Friday Five

Happy Friday! Let’s do five random things about our week.

  1. Maggie went to the groomers/boarding place yesterday and got a bath. I could, and have, given her baths at home. But I’m not cutting her nails. That scares me.
  2. The book is driving me crazy. But at least I can write a bit more than I was able to do which is great.
  3.  People who start fires are assholes.
  4. I ordered another potential dress for middle son’s wedding because…I’m undecided. LOL! I’ll figure it out but at least one dress is going to be returned.
  5. Okay so I’ve debated telling this. When Maggie and I walk in the early morning, we’ve encountered the same homeless person three times now. This is really unusual up where we live just because it’s not near anything useful, and its a bit of a hike up some fairly steep streets. Just so you know, I’m careful and aware that this could be dangerous, and I’ll be varying my route. But that’s not why I’m telling you. This guy just didn’t make sense to me. The past two times I saw him, he was sleeping or pretending to be. But this morning, he was sitting on the curb with his pack next to him. He was hunched in on himself and reading what appeared to be a text book and waiting, but I don’t know what for–a ride maybe? He was also younger than I’d expected too. The image just haunts me. My heart wants to find out the story, but my common sense isn’t going to allow that.

That was my week. Now it’s your turn to share your Friday Five :-) Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Yeah, cutting pet nails is always a little sketchy. It’s hard enough with a cat where you can actually see the quick. I can’t imagine with a dog. Yay for writing more! You’ll whip it into shape. Yes, people who start fires are assholes. LOL about the dress. And yes, proceed with caution. I mean, he could be perfectly fine, but he could also be out of his mind. Better to err on the side of caution. Do you carry pepper spray? I have mine in my pocket at all times when I’m outside the house. (Yep, even in the yard because I’m heard stories about people getting jumped in their yards even in the middle of nowhere.)

    1) I got a peek at the cover for Sleeping Ugly last night. So awesome.
    2) We were out at the lake yesterday and saw a mink. It just plopped into the water and started swimming across. I lost sight of it about halfway across, but there were no boats right then, so I’m sure the crossing went fine.
    3) Some wayward deer ate my lilies all the way to the ground. How rude.
    4) They’re having meetings to determine whether to keep my favorite park open. It’s not making enough money to pay for its upkeep. Well, duh. Last year’s park hosts were turds and they were driving people away with their turdness. If they close it, I hope they don’t also lock it. My favorite place to fish is a closed park they didn’t lock.
    5) Our neighbor is built on a loop. When I walk I usually go clockwise, but yesterday, I went counterclockwise. Man, did that kick my butt. Feel the burn, baby. Funny how that worked. Same terrain – all hills and curves – but backwards was so much harder. I guess it depends on what you’re used to. Gotta change things up every now and then.

Pretty Maggie! Yay for writing more and you’ll start to kick the book’s butt soon. People who start fires should taste their own “medicine.” I’m making book on how many dresses you get (and return) until you decided on The One. Maybe take Wiz with you occasionally until you see the guy again. Let him get a look, and maybe with him as backup, you can approach the guy. Offer a bottle of water or something, especially since it’s so hot. If he’s not right, call him in once you are clear. Now, my five:

    1) We got some rain today. Not much, but there’s a chance for more over the weekend. Cooper got out and laid under the down spout. The whole house smells of wet dog now. Considering the drought, I don’t mind the “fragrance.” ;)

    2) I’m making progress on UaAM. Since I have 3 days, yeah…I need major push to finish.

    3) Lawyer Guy has started a “treasure chest” for Liam. We give him old coins, foreign coins, buttons, and the like. When the two of them are alone together, they go through the stuff and LG tells him something about that piece of treasure. It’s so cute.

    4) I think I figured out how to post to Instagram from my desktop–which has all the cool memes and photos. That means I might actually start posting there again.

    5) It’s Friday. I’m not sure how it’s Friday already, but it is. This too shall pass. ;)

    Have a great weekend!

    1. Lucky Maggie getting her nails done and a professional bath :). I could never do the dogs nails either – scary.
    2. Sorry the book is driving you nuts but it is good that you can write now.
    3. Agree on fire starters – assholes  !
    4. Ha ha on the third dress. I’d do the same thing.
    5. Understand the curiosity but you are wise to stay clear of him. He could be fine but when you’re alone is no time to find out.

1a. Friday is Spunk nail trimming day. People are shocked at how he sits and lets me do it when he won’t be held EVER other than nail time.
2a. The generator was supposed to run it’s weekly diagnostics and didn’t. Over crank light on. Called to get service and at 2 PM and they’re closed until Monday – go freakin’ figure. Hope we don’t loose power. When you’re on a well you need electricity to flush ;).
3a. Hubs is getting a summer cold and hid it from Harrison’s mom ;). She would ban him.
4a. Should cool down to the upper 70’s over the weekend with lower humidity. Looking forward to it. Sure hope the heat out your way breaks soon.
5a. Finally going to celebrate newest DIL’s birthday (only 2 weeks late) on Saturday at an Indian restaurant. She loves Indian food and it’s only a mile from their new apartment, so it should be great.

I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

B.E., I used to carry pepper spray but it expired. Now I have a piece of PVC pipe Wziard cut for me that I carry. It’s more in case of dog or coyote attack, but it show the two legged type I’m not a passive target. However I can get more pepper spray. Okay now for your five:

    1) Can’t wait to see your cover!
    2) How cool to see a mink.
    3) Are you sure it was deer and not bunnies? My rabbit ate my flowers. I’m sure pretty deer are just as capable of doing it too.
    4) I feel for you on the park fight. We’ve been through versions of that here.
    5) Yep, reversing the route can make a big difference! Yay you for doing it though!

    Have a great weekend!

Silver, not a bad idea once Wizard is up to that kind of walk. Okay lets move onto your five:

    1) A little rain helps, and LOL on Cooper laying under down spout.
    2) Hope the words came fast and easy today and all weekend.
    3) LG’s treasure chest for Sprout is awesome! I love it and he’ll keep it forever.
    4) I keep swearing I’m going to get on Instagram, but…yeah. Glad you are active there again!
    5) Friday keeps arriving week after week :-)

I know you’re on a brutal deadline but hope you have a good weekend in there too!

Viki, I’m listening to my wiser side :-) Okay now for you:

    1) How cute that he sits still for you to cut his nails. You’re braver than I am!
    2) I’m crossing my fingers that your power doesn’t go out, and that your generator is not an expensive fix.
    3) Wow Hubs is brave! Hopefully he fights off the cold before it takes hold. I don’t know if that’s even possible but it seems like the body could do it.
    4) We have a few degree cool down coming, but with higher humidity. Enjoy your 70 degree temps!
    5) Hope daughter in law has a great late birthday celebration! It sounds like fun!

    Have a great weekend!
