My Chair Hates Me

My desk chair keeps sinking.

I keep fixing it, and “locking” it into place.

An hour later, I suddenly realize I’ve sunk again.

Do you think Wizard is doing this? Or is this the Universe telling me I need to lose more weight?

Oh wait, I know–my latte maker put the chair up to this.  I scolded my latte maker into working again (Told you, Wizard–yelling at appliances does too work!) And the latte maker talked my chair playing this maddening little game with me.

Any ideas how to make my chair behave?

Put a screw driver on your desk and propt up a sledge hammer next to your desk. The chair will get the point. I keep a small bottle of Holy Water in my desk to keep my computer in line.

Too bad my husband is imune to the Holy Water and the sledge hammer. He is so hard headed I would break the hammer on him.

    Or get a new chair.

Know a good place to get a new husband? Even a refurbished model would do. Nothing I have to break in too hard. My husband is kind of sinking like your chair. He is getting down about his health and his mood is really sapping my energy. I know it is hard to be positive when your sick but trying a bit more to enjoy what you have now would be a good thing.

    Sorry about the rant.

Glad to know the latte machine is working I would be lost without my Keruge for my tea.

I had a chair that did that once. I tried everything to get it to behave. The only answer I came up with was to get a new chair. Good to hear your latte maker is behaving again, though. Stupid inanimate objects… messing with our lives.

Kat, I would keep a sledgehammer, but chances are excellent, I’d just drop it on my own foot :-)

Sounds like both you and your husband are under a great deal of stress with his health. I’m so sorry, and feel free to rant here any day. We all understand.

B.E., I’m resisting getting a new chair, only because my kids got my this chair and were so proud. It’s a nice, really comfortable chair, until it gets in this mood. I think it has PMS :-)

I’m afraid I agree. It’s may be time for a new chair.
On a whim, take a look at the threads on the spool. You may be able to wrap plumbing tape around them and it may hold. And then there is always gorilla glue :).
    I wish you luck.

Jen, two words–DUCT TAPE! Works wonders. Or a new chair.

Glad the latte machine is behaving. I was afraid I would have to come over there and beat it into submission. Is it Friday yet?
