Friday Five

This week is definitely better than last! Here’s here’s five random things about my week:

  1. A few weeks ago I ordered a dress from Dressbarn for my niece’s shower. It arrived crumpled and with a button loose. I washed it according to manufacturer’s directions to get some of the wrinkles out, and the hem fell out during the wash. I took it to the cleaners, and they fixed it. I contacted Dressbarn, described what happened, gave them my order number and attached a copy of the cleaner’s receipt for the repair. They refunded my purchase price! I am so pleased with their customer service!
  2. I saw my GP doctor. First, I have raw spots in my mouth and throat. He took a look, and there’s no infection yet. He thinks the smoke from the fire aggravated my mouth and throat. He gave me an antibiotic prescription to only fill if I get worse. I’m all for avoiding antibiotics until I absolutely need them.
  3. Then we talked about my neck. Okay it’s not pretty. Well what he actually said, “It’s pretty bad”, and “this is pretty serious.” Um…duh? LOL! He’s arranging a second opinion, which he said he always highly recommends for major cervical (neck) surgery. I’m looking at a possible double discectomy with fusion in my neck. My GP spent a lot of time with me, both answering questions, and asking his own questions which helped me get my head around this a little more. Right now, my plan is get the second opinion from the spine surgeon (so that we have both a neurosurgeon and spine surgeon looking at same set of facts), and if they concur, then I’ll consider it. If they disagree, I’ll resort to an alternative therapy:
  4. My poor book got pushed aside again this week with fire cleanup (ash is still falling) and various things. Today should be better. But I hunted down and ordered two gifts that I’d have done last week if not for broken A/C, fires, etc, and I found the last thing I desperately needed for my almost daughter-in-law’s bridal shower coming up in just over a week. Now I’m crossing my fingers that everything is delivered on time. I’m finally feeling more in control of that part of my life.
  5. And guess who is five months old today??

I love this little guy so much!!!

So that’s my Friday Five. Now it’s time for you to share yours! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

OMG, so much cute! Definitely a heart-breaker. And he looks like he’s such a good baby. I’m so glad Dress Barn did right by you. Ugh for the mouth and the neck thing. Positive thoughts winging your way! And you’ll get to the book once things even out. :hugs:

    1) I’m pushing the edits for Sleeping Ugly. I’m in the home stretch now, with only the eradication of crutch words and formatting left to do. I’m pretty hopeful about meeting my deadline and having this out tomorrow.
    2) I posted a snippet of the book on my blog this morning. My editor loves it and hopes everyone else will, too. But it’s always a gamble. :fingers crossed:
    3) Speaking of gambles, I did not win the lottery last night.
    4) Last night, we watched the radar as a big storm came down out of Kansas and another big storm came up out of Oklahoma. They hit each other west of here and together they shifted away from here. We got a little wind and maybe a sprinkle of rain.
    5) If you watch Live PD, when they show Greene County, MO, that’s about an hour north of me. I cringe at the antics of the people so close to where I live, but then I remind myself that it’s the city. Fewer morons down here and a lot less crime.

B.e., he is a good baby :-) He’s super active, so he’s going to wear his parents out, but he’s a really happy little guy. On my neck, last week we were shocked, now I’m getting a handle on it. Now let’s talk about you!

    1) Go you!! You’re really getting on top of this edit. Those crutch words are so annoying. You’ll make your deadline!
    2) I’ll go read the snippet, hold on…I’m back and loved it!! I wished you had a pre-order link cuz I don’t want to forget to one click my copy of SLEEPING UGLY! Hurry!
    3) Dang, I didn’t win either. What’s up with that???? I have medical bills and dreams, you have life bills and dreams…no not fair!
    4) Storm Watch! I’ve never been in a tornado so that would scare me! Glad you weren’t in either on of their paths.
    5) Live PD sounds addicting!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Cuteness overload! What a cutie-patootie! :D Dressbarn is awesome. Ugh on the neck. :? The book will get done when it gets done but yay on the gifts! Okay, my five…

    1) I’m having serious problems with the revisions. I don’t want to change the story and I’m fighting it. That said, there’s nothing else to be done but suck it up. I’m going to do that today and this weekend. Or else.

    2) Our temps have dropped, which is good, but the humidity is so high, it feels like a steam bath outside. The boys find the nearest floor vents and lay in front of them, thereby blocking the AC. Glad your AC is back, BTW!

    3) The vacuum died. Had to buy a new one. I’m about ready to write nastygrams to all the manufacturers to explain why their designs totally suck–and not in a good way–when it comes to long-haired dogs who blow their coats at least twice a year.

    4) I’m thinking about writing a serial novel and putting the chapters in my newsletter. Which I hardly ever send out. And have no time to write anyway. But…I’m thinking about it. A lot. Instead of, you know…writing.

    5) After trying to come up with five random things, I’ve decided I live a very boring life. And I’m okay with that.

    Have a great weekend!

    1. Love it when a company steps up. Dress Barn did good and you did good contacting them.
    2. The smoke and the stress you’ve been under may very well have caused the sores. I avoid antibiotics too.
    3. Wow, that’s a lot to take in. A news talking head just had surgery on the same order as you describe. She had the network doctor help her find the best surgeon. They said that what the surgeon does is very difficult and an art form. She’s been off for 4 weeks so far but healing well.
    4. The poor book will just have to stay back and let you get fixed. I hope everything arrives on time.
    5. Baby Slayer is just so cute and look how big he is :)!

1a. My actual birthday was low key. Had coffee and a massage.
2a. It’s still yucky humid here. It keeps pretending to rain.
3a. Hubs hurt his foot in bed the other night and is hobbling around except when he goes to Harrison’s. When he’s there he has nothing wrong – MEN – goof balls.
4a. Cassie did my hair Monday and the color is my favorite so far. She just did different high lights but I love them.
5a. I don’t have Amazon Prime so I often have youngest get stuff on his Prime account for me. I’ve noticed that when I send him a link and then he orders it the price goes up $3 to $4 bucks. Prime is not all that wonderful :(!

I hope you have a great weekend :)!

Silver, thanks on all. Little Baby Slayer owns my heart! My neck…well…I shouldn’t have been surprised. I want this book done, I want them to have they’re HEA. Now for your five:

    1) Sympathies on having to change the story. Hugs.
    2) Humidity is awful! And it creates unstable air, that **I think** helps spawn things like tornadoes or am I wrong? I can really understand the dogs laying in front of air vents, but they need to share!
    3) The vacuum makers deserve a nasty-gram!
    4) Oh the temptation of a serial novel for our newsletters! I get it. We want so much to give our loyal readers bonus material, plus the ideas! But times :-( So yeah, I know.
    5) Your life is NOT boring! I feel like, aside from last week, mine is. But your life is great!

Hope you have a good and productive weekend!

Viki, I think that ‘s the first time I’ve contacted a company like Dressbarn. It was all in the timing, Ithink. I’d just picked up the dress when I got an email asking me about my experience–so I told them :-) Well that’s good on the news anchor. I knew it was bad, I just didn’t want to admit how bad off I am :-( But Baby Slayer makes us soooo happy! Plus two weddings to look forward to! Life is mostly good. Now for you

    1) Hope you enjoyed your coffee and massage! And FYI you deserve a Big Loud Celebratory Birthday!
    2) Humidity sucks. It’s humid here but nothing like what you’re going through. LOL on “pretending to rain”
    3) MEN is right! Wizard does that same thing. Of course, we women are never guilty of that. Hope hubs foot heals soon!
    4) Aww, Cassie is a treasure! Glad you love your hair!
    5) Amazon Prime is getting less valuable and costing more money in my opinion. Sigh. I know what you mean.

I really hope you have a great weekend!!!
