Weekend Roundup

Eh, it was a weekend. I spent time prepping food for having Youngest and his wife over, but they weren’t able to come over (through no fault of their own). Since I had so much food, I dropped some enchiladas, Spanish rice and cake for them. Life happens and we’ll reschedule.

I made the gluten and diary free cinnamon cake — I think it needs a bit of work. I have some ideas :-)

Otherwise, I read “VERITY” by Colleen Hoover. That book was a surprise! It turned out to be a bit of a psychological suspense with a dark twist, and I inhaled that book. I don’t read many of Colleen’s books (though I know who she is and I’m happy for her amazing success!) but this was NOT what I was expecting. So that was fun and slightly disturbing, LOL.

We have more rain on the way, although I’m not sure when it’ll start as I write this late Sunday afternoon. The clouds have moved in, and the air is getting heavier so sometime in the next 12 hours maybe? We’ll see.

So my weekend was uninspiring weekend, how was yours?

I’m sorry that your weekend didn’t go as planned. Missing out on BLB and DIL stinks but like you said, things happen.

I’m sure you will figure out how to make the cake better. Just the thought of it makes me hungry. I love cinnamon.

That’s great how the book got you. I really like when that happens in my reads because I am way too good at predicting what’s going to happen. My grandmother was the same way. Glad you enjoyed it.

I pray that you and all in CA stay safe. The rain has been crazy and causing so much misery.

My weekend was nothing to write about. Saturday night was awful with hubs.

Sunday the door handle on the door entering the house from the garage froze. Good thing I have a key to the front door and was able to get into the house. C came over later and worked on it. Hopefully all is well now because if hubs gets trapped outside it will be a very bad thing.

It’s been very chilly but sunny today. We’re on the rollercoaster of weather right now. A few days nice and warming up and then right back into the teens and twenties. But it’s winter in Ohio 😊.

I hope your day has gone well.

Viki, I’m with you on predicting the ending of a book. This one was disturbing though, there’s a lot in there people might find upsetting. It’s fun to be surprised (in good ways), and it makes me miss writing :-)

I hope all are safe here in CA too. It’s always hard to judge how bad things are since the media tends to hype things up (understatement, LOL!). So far, the heavier parts of the storm haven’t hit here, just light, steady rain.

I’m sorry about Saturday night with hubs. It can’t be easy for either of you. I hope this week is better.

Yikes, glad you weren’t trapped outside, or hubs didn’t get trapped. I hate that slight panicked feeling with something like that happens. I just want everything to work as it should!

I guess the rollercoaster weather at least helps us appreciate the nice days :-)

My day’s been quiet and fine, and I hope yours is too!

Lately, I’m a day late and dollar short. Yesterday was a bad day, one in a series. Feeling better today. Luckily, I see the doc this Friday and hopefully he’ll have some answers or solutions for my “distress.” I hit a weight that I haven’t seen since my 20s. I won’t get into details because…gross. Anyway…

I mostly dozed, watched softball, dozed, listened to an audio book, read a little on the Kindle, dozed. Talk about uninspiring! LOLOL

Sorry for the change in plans with BLB and DIL. Sweet of you to get food to them anyway. I’m sure they appreciated it! I’m curious about the additions/changes you’ll be making to the cinnamon cake. :D

    Have a great week!

Silver, I’m really sorry you’re having ongoing issues. I truly sympathize. I hope the doctors have some answers for you. It’s miserable to feel like that, and even worse when you don’t know why it’s happening. Also, while it’s nice to drop some weight, this isn’t the way we want to do it! But we might have to start calling you Slim Sliver :-)

It sounds like your body needed the rest and calm. I don’t call that uninspiring, I call that smart :-)

Okay, so everyone else tells me the cinnamon roll cake was fine and I only tasted it once after it was baked and mostly cooled, so maybe it sets better over time. But my concern was the texture; I don’t think it was cooking well enough into the center (not uncommon with gluten free flour). My solution is maybe slight ingredient adjustment (risky!), and baking it in two smaller pans. Or even try it in my mini Bundt pans, but it may stick because of the the brown sugar and butter swirls so…still thinking! But they would be really cute in mini Bundt pans :-) I’m sure that was WAY more than you wanted to know!

I hope you continue to feel better and that doctor has some ways to either get rid of the symptoms or manage them more successfully. Let us know!
