Weekend Roundup

Mostly good weekend.

Friday I met Biker Witch for lunch. It was so nice to see her!  I was really happy to hang out with my sister.

Saturday, I met Oldest Son at my sister-in-laws to take some of the books in his truck for donation. As it happened, a friend-couple were there moving some furniture for her. Oldest Son jumped in and helped with that too. I was so impressed that oldest and one other man got a couch down a set of curving stairs that look nice but are a pain when moving furniture. I don’t know how they managed it as I was in the other room packing up something else. But it got done and loaded up in a truck along with other pieces of furniture. Oldest was really happy that he was able to help out.  After that, the two of us had lunch together and talked about going to Hawaii just to lighten up for a bit.

Back to my sister-in-law — she’s doing the best she can these days and I’m really proud of her. She doesn’t always see it, but I can see it.

When I got home, Maggie immediately showed me a new toy she’d gotten while I was gone (from youngest daughter-in-law’s mom). I was amazed! Maggie only plays with toys for a minute or two at a time, I’ve never seen Maggie do that with a toy, so she must really like it. Or she smells my daughter-in-law’s mom on it. Maggie loves her. But it was really interesting to see a new behavior. Poor Maggie has been missing me a bit as I’ve been running around doing different things, so I’m glad this present brightened her day.

Sunday was quiet, I had things to do around the house, but got involved in trying to find a knife set I want. All the stores around me seem to no long carry the knife sets so I can see them in person before I buy. I don’t want something oversized on my counter, but I also want all the knives in the bigger sets :-). I’m pretty sure a lot of stores (at least in this area) are limiting knife sales to online only due to safety and theft issues, which I intellectually understand but I’m still annoyed. I can order a set of knives and send them back if the set is too bulky on my counter, but first, I’m going to whine about it, LOLOL.

How was your weekend?

You need one of those magnetic knife holders for the wall. It’s up an off the counter, yet right where you want it. Plus, you can SEE the knife you want.

Biker Witch and you had lunch but did you do any shopping? Target, maybe?

What brand of knives are you looking into? I have a large Wustoff block and use most of them. I’ve never had a need for the cleaver but C had a blast with it.

Maggie is a sweetie. You’re probably right. The scent of daughter-in-law’s mom is most likely the reason Maggie loves the toy. Daughter-in-law’s mom is really nice to make Maggie so happy.

I’m almost out of this illness. The cough has been awful. We had C’s Cs’ dinner Saturday. The place was nice and the food good but the service was terrible and WAY over priced.

A came over and set up the new computer.

Harrison got a bunch of snow in TN and even though it’s only 13F he’s made his mom go play with him.

    I hope you’re having a great day.

Marianne, I was looking at those! They made me uneasy because we have earthquakes and I’m not sure how easily they’d lose the magnetic grip to the block. However, I’m intrigued enough that I may try that someday. Thanks for the suggestion!

Viki, Biker Witch and I just walked around Kohls for a bit. It wasn’t a big shopping day, and she’s been dealing with some annoying back issues.

This morning I ordered some JA Henckels knives. I was super frustrated and ordered them. I was looking for a little better knife set, but I just can’t make myself spend that much money for a set I can’t see. I’ll take a look at this set when they come and see what I think. Plus, it’s hard to find a place close to me to get knives professionally sharpened. I hate to invest then fight with that issue.

I’m glad you’re feeling better except for the cough. When Oldest and I were running around this weekend, we bonded with strangers over that cough, LOL. (Oldest and his family have had it.) I really hope your cough goes away soon.

Sorry about the service and prices, but hope the Birthday C enjoyed it! I’m shocked every single time I go out at the price of eating out. It’s prohibitive for people on a budget.

That’s great news on your new computer being up and running. A was awesome to do that. Hopefully it’s a smooth transition for you.

I can’t blame Harrison!! If I was a little boy, I’d want to go out and play in it too! Hope his mom bundled up!

Hope your week is getting off to a good start!
