Weekend Roundup

Hi All,

I’m still sick, so I’m not much fun. Since this is the Internet, I’m going to keep it vague.  I’ve got a virus that’s kicking my butt, however I will recover and be fine. It’s just going to take time and patience.

My doctor insisted I take “Sick Leave.” Fortunately, I turned in my book and am now taking it easy.  I plan to resume working a few hours a day Tuesday or Wednesday, but we’ll see how it goes. I’m not on the Internet much either.

However, I would absolutely love to hear about how YOUR weekend went. Truly, I want to know. Share, please!

Oh Jenn I’m so sorry you’ve been taken so ill. I’m praying for you to have a speedy recovery. Whatever you do take care of yourself. I bet the boys have all come to see how they can help you. I hope Bailey has been over to offer his special medicine. They’re really is great healing power that comes from our four legged family members.

Our weekend was okay. We interned Joe’s ashes Saturday. Later we took Julie and Kristen out for dinner. They really are holding up well. Seems Julie is going to move in with Kris and sell the house. Too many memories and too much work.
Yesterday we grilled a turkey breast for dinner – YUM!

Take it easy and get better :).

Jen, so sorry to hear you are sick. I hope you feel better soon.

Weekend involved staying inside out of the horrible heat. 100+ for three days (and counting) is no way to spend a summer. We also need rain, bad. Watching the crops shrivel up as the days go by is leaving a lot of farmers worried.

Good news, started packing for my vacation. 5 days and counting.

Ack. So sorry a bug has been kicking your butt. You need some microscopic Wing Slayer Hunters to get in there and make those germs sorry they ever took up residence. Take as much time as you can to get better. :hugs:

I finished The Darkest Seduction by Gena Showalter this weekend. Not bad, but not her best. And I started Naked in Death by JD Robb (because I’ve never read anything by her – at least not under this name) and I’m committed to reading at least one book by some famous authors I’ve never read. Reading, writing, TV… that’s my life.

Viruses have been bad this year. Things that use to take just chicken soup and rest are lingering around. Take all the time you need to get completely well or you’ll just be feeling bad again.

My weekend has been crazy. My kids are with their grandparents in Ohio. You would think that would me I would get a little time and peace. It might have if my friend had not called to beg me to do some security work this weekend. 6 hours on sat and 12 on sunday. He only sends me to the really safe and boring sites. I think he is afraid of what I would do if I caught some one breaking in. He imagines the social worker in me coming out-

Me 5′ 4” 172 lbs yelling “Hey what do you think you are doing? Does your mom know you are here? Who is going to take care of your kids when you are in Jail? Here is my card call me at the office on Monday and I will see if we can’t get you into an education program so you don’t have to do this s**t.”

The only thing I had come by were Deer, turkeys and some beautiful owls. And they all ignored me.

The good part is that I earned enough money to pay for my ticket to the Readers appreciation weekend in Sept. :-D

I’m so sorry to hear about your virus. We’ve had everything come through the house this summer, and it’s lingering longer than normal, too. So not the way to spend the summer months. Rest and pamper yourself. Or better yet, have everyone else pamper you!

I spent the weekend at the ice rink getting the youngest ready for her first ice skating competition. The ISI Worlds are being held locally this year so it’s a big deal. It’s rather fun too. We’re excited as her team has already been asked to participate in the benefit exhibition. It’s quite an honor and they will get to meet Ashley Wagner the US ladies champion. It’s a good thing that Drill Sgt Girl isn’t world class potential because I soooo have the capacity to be a stage mom. I managing the tendency, but it’s not easy.

Oh, Jen! I’m so sorry you’re down. No, no bad virus! We need to zap it with some serious get-well magic! With appeltinis and cookies served by Wing Slayers! I hope Bailey is there to cuddle in with you and that you’re feeling better by next week!

I’m in the process of wrapping things up so I can fly out to Anaheim a week from today. 8-O ACK! So much to do and only a week. *headdesk*

Kat, congrats on earning the money so you can go to the Readers appreciation weekend.

B.E., can’t wait to hear what you think of NAKED IN DEATH. I applaud your commitment to trying authors you haven’t read before.

Labrat, we need rain, too! We finally got below 3 digit temperatures but there’s not much difference between 98 and 101. Enjoy the vacay!

Condolences again, Viki. I hope the family begins to heal a bit now. That final goodbye has always been the beginning for me. Good luck to your SIL. I think she’s making some wise decisions.

    Viki, thanks. I’m getting better.

Condolences again on Joe. It sounds like you’re all doing as well as anyone can. There’s no “easy” way through this.

Glad you enjoyed the turkey breast!

Labrat11, yay on your upcoming vacation!

I’ve been watching the drought on the news, seeing a bit of what farmers and ranchers are facing. I’m praying for good steady rain, but there’s doesn’t seem to be much in the forecasts.

Silver thanks. Bailey was here on my two worst days, and he was a sweetie. I’m going to be fine, and should make it to conference. You’ll have to excuse how I look though :-)
