Weekend Roundup!

Too. Much Fun!! That was our weekend. Well, Sunday was Fun Hangover and Clean Up Day, but the graduation pool party on Saturday rocked!

First off, the guy who catered the taco bar was fantastic! He came, set up, cooked and served beef and chicken tacos that were beyond awesome. Everyone loved them! He really was the hit of the party.

Now Wizard is claiming that Taco Guy was his idea. Umm, NOT!! Actually it was Middle Son who booked him for me.  It was also Middle Son who graduated with his B.A, and his cousin (my lovely niece!)

The desserts went over well.  I make Kaluha Chocolate Pound Cake, Lemon Pound Cake, Raspberry Hearts and a double batch of brownies.  Someone took pictures of all the desserts but I can’t figure out who it was, so all I have is one batch of the Raspberry Hearts after I made them (not even a good picture):

It was miserable hot but the pool water was bath-water warm, and utterly perfect! Once we ate, I changed and went in. I don’t care what I look like, I just wanted to swim and have fun with everyone. So I got in and CPA Son (Oldest) warns everyone, “Careful, my mom is a shark in the water.”  Total exaggeration on CPA Boy’s part. I’m an okay swimmer, but I never bite :-)

But my team did win in Pool Volleyball! Sure we were in the shallow end and the losers were in the deeper end…but all that matters is that we won!

It was an awesome day. I’m so proud of Middle Son and his amazingly smart and beautiful cousin.  What I particularly love is that they were so proud of each other they wanted to share their day together with a combined pool party.  Plus since my sister-in-law and I worked together to organize and prep for the party, it was even easier.

Now I am back to work. I have over a 100 pages of junk words, I need to get this book pulled together.

How was your weekend?

I’m so happy the party was much fun. I really like the taco bar idea. Those desserts all sound yummy too :).

You should be proud of middle son and his cousin. Excellent accomplishment on both of their parts and they’re really good people taking happiness in the others success. You have a great family :).

I think CPA boy may be on to something ;). It doesn’t matter which end of the pool you were in – YOU WON :-)!

Saturday we met up for dinner with our niece and husband who are visiting from Colorado Springs. We had such a nice time. When we have dinner out it usually lasts about and hour or so. We took 2 1/2 hrs with them.

Yesterday we went to Julie’s for a small family get together. She wanted to grill for us – and it was fantastic. I made a huge fruit salad and hub’s sister brought potatoes. Three items and it was still too much food. It was a good day.

Now I have to spend today busting butt doing all those weekend things I didn’t do – oh well.

    Have a wonderful day!

I’m so glad the party went well. Everything sounded fun and the food sounds delicious. Congrats to Middle Son and The Niece. =o)

I spent part of the weekend finishing up a read-through on the first draft of one of my books (Djinn 2) and am happy to report it’s really good. Whew. Didn’t get much in the way of re-writing done, though. I also did some yardwork. Other than that, I was a toad. Watched a bunch of mindless television – most of which I can’t remember – and screwed around on the web enjoying my actual high speed connection again.

Yea for Fun Friends and Frolic. I think that everyone needs to find reasons to celebrate more often.

My son came home from camp late Friday night and told me not to worry about his laundry because he was going to do it himself. I felt so proud of him becoming responsible like that until I realized if he did his own laundry I would have no excuse to hide in the laundry room and read for hours. Oh well.

I am glad he got it all done because the kids are going to my parents in Ohio for about 10 days. Yea my summer break is about to start. Now as a friend said this morning if I could find a way to send my hub away for the same time I would be really on vacation.

I totally forgot to mention… I’m pimping The Plus One Chronicles on Killer Chicks tomorrow. And Silver James is guest posting on The Guide today. Derp.

    I swear, if my head wasn’t attached…

Viki you had a busy weekend too! The dinner with your niece was clearly a huge success. So glad you got to see her and her husband.

The BBQ sounds fun too. Love those on a smaller scale like that.

I’d never heard CPA Boy say that about me before, made me laugh. I’m really an average swimmer but I have my sons fooled :-)

I’m doing the insane Monday thing like you are–so much to catch up on!

B.E., that’s great news that you are happy with your read through! And that you have your high speed internet back!

It’s good to relax on weekends. Now you’re ready to write!

Kat, that’s an amazing milestone for your son! You’re doing a great job!

Wow a 10 day break sounds fantastic. Maybe you can arrange some kind of guy’s trip for your hubby :-)

Congrats to your son and niece! I don’t kno0w what you mean not a good picture, they look good to me, I want one just looking at them.

Relaxing on the weekends helps doesn’t it. This way you can take a deep breath and when you get back to writing you can do so with a clear mind. Can’t wait until it’s done so I can read it  .

Don’t work too hard. We need your books to fill our imaginations, after all we do love them. :-P

I’m late! I wish I could lie and say I was doing something fun but I was up to my @$$ in code-gators. That would be HTML (on a website–NOT mine!) for those who’ve never worked with it. UGH!

So glad the party was so much fun! I love the idea of having a guy come cater tacos. :) And yummy desserts. Big high fives to Middle Son and Cousin!

Now get to work. Those 100 pages are better than you think they are. Just sayin’…. :-P

Amanda, the cookies looked better displayed on a plate than on the tray there :-)

Thanks on my son and niece! It was a nice weekend, and today mostly feels like Monday. Hope you’re having a good week!

Silver, done HTML coding and I feel for you. It’s tedious work and hard to find the mistakes. But you’re probably a LOT better at it than I was!

Nope on those pages. The first 30 to 40 page some potential, the rest is just random desperation.

    I’m really enjoying Rouge Moon!
