Weekend Roundup

I hope everyone had a good weekend. Mine was fine. It rained, but I usually manage stay busy so that’s rarely a problem. I returned the knife set. Yeah I know everyone told me to keep it, but Wizard looked at them, and immediately told me to return them. Both of us disliked the grip and thought the handles are flimsy. It’s not a big deal, I have my set while I keep searching. I have a chef knife set in mind that’s a little pricy but not too bad.

While I was out to return the knives, I bought some basic t-shirts too, then came home and cleaned out a bunch of clothes. I have more to do, but isn’t there always more? I’m trying to stop buying clothes unless I really think I’ll wear them. I have zero fashion sense, but I’m super picky about the way things fit.

Otherwise I made enchiladas and baked some cookies that Youngest and I can eat (we can’t eat the ones in my freezer). I planned to see youngest but he finally got the virus going around the rest of our family (so far, Wizard and I have been spared).

I’ve been reading THE PASSING OF THE NIGHT: My Seven years As A Prisoner of the North Vietnamese by General Robinson Risner. I really like the book, although I have some feelings about the editing. It’s a publisher I don’t recognize, and when I looked up, it appeared to be a vanity publisher. I feel this book (and story) deserved better, but that’s just my opinion. In any case, I’m nearly finished with the book, so I kept reading despite the things that bugged me.

I just finished listening to THE LIES I TELL by Julie Clark, which is a suspense about a woman who gets involved with a female con artist with the intension to expose her — but things don’t go the way she expects. I liked the book and enjoyed trying to figure out who was the bad guy. I don’t think it was a thriller as billed, but more of a mystery suspense.

I have no idea what I’m going to read next :-) I’m really skipping around in my choices a lot, LOL

This week, I’m going to start packing up and prepping to have the floors installed next week. Wizard has a bunch of stuff he’s taking care of, so I’m going to get what I can do and take the pressure off him.

How was your weekend?

I’m glad you check on the feel of the knives to find the handles were not up to par. Whatever you end up buying, I’m sure you’ll love. I have had my Wustoff set for 30+ years and it’s in fantastic shape. I have my chef knife sharpened professionally once a year otherwise I use my Chefologist (https://www.walmart.com/ip/Chefologist-3-Stage-Knife-Sharpener-with-Scissor-Sharpener/118643831) sharpener once a month.

T-shirts are always a good buy. They need to be replaced more than any other item I have ☺️. We’re on the same track again in weeding out our clothes.

Sorry BLB got the bug. It’s good that you and Wizard have avoided it.

One good read and one not so good isn’t too bad. I can’t seem to stay awake to read. I keep trying but by the time I finish my prayers at night I doze off.

Planning for the floor install is so smart. Good luck.

It’s been rather nasty here for driving but I’ve still been running errands. I plan to stay home tomorrow until we have to go to hubs weekly Dr. appointment.

I baked brownies yesterday and they made the house smell so yummy.

Tonight I’m re-heating lasagna I made that was in the freezer.

The cough is still with me. It’s been weeks and I can’t wait for it to go away.

I hope you have a really good day and stay out of the rain.

Viki, Wustoff is an excellent brand! And it’s great to have a knife sharpener at home. I do have one similar, but I need to find a place within a reasonable to sharpen my knives. I’m sure I can find one if I didn’t keep getting distracted by a thousand little things every day, LOL.

You’re weeding out clothes too? Good to know I’m not alone :-) I’m so picky about the fit and feel, and I just can’t override it. I’m really tired of not wearing clothes i pay for.

I understand the problems reading. lately I just don’t watch TV at night, plus I can read for about 30 minutes when I get up and have coffee in the morning. I get up early to have alone time, or I’m crabby.

Sorry you have to run errands in nasty conditions. I was out in the rain on Saturday, but it wasn’t bad so I didn’t mind. Hope Hub’s doctor appointment goes well.

Brownies, yum!! I have had then in awhile and been off and on craving them. But I need more people around to eat them :-)

    Enjoy the leftover lasagna!

Ugh on the cough. I hear that so much with the virus going around here. My daughters in law coughed for weeks. I hope yours goes away soon! It’s awful to have that nagging cough.

    Have a great week!
