Friday Five
TGIF! Another week flew by and Halloween is next week!
- I tried to get organized this week and messaged the family about Thanksgiving and Christmas. We’re making progress on getting that sorted out. T-day is at my house this year. And it’s still hot here — someone needs to inform Mother Nature it’s time to let go of summer weather and embrace fall!
- So…I saved all my change for two years. Finally I rolled it all up, took it to the bank and planned to do something practical with it — like buy clothes or things I needed. What I did…ordered a handbag from the Coach Outlet (I’d never pay full price for those!). This is all one of my daughter in law’s fault — she had a really cute Coach bag and that got me trolling the Coach outlet site, and here we are with me waiting for them to ship that bag to me and hoping I love it. For the record, Wizard encouraged this wanton financial behavior. And I still don’t have any “nice” clothes for events. Do I care? Snort. Maybe a little, but the new handbag is more fun. It’ll fit and it won’t make me look fat. By the way, I didn’t have a plan to save change for something special — I just kept dumping change in a cup in my nightstand to keep my wallet more manageable until I got around to rolling it up. But let’s all pretend I had plan, okay?
- I’m having trouble with my pain in legs. This is so freaking annoying. I will mention it to my doctor someday — when I’m done trying to fix it with the power of my mind
- Next week will be…interesting. Monday I go get a shot. This shot may make me sick, or not. Who knows. But in case it doesn’t make me sick on Monday, we get to test it again on Tuesday morning and do a second shot. Because I’m like a science experiment now Oh wait, I’m a Traveling Science Experiment because this will involve 100’s of miles of driving over 3 days! Then four to five hours later on that same Tuesday afternoon, I go to the Nuclear Vault (okay, some people call it Nuclear Medicine, but whatever) and take a tracer pill so the government can track me. No wait, that was a movie. This pill will spend 24 hours lighting up any rogue cells, so that on Wednesday the
governmentdoctors can find them in a full body iodine scan. And then Thursday I’m free!! After that, it’s just another blood test and a doctor visit in which I shall learn that I’m a boring specimen with no rogue cells, and therefore freed to go live my boring life. Yay! I can’t wait! - And this weekend, we have an engagement party for my niece (for which I have no appropriate clothes as mentioned in #2). That’ll be great to see everyone. My food restrictions for the iodine scan could be a bit awkward, mostly because I don’t want to suck the life out of the room by talking about my health. But most people know what’s been happening, and I really think the focus will be on my niece and her fiancé, so it should be fine. Then Sunday, Wizard is racing, and I may go help with my granddaughter in the afternoon. They aren’t sure yet if they’ll need me and I’m willing to be on call since I’ll otherwise just be doing chores and boring stuff.
That’s it for me. Now I’d love to hear your five! I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Holiday organization? Yikes! You are on top of it. Saving change is a great way to splurge and Coach is a splurge. Enjoy it! LG sympathizes with your leg pain. Hang in there. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼 for good reports and outcomes! Have you considered just checking into a hotel so you don’t have to travel? Yay for parties and family time! My five:
1. I released the cover and blurb for MOONSTRUCK MAFIA: BOSTON on my blog and FB author page today. Yay!
2. I’ll be uploaded the whole thing to D2D and the ‘Zon today. Another yay!
3. I created some marketing graphics using quotes from the book.
4. Yes, my life lately has been consumed with all things book related. I still have some website and Books2Read site things to do. And I’ve been able to listen to audio books while doing some of the less “brainly” stuff like that. BIG relief to have the hard part over!
5. Pete has decided he is a “security cat.” I feed him and Loki in the mornings before I go out on the porch to feed the ferals. Pete has started “patrolling” when I do. He stops eating his gushy food and follows me to the door where he stands watch while I feed the ferals. As for him guarding the garage, I stepped out the other evening and he was “boxing” something through the cat door. There was hissing and batting and much flipflapping of the cat door. He stood watch until he was positive the possible intruder had moved along. Cats.
I was wrong last week–no soccer. No clue if there is soccer this week or not. The World Serious starts tonight. Brats and sauerkraut for dinner. Whoohoo. Soccer if there are games. Relaxing and giving my book brain a short vacation. In other words, no lofty goals this weekend.
Have a great one, all!

1. Wow, you’re ahead of the game. Smart.
2. That’s wonderful. I always buy my good bags via the outlet. Excellent deals. I’m very happy you did this for yourself. Post a photo when it arrives.
3. Ouch. You do need to tell the dr when you see him next.
4. I’ll be keeping you in my prayers that all goes well and the scan is done without any issues.
5. Navigating food will be a drag but the party will be fun. Have a great time.
1a. We’re in the rollercoaster weather. Fifties one day 80 the next. I like it.
2a. This weekend is pillow washing and switching the clothes to the colder weather stuff.
3a. I was going to make steak sandwiches for dinner tonight but at the last minute I’ve decided to do pizza. I think I just want a beer so the food has to match.
4a. A came over yesterday and took hubs out for a couple hours. I had the water people over working on our system.
5a. Yesterday’s mail brought a jury duty order for the federal government. I filled out the form online and stated that hubs has dementia. I should be excused since I can’t leave him. We’ll see.
Have a super weekend!

Silver, it’s definitely a splurge and thanks. Honestly, it’s more the logistics than the tests being the pain. It’ll all be fine (positive thinking is important). I hope they can find something to help LG with his leg pain.
1) I went over and read your blub — can’t wait to read the book! Intriguing cover!
2) Awesome news on getting it uploaded today!! I haven’t checked yet (just got to the computer).
3) You’re really on fire getting all the backmatter, cover and promo ready!!
4) Congrats and yay for some relief!! But of course, now comes more promo for a while. But you’re experienced at this and can handle it!
5) Pete cracks me up. I think it’s so cute he’s protecting you from the ferals. Pete probably wouldn’t appreciate my calling it cute, though And good to know the garage is safe!
Enjoy the first game tonight and weekend — you deserve a vacation! And have fun at soccer, if there is soccer Grandparent life is all about flexibility, LOL!

Viki, thanks on all! I will tell the doctor about the leg pain. I’ve had in on and off and keep forgetting once it’s better. It could just be my RA too. I’ve cut way back on walking to try to help it. And thanks on the party — it’ll will be nice to see everyone!
1) The weather definitely has a mind of her own these days.
2) Well that sounds efficient and seasonal But it has to be done, like all boring things. I’m eyeing the house and thinking deep cleaning time before T-Day. So far, I’m only thinking it, LOL.
3) Pizza and beer sound perfect! We’re doing hamburgers and maybe a bit of wine. We’ll see.
4) Good job, A!! I bet it really helps when they can get hubs out. And you got the water system taken care of.
5) They **should** accept your excuse, it’s a solid reason why you can’t do it. It’s always something, isn’t it? I know we need jurors, but I don’t love going there. They treat jurors like criminals sometimes and it annoys me.
I hope you have a good weekend!
