So my weekend consisted of:
-Working.
-Finally vacuuming out my closet and looking at all the shoes I can’t wear but wish I could. This week my doctor proclaimed my bad ankle “warm and boggy.” Ugh. If you need that translated, it means a little swollen and ugly. Yay me. Which is why I’m stuck in boring shoes for now. Part of this may be from hurting it a few weeks ago. Time will tell.
-Trying a new place for breakfast Sunday morning. It was great, although Wizard picked a better breakfast than I did. So next time I’m ordering that!
-Me bugging Wizard for a dog.
-Wizard bugging me for a Mustang (the car, not the horse–I’d totally say yes to the horse!).
-And…I finished the draft for CAGED MAGIC! A little over 100,000 pages words at this point. (Edited to correct typo: I meant words but typed pages. Thanks Viki and B.E. for catching that.)
I danced and drank wine late Saturday when I finished that! I have a lot of clean up work to do before I send to it the editor, hopefully this week, but I actually completed the book! It seems like it took forever, but the way this REALLY worked was that for two years, every time I tried to work on it, something came up and forced me to set the book aside. I probably wrote 300 pages of the book in the last two months and that’s pretty good for me
Now whether its any good or not, I don’t know. We’ll see what the editor says once she gets it. I can’t think about that yet, I just want to fix a couple things and get it as clean as I can very quickly and send it off. Then I need to switch to line edits on EXPOSING THE HEIRESS (working title that will change) the next Once A Marine book.
Plus I have other stuff going on, but nothing fun to talk about yet.
So that was my weekend, how was yours?

Did you all have a good week? Mine’s been good but gone by way too fast. I’m plotting out the rest of CAGED MAGIC and practicing my new resolution to relax and not get so uptight and worried. I’m basically learning a new process of handling stress–we’ll see how it goes
Wednesday, Wizard willingly went to the animal shelter with me, then we both came home depressed. It was so sad to see so many dogs that need homes and care. But we have to make a real decision about commitment and our lifestyle, and we’re still figuring out how much we may or may not travel now that Wizard’s retired. I did learn one thing, it’s probably best to go with a smaller dog. Wizard is not as initially comfortable with bigger dogs as I am. That’s something I’d forgotten since he’s so comfortable about Bailey, Cookie and Corky. And if we get a dog, he or she will be for both of us, becoming a part of our family.
And for my happy news, the second and final book of The Plus One Chronicles released in Germany yesterday and did very well–breaking into the Amazon bestseller ranks by the end of the day (by the time this blog posts, that could change).

I’m so happy Kat and Sloane have gone international! I’d never have predicted that happening. The first day I released the first book, THE PROPOSITION, youngest son (BLB) came over and asked me, “How’s the book doing?”
I remember exactly. “Well I just posted it on my Facebook page a couple hours ago and 60 copies have sold on Amazon. I’m thrilled.” We both thought it was really good, but none of us could have predicated the way it took off. And I wasn’t even thinking of international sales then. Actually I didn’t seriously think about it until foreign publishers began contacting me.
I’m hoping that I cab do something similar with the SAVAGED ILLUSION Series, but there’s no way to really predict what will capture readers, all I can do it try. But it is a story I’m excited about so we shall see. First I have to finish CAGED MAGIC and whatever the publisher will need for EXPOSING THE HEIRESS. One step at a time.
As for the weekend, I think we’re going to see the movie American Sniper and I’ll be working. What are your plans? Whatever they are, I hope you have a great weekend!

So cool, the German edition of THE PROPOSITION released yesterday (Dec. 4th) on Amazon! They are releasing the trilogy in two books instead of three, the first now and the second one in January 15th 2015. Here’s the link to the book on Amazon.de
So in other news, I’m two thirds of the way through the revisions on EXPOSING THE HEIRESS and holding my breath that this works. This essentially had a been a “square peg into a round hole” revision to make it fit the new line. I hope I’m doing it, but I’m too deep in the middle of it to really know. So this weekend, more work. I’m hoping to get it done next week so I can tackle Christmas and get back to CAGED MAGIC.
And I’ve fallen in love with audio books! To relieve stress, right now I’m walking…and I’m doing a good two miles while listening to audio books. I swear it’s saving my sanity. I was MAD this week because it rained and I couldn’t go. Which is super petty of me since we desperately need the rain here in So Cal. And I can listen to audio books at the gym too, but I have to actually drive there Anyway, the book that I got hooked on is REAPER’S STAND by Joanna Wylde. The male narrator on that book is hot! So hot! Now I’m listening to REAPER’ S PROPERTY. Unfortunately there’s only a female narrator on this one, and not the super sexy guy The point however, is audio books + exercise + stress relief for me.
What are your weekend plans?

So who went out shopping? I stayed home, I haven’t even started Christmas shopping yet. I look at a few online deals, but didn’t buy anything. Mostly I worked. I’m about a third of the way into my revisions. I’m telling you this book EXPOSING THE HEIRESS and CAGED MAGIC are two of the most frustrating books I’ve ever worked on. But I hit a turning point his weekend on revising EXPOSING THE HEIRESS, and most of that is due to the fact that I had coffee with Biker Witch (my sister) on Saturday. We were just hanging out, when I was telling her what was going on with this book.
And I blurted it out; I feel so sorry for Hunt and Alyssa, I’m having to force them together sexually before they are ready. That was just a random comment, but it stuck with me all night, and the next day I realized what I had to do to make it work.
The point of this story is IT’S GOOD TO WALK AWAY FROM A PROJECT WHEN WE’RE STUCK ON IT. I’ve been doing that more and more lately and it’s helping. Plus having a sister like Biker Witch who will leaving me alone about it when I don’t want to talk about a book (sometimes I need to NOT think about it) and then listen when I’m ready is pretty awesome too
And now to the other side of writing. So Wizard and I were watching some version of House Hunters that reminded me of a heroine I always wanted to write. So I tell Wizard about it, and he gets super excited. “You have to write this down.” And he’s throwing out ideas.
I’m like “Whoa dude! I have like four or five books to write before I can get to that.”
But Wizard has the solution to that. “So write faster.”
Seriously? LOLOL! I wish I could!
How was your weekend?

We had a great T-Day at Wizard’s brother’s house! Except that we missed BLB (youngest son) as he had other obligations. But otherwise it was awesome and relaxing. Both my brother and sister-in-law did a great job cooking and hosting a great day. Plus everyone was teasing Wizard about getting me a dog
This weekend, Wizard has plans both days which frees me up to work. I’m getting deep into this revisions on EXPOSING THE HEIRESS. I’m extremely torn between wanting to get this right for the more suspense/sexy line and needing to get back to CAGED MAGIC. Time is getting away from me (I blame Wizard! His retirement is making me too lazy!).
So how was your T-Day (for the U.S. folks) and what are your weekend plans?

First, we didn’t have Bailey which is a bummer, but we’ll go visit him soon
Okay so this weekend got kind of crazy.
1) I had to have my lawyer review a contract, that turned out to be very simple. I wish it was always this easy! I’ll tell you more on that later, but it’s NOT a new book. More of a part two of a previous contract. (Yeah, I know that sounds confusing).
2) I’m making progress on Linc and Risa’s book CAGED MAGIC. It’s hard work but I’m loving the challenge. I’m “all in” which means the book is taking up of my brain power and I’m fighting for the best way to tell this story, as well as the Ram and Ginny, and Eli’s story lines that are weaving through there.
3) Then I got an email from my editor on EXPOSING THE HEIRESS (book 3 in Once A Marine). They’ve decided to move the series to the Ignite line with has more suspense and more sex. Okay, so I’ve already ramped up the sex, but now a different editor would like to see even more suspense. Which isn’t a surprise to me, I more or less saw this coming and yet I’m still panicking and hyperventilating. I’ve committed to getting CAGED MAGIC to my freelance editor Feb 1st and I need to get this book revised while doing that, plus the holidays.
4) Wizard sees this panic and last night, he piled me into the car and we went to…The Kitchen Store. Nothing like buying a new sifter, two different sizes of muffin pans and cookie/muffin scoops to take my mind off work stress
Wizard knows I stress-bake and he benefits from this addiction. (I try to stress exercise too, but that’s happening less these days) Anyway, I had mentioned to him that I wanted to try pumpkin cheesecake muffins so he decided to “help” by making sure I had the tools. LOLOL!! But it really did help to get out and have a little fun.
5) Thanksgiving. As much as I enjoy doing the Thanksgiving holiday, this year I’m grateful it’s not at my house. We’re going to my sister in law’s and all I have to bring is deviled eggs. So easy! It’ll be fun.
How was your weekend? And what are you doing for Thanksgiving?

I totally forgot to post on Wednesday! So sorry. I blame Wizard confusing the heck out of me by being home All The Time! Well that, and I had my head down, completely focused on revising EXPOSING THE HEIRESS, which I finished and sent off yesterday. Now I’m getting ready for the NINC (Novelists Inc) conference that will be in Florida next week. I’m looking forward to that, but also hoping I can get a little writing on Linc’s book (CAGED MAGIC) done too. I want so much to move forward on that story, it’s driving me crazy.
I have another book/series bugging the crap out of me too. I’m determinedly ignoring that until I can get to it.
Let’s not even talk about the joys of switching over the health insurance. We’re going with Cobra, and it was supposed to be a seamless transition, bwhahaha!! Not. Anyway that’s been a challenge and time suck, but its straightened out, at least for the time being. Then I saw my RA doc, who is more worried about me handling the travel and walking at the conference that I am. And while it amuses me, I’m also seriously appreciate that he looks out for me and has for many years now. I’ve been very fortunate.
This weekend, I may go to my RWA chapter meeting (I’ve had a mild sinus/allergy thing, so it depends on that) and just getting stuff ready for conference.
I’ll post on Monday and maybe Wednesday before I leave. Wizard is being hilarious, planning his Junk Food Holiday while I’m gone. Although he’s concerned he won’t be able to figure out how to make coffee or turn on the oven…yeah, three college degrees and he can’t operate a coffeemaker? Really? (He’ll figure it out, I’m pretty sure he’s done it before!)
So what are you doing this weekend?
