Weekend Roundup

Several things in the news lately have really gotten to me and I just wrote a long rant-blog about Every Choice Matters. Then I decided to spare you all my rambling and deleted it. Right now the important thing is to offer our support to those who need it rather than ranting. So I’m going to say this: My heart truly goes out to all who are suffering from the terror attack in Orlando Florida early Sunday morning. I can’t even comprehend that kind of hatred. For all of you in that area, I hope you and your loved ones are safe.

Otherwise my weekend was good. I did my first pass revision on the novella and am pretty happy with it at this moment. As I did my read through, I kept telling Wizard things like: “This is holding together. Who knew that after all the deleting, rewriting, and sleepless nights of agony, I might actually pull this off?”

Wizard did this super-patient, long-suffering look. “That would be everyone but you.”

Ha. Funny. I, of course, had an answer. “Maybe I’m wrong and my editor will hate it.”

For some reason, Wizard seemed to think that was a good time to pour some wine. And turn up the TV really loud. Men!

So now I’m doing another editing pass because I can’t help myself :-) But by next week I should be back to working on Savaged Dreams.

So how was your weekend?

Setting aside all news, my weekend was pretty good. I got my last garden bed done. Now we have either gardens or borders all the way around the house. This new one is on the south side, along the garage, and is filled with zinnias, marigolds, and coneflowers. Very cheerful blossoms in a variety of colors. =o)

Wizard is right. =op Now get ‘er done and ship it out to the editor.

Which is something I have to do myself. Get ‘er done. Wise words all the way around.

I worked all weekend and watched baseball. OSU is headed to Omaha for the College World Series. STL Cardinals swept the Pirates. I mentally typed THE END at 50,196 words on RDR#5. I was shooting for 48K so there’d be room to edit. Yeah…cutting words now, especially since a twist appeared at the end and I need to layer some things. Ah well. It’ll all come out in the wash. Which I need to do. Laundry. And housecleaning. Wednesday.

And yeah, Wiz is sorta right. ;) Poor yourself a glass of wine tonight and celebrate. Your editor will love it. She always does. :P

Okay, another cup of coffee and then back to work. Break time is over.

B.E., I’m jealous of your gardens, but at least you get out there and do it! I’d like to add some more potted flowers around my pool, but it’s a case of thinking and not doing.

I’m on it here, and you get on it there :-)

Silver, I’m sorry but I have to laugh on the word count because I do the exact same thing! I swear I’m incapable of coming in under a word count, and when I rewrite I always layer in more.

However you can do it!! Plus if you are stuck, your edit can find places to cut as well. It’s really not a lot, so I think he’d be happy to work with you on it.

I hope my editor likes the novella but I’m trying not to worry.

You are so funny. Wizard is right and very smart to pour wine before turning up the TV ;).

I’m very happy you got the 1st revisions on the novella done. We know that your editor will be pleased and constructive if needed. You seem to have a very good relationship and things tend to run smooth.

It was nasty hot here on Saturday and with the humidity it was a yuck day. So of course the youngest decides it’s time to power wash the deck. I mean it was 97F with humidity it felt like 104F. He was nuts. He stained it yesterday which was much nicer – 72F and no humidity.
Middle son got back from his western trip Saturday night and is trying to recover ;). Hubs and I didn’t do much ;).

    Have a great afternoon!

Viki, I agree was about Wizard :-) I try not to but him too much, and he’s gotten very good about not asking too often too.

And OMG how did your son do that in the humidity? We usually get a fairly dry heat here, but even mild humidity does me in. He’s a tough guy :-)

Hope Middle son had a great trip!

And you mentioned being tired last week so I hope you got some rest over the weekend.
