Wednesday Indulgence

It’s been a week of news. Some bad to hear, but will be okay eventually (vague, I know but that’s all I feel like discussing right now). Which let to the the realization that I shouldn’t yet go back to walking dogs at the animal shelter. Then a tumble of things followed like concerns over how much hour homeowners insurance is going up. A rock that flew up and hit the car window, cracking it, and that’s not cheap these days. Just a series of things — I’m sure you all have had those weeks. Nothing tragic, just a series of annoying things.

But then, I also had a gift card to a store in town with a fair chunk of $$ on it. We got it for switching our pharmacy to this store pharmacy. So I went to buy practical things we needed or would need in the near future.

What did I end up buying? Some pears we both really like that we can’t get at our regular store… and a few bottles of wine :-)

I showed Wizard the pears, and he was satisfied.

Then I showed him the wine and his face lit up. This is something we rarely buy anymore, partly due to inflation and partly because both of us just didn’t want it. But I told him that I’m tired of being practical, we weren’t going to buy it in our regular budget, so why not indulge when we had the gift card?

The retired accountant known for being practical and cheap, agreed! I was a hero for my executive decision making!

What have you done for yourself this week?

Oh dear. So sorry for the bad news. Insurance–car AND home–is going up all over. No fun. 🤗 (hugs) for the shelter news. And dudette! Sometimes, indulgence is practical. Just sayin’…

I guess the one indulgent thing I’ve done for me is asking LG to pick up the fixings to make chocolate sodas: vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, and club soda. The last time I was trying to put weight on instead of losing it, I stopped in at Braums every day on my way home from work to get a chocolate soda. I’m not a big milkshake or malt fan but I do love me an old-fashioned chocolate soda. Yummers!

Oh no, I’m sorry for whatever is going on. I’ll be keeping you in my prayers.

Does your car insurance honor Safelite? They repaired my windshield in March after a truck threw up a stone. It was 100% covered.

I hear you on homeowners insurance too. Everything just keeps going up.

It’s good that you got the pears and wine you enjoy. You need these things now and then.

My bathroom shower is dripping. I think C is going to stop by after work and see if he can do anything. If not, I’ll be calling a plumber tomorrow. It never ends.

Hubs is giving me a really hard time about taking the anxiety pills the geriatric specialist prescribed. I have fought with him to take one each day (two so far).

I got another bill from Ohio taxation. I am at my wits ends. I’ve decided to just pay it and be done, even though I don’t owe it.

I hope your day goes well. Take Care.

Silver, yep rates are going up everywhere. We definitely aren’t alone in this. Most everything else is just life happening :-)

You definitely should indulge in chocolate soda if that’s what you enjoy. More calories gives your body more fuel to heal. Plus you soooo deserve it!

    Happy Wednesday!

Viki, no on the car insurance and Wizard is handling it. It’s the electronics in the window that costs so much. It’s just annoying. We need the big trucks hauling products for all of us, but they cause so much damage too. Sometimes it’s just frustrating.

Ugh on the dripping shower head. I sure hope C can fix it! I hate calling out plumbers (although they are sure valuable when you need them).

I’m sorry about the struggle with hubs over his meds. It’s so hard when you’re trying to make him feel better but he doesn’t realize that.

What the heck is going on with the tax board???? Man, I can’t even guess how aggravating and exhausting this is for you. I hope it’s a minimal amount that’s worth paying just to make them stop it.

My day’s been fine so far, and I really hope yours is too!!

Viki, sending big hugs and many good thoughts your way. The struggle is real and you are shouldering so much with hubs. Hang in there. Thankfully, yu have some family to help! Gah on the tax board thing. Dealing with bureaucrats is such a PITA! You don’t need that on top of all your other life stuffs. Thinking of you. 💖
