reading to fix a few things, add scenes, etc. I hope to have it out by the first of the new year. 🤞🏼

    3. Apropos if nothing, I am still totally in love with my Hamilton Beach Flex-Brew coffee maker. I mean, I loved the Bunn we had but it pretty much meant making a full pot of coffee and then storing any left overs on “short” days like when I go to Wallyworld and get a frappucino on the way the home and might not want coffee until later and then only one cup. On mornings when I get deeply involved on the computer, I forget to drink so coffee in the pot gets cold. Other mornings, I can make a short pot and guzzle. (And yes, I’m reaching for 5 things. )

    4. A raccoon stole one of my cat bowls early this morning. I will have to go shake the bushes to see if I can find it.

    5. Speaking of “thieves”…Pete followed me around complaining loudly. When I’d ask what was wrong, he’d dash under the kitchen table where his food bowls are then he would “zoom” toward Jake’s room, ie. the guest bedroom. Side note: Jake now eats in “his” room because he would pick up his gushy food bowl and carry it in there where he could lay on the carpet and eat at his leisure. Back to story… When I didn’t immediately follow Pete, he zoomed back, yelled, dashed under the table and took off for the other room. I finally followed him. And found HIS gushy food bowl in Jake’s room, not only empty but licked clean. I told Pete, “You snooze, you lose.” He was NOT impressed. Side note: Pete loves his gushy food but he nibbles on it during the day in between trips outside. Yeah, there IS no sibling rivalry in this house.

Stormy has soccer tonight. We aren’t sure if we’ll make it. LG is a bit under the weather. Sunday, Only is coming over and we’re going to make her a ribbon skirt (traditional garb for the Muskogee tribe) for Native American Day at her middle school. She did an awesome hallway display with the seals/flags of all the federal and state recognized tribes in Oklahoma. The native students are thrilled there’s a native teacher on staff now. She’s bought all the materials and will thread the sewing machine for me and then I’ll sew it. She can’t sew a straight line to safe her life. Bless her heart. Her creative talents–and she has MANY–lie in other areas. Have a great weekend all! 🥰

Silver, I’ve been trying the empty pill pocket, then the pill one — she took it last night and spit the pill out this morning, LOL. I’ll start varying it up more. I may coat the pill in peanut butter too. She’s just being Maggie :-)

There is a movie by the name 9 1/2 weeks! And yeah, time has gone fast. But we’ve really enjoyed these early days with her knowing how fast they go.

    1) That’s good timing as the novella is in time for Christmas this year. Send it out into the big wide world!
    2) Wow you’re ambitious and I love the big compilation with extra material. I have your book set aside to read — but I got very distracted by a real life thing that I think we’re on the way to resolved (fingers crossed). Your book will be my reward!
    3) Coffee is always an important thing, so you’re not stretching in my world :-) And it’s vital to have coffeemakers we love!
    4) You do realize this stuff like a racoon thief only happens to you, right? LOLOL!!!!
    5) Wait now, did Pete accuse my boy Jake of stealing his food? I think Jake is going to need fair representation on this matter. How do we know Pete didn’t put his bowl in there to eat next to Jake, then got distracted and Jake assumed it was seconds? Or maybe that racoon did it to frame Jake? Okay I’m just amusing myself :-) I can understand Pete’s indignation at having his food stolen!

First I’m sorry LG is under the weather and wish him a quick and full recovery. I looked up the traditional skirt for the Muskogee tribe (of Oklahoma) and loved it. Hope you take pics. I love that Only gets to share her native culture and history! I smirked at your “Bless her Heart” If only I was southern enough to pull that off so graciously :-) Glad one of you got the sewing talent gene, and the other is smart enough to know it’s not her gift. Have a great weekend and good luck to Stormy on his soccer game!

FYI, I have video of the dang raccoon. And I STILL haven’t found the bowl! LOLOL
