Friday Five

TGIF!! And that means it’s time to share five random things about our week:

  1. We are getting floors a week from Monday. I’m excited and hope we chose the right flooring. I’m not as excited about packing up some things to get them out of the way, but it will be worth it once it’s done.
  2. And still on the floors — our current linoleum has some staining. The company that put it in tried to blame us for it, claiming it’s from the cleaners I use. We let it go because we always planned to redo the floors. But I quietly seethed about it because I knew they were flat out lying. I don’t like being accused of causing someone else’s mistakes. But all the flooring people we had out said the same thing — the linoleum was installed without a moisture barrier causing the staining. It made me feel better to be validated :-) I knew what it was because I’ve had it happen in my last house I bought new, and they immediately replaced the flooring. And it’s happened to others I know. Anyway, I’ll stop about that now, LOL
  3. I drove the Mustang this week for the first time since we got it (inherited it from Wizard’s brother)! It’s a powerful car with a sports clutch and I haven’t driven a stick shift in probably 35 years. But I did fine, and I’m so happy about that. I need to practice just to get used to the car, but I feel confident I can handle the car now.
  4. I got my new knives, but I put them back in the box. I’m just so undecided, which is stupid. I was very decisive on the floors, and the trip to Hawaii, and those are big purchases. On this, I think I’m agonizing just to give me something to do :-). I mean they’re knives, and they weren’t expensive, so I need to quit dithering. I also need to quit imagining I’m a chef, when I’m just another woman cooking pretty simple dinners most nights, LOL.
  5. No big plans this weekend. Oldest said he’ll go to sister in laws to help her and that I should take a weekend off. I thought that was sweet. He’s trying to help now because once he’s in tax season, it’s all but impossible for him to carve out a chunk of time. So that frees me up to go bug youngest this weekend! I might even make him cookies, we’ll see.  My beloved stand mixer as been on a serious time out since my Christmas Baking Marathon (I still have some of those cookies in the freezer).

That’s my five, now I’d love to hear yours!  I hope everyone has a warm, safe and happy weekend!

Howdy. I’m back. Sort of. LOL Yay for new floors, boo on bad ones. Yay for drives, family, cookies. Keep the knives and use them. My 5 which are a mix of the time I’ve been off because mostly I sleep or watch mindless TV. LOL

    1. In case you haven’t seen FB, no cancer but there was a 10 lb. alien “baby.”

    2. Recovery is going as good as possible. Stitches and staples come out a week from today.

    3. I’ve lost 30 lbs. This is not the way I wanted to need a new wardrobe.

    4. General anesthesia messes up the taste buds. As a result, I have not had coffee since this whole episode started. I guess I can admit that there is life with no coffee. ;)

    5. I want to sit up and stay up so I can use my desktop. I swear m======y laptop has epilepsi. It does totally random things.

All in all, life is good and I’m blessed. Missed y’all! <3

    1. Post a photo of the new floor when it’s done :).
    2. You’re right to be ticked off about the old floor. How dare they blame you.
    3. Mustang FUN!
    4. Like Silver says, keep the knives. At least test them first before you send them back. Just check the weight and how they feel in your hand. Balance is so big with me and a knife.
    5. That’s wonderful oldest is going to do what he can before tax season kicks in. You all have been a great help to your SIL. Cookies – YUM!

1a. First – I’m so happy that Silver is on the mend and there was no cancer ❤️.
2a. Got my hair done today. So nice to have the white stripe covered up.
3a. Had to take hubs to the bank to renew on of his CD’s today. I wish he’s just give me POA but he’s trying to stay in control but he can’t do any of it himself. It would have been so much easier if I could do it for him myself.
4a. Because I got my hair done just now, dinner is a DiGiorno pizza. I have to go turn on the oven now.
5a. It’s snowing but not nearly as bad as they had said. Instead of 1-12 inches I think we’ll be getting 6-8. A and Queso are having a blast playing in the snow. That dog loves to jump in it but he really tires himself out.

I sure hope you have a great weekend!

Silver!!! Dang girl, you scared me growing that alien baby!!! Thank God, it was benign and they were able to safely remove it — those surgeries can be very tricky. You have made me so freaking happy today, I was really worried. Huge hugs to you! Okay now for your 5:

    1) I’m still amazed that you kept functioning with that growing inside you as long as you did!

    2) If you’re like me, I’m sure you want to be fully recovered by now, but that’s just not how it works (sadly!). Hang in there! You’ve been through so much, an it’s just going to take time and patience. Oh! And did I mention i think you’re tough and amazing??? Also I hope LG is going okay, this has been a lot for him too.

    3) Nope, that’s never the way smart people want to lose weight. A few pounds will return when you’re able to eat more food again.

    4) Anesthesia can have all kinds of side effects. Sorry you’re having to deal with no taste — I would hate that. And no coffee???? Man that’s just disturbing :-) Seriously though, all this should resolve soon. And then you can decide if you want to have a serious relationship with coffee again.

    5) I bet it’s frustrating not being able to maintain a sitting position. But that was a huge surgery, so it’s going to suck for a while. And huge sympathies on your laptop! Mine is a lazy jerk that barely loads and then refuses to work. But thank you so much for posting this today despite your epileptic laptop’s efforts to sabotage you!

Have a restful weekend and please tell LG thank you from me for taking care of you.

Viki, I will take photos of the new floors. You and Silver are probably right about the knives. Im sure I’m making it too big a deal. Now for your five:’

    1) Me too!!!

    2) It’s always a great feeling to get rid of those strips :-) Hope you love your hair!

    3) I agree it would be easier. Unfortunately, most people in his situation have a harder time reasoning that out. It has to be frustrating for you to have simple tasks turn into complicate time sucks.

    4) Pizza for dinner is always a win. Wizard wishes we had pizza more often :-)

    5) Glad it’s not as much snow as predicted. I smiled at the thought of Queso playing in the snow! So cute. Hope you have pictures! I can see why Queso gets so tired, and that’s not a bad thing.

    Enjoy your weekend!
