Friday Five

Happy Friday! Here’s five random things about my week:

  1. There’s not enough hours in the day, and not enough coffee to keep me going! Also, insomnia sucks. And so does Wizard being bored and stuck on limited activity. Just under two weeks to go, then he’ll start physical therapy.
  2. I had a good 24 and a 1/2 minutes of uninterrupted writing yesterday. I’ve backed up for the 844th time to try another detour, and at this moment, I think I’ve finally chosen the right path. But stay tuned, that could change! We all know I’m directionally challenged, both in real life travel and in writing my books.
  3. I’m helping out with two wedding showers, which is a little bit of work and a whole lot of fun. Life is about celebrating the big moments of those we love, right? This goes in the good column!
  4. I’m meeting Biker Witch for coffee today. I’m leaving Maggie home in charge of keeping Wizard out of trouble. She’d better succeed or there will be no more treats. Okay I’m lying, she gives me her sad look and gets pretty much whatever she wants :-)
  5. And don’t think you’re escaping Baby Slayer Time! First an update, he’s gained 2 lbs and grown 1 1/2 inches in a month! He’s just turning three months old this weekend. If you need a smile, here he is talking to his pony.

So that’s my five random things, now it’s time to share yours. Have a great weekend!

Aww, Baby Slayer! Yay for time off with Biker Witch! And for wedding showers and for writing! Yes, Insomnia does suck and so does boredom. Boo.

    1) I’m in a similar place with my writing. I’m totally not sure I’m going in the right direction. But I’m pushing through like a Saint Bernard in a snow storm.
    2) Started another new-to-me author/book last night. I’m not sure I like the MC. She reminds me of someone from my past who… well, let’s just say I wasn’t sorry to hear she’d passed on. But I’m pushing through with this, too. I’m hoping the MC gets more sympathetic at some point.
    3) I haven’t exercised in two days and I feel crappy. That’ll learn me.
    4) I’m up to 30 minutes of exercise followed by a 1 mile walk now. And I can take the steep hill by our house without stopping. Slowly, of course, but I used to stop at least a couple times going up it.
    5) It’s Friday, but it doesn’t feel like Friday because yesterday felt like Friday. Blerg.

*dies from teh kyootness* Baby Slayer for the win! Crossing fingers you’re on the right path. I know how that goes. Glad Wiz is bored. That means he’s healing. ;) Biker Witch and coffee is also a win. And I’m all for celebrating every chance! So…my five.

    1) Insomnia does indeed suck. I’m averaging 3-4 hours of semi-sleep a night. Argh.

    2) I thought I’d have this stupid WIP done by today. Reference the previous point. My brain is sludge.

    3) Rereading Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling series has reminded me what an incredible series builder she is. Someone should teach a master’s class on her.

    4) It’s too damn hot. Period.

    5) Tomorrow is T-ball and thank goodness Stormy plays the 8:00 game! We’ll be inside before the real heat and humidity hits.

    Have a great weekend, everyone!

    5. Baby Slayer is SO cute!
    4. Have a great time with Biker Witch tomorrow. I have faith in Maggie ;).
    3. Have fun planning the showers. That’s a ton of work but also a ton of fun ;).
    2. 24 1/2 minutes is good. There has been so much on your plate that clearing the mind for re-plotting and such is more work than normal. Take it in small steps and it will all come together.
    1. Insomnia is terrible. I don’t sleep. I get maybe 4 hours of interrupted sleep on a good night. Wish we could all find a cure that works.

1a. Today is our last low humidity/heat day for a while and I’m soaking it in :).
2a. Harrison is beginning to crawl. He doesn’t go too far before he decides it’s easier to leap like a frog  .
3a. The honeymooners are off to visit my mom and step dad for the weekend. My folks are SO excited.
4a. Tomorrow is hubs sisters 50th wedding anniversary. We’re all getting together to celebrate during the afternoon.
5a. Harrison has invited us over Sunday to celebrate Father’s Day and use the new Green Egg he bought his dad.

I hope you have a fantastic weekend. Please wish Wizard a Happy Father’s Day!

B.E., I think everyone I know has, at least, occasional insomnia. Thanks on Baby Slayey!

    1) Okay, I need to find my inner St. Bernard, LOL!
    2) Sounds like you and the MC of your current read are never going to be friends. Hope she at least gets easier to spend time with in the book. I’ve had MC’s push my buttons like that.
    3) Exercise really does help us feel better! I know this, doesn’t mean I always live it, LOL!
    4) Yay!! You’re doing great on your exercise! Especially going up the hill!
    5) My yesterday felt like Friday too. Not sure what today feels like :-) Bloaterday an option?

Hope you have a great weekend!

Silver, so true on Wizard being bored. This is the long stretch right now.

    1) Wishing you a full night of sleep…every single night!
    2) Ugh, sludge brain and deadlines are not a good mix. Doubling down on my spells that you get some restful sleep!
    3) Yes. This.
    4) And this. Hot, Humid, Cranky.
    5) Hope you have a coolish morning to enjoy Stormy and T-Ball.

Have a great weekend, and a Happy Father’s Day!

Viki, I’m with you, I wish we could ALL find insomnia cures too. I would be fine with a good six hours. Thanks on Baby Slayer, and the book, and all things :-)

    1) We’re having mildish humidity compared to you and I can’t deal with it. Huge respect for those of you who deal with it! I’d rather be cold!
    2) Harrison must be so cute when he frog-leaps!! I love that imagine! The boy has places to be, and things to do and crawling just isn’t getting the job done.
    3) I love that they are going to visit your mom and step dad! I know how much it means to my mother in law when my kids (and especially Baby Slayer) go see her. You raised him right!
    4) Huge congrats to your sister-in-law and her husband! 50 years of marriage is an amazing and should be celebrated! Hope it turns out the be a great party!
    5) Harrison was so thoughtful to invite you :-) Hmm, is the new Green Egg a BBQ? I feel like I should know this, did I pass or fail?

Happy Father’s Day to your husband and your son!
