Friday Five
TGIF!!! This week feels incredibly short, like I woke up Monday, sneezed and suddenly it’s Friday. I guess maybe it’s just vacation hangover? I don’t know. So here’s five random things about my week:
- Turbo was here on Wednesday. We had way too much fun with him. And Turbo is a smart little guy who knows how to get Grandpa to give him potato chips. It was too cute. Wizard is a total pushover with Turbo. Okay, yeah, so am I, LOL!
- I will finally see my doctor Monday morning to get the shot for the tendonitis in my right elbow. It’s bugging the heck out of me right now. But the shot usually works within 24 hours.
- We ate too much on vacation and I’m sure I came home with a couple extra pounds. Plus I won’t be able to get to the gym until Wednesday due to other commitments. I know what I need to do…I just don’t wanna.
- Yesterday, I did a bunch of research for my book, and all I got for it is aggravation. To say that California sentencing laws are complex is a massive understatement. I could probably go to law school in less time than it’s taking me to sort this out.
- And this weekend we are celebrating Special K (my daughter-in-law, and Turbo’s mom)! She is graduating with her master’s degree in an I.T. related field. I am incredibly proud of her. She was just about half way through when Turbo was born, and despite having a newborn, she kept at it until she finished!
So that’s my week, now I’d love to hear about yours!

I’m so glad you’re back. I miss stopping here when you’re away. As always, yay for Turbo Time! And for getting some pain relief! And for eating too much on vacation (even if it results in extra pounds)! Ugh about the research stuff. And lastly, way to go, Special K!
1) I had something to put here, but then I forgot it.
2) Today is my anniversary. Tomorrow is my birthday. 15 & 49.
3) Yes, I made him marry me the day before my birthday. Actually, he was flying to Salt Lake City to visit me and we decided to get married while he was there. Getting married in Utah is almost as easy as Vegas. No waiting period – just two stops and we were married. Then he flew home to Colorado and I wrapped things up in Utah before moving to be with him.
4) Still no baby deers, but it’s getting close now.
5) I’m going to try creating a dessert today. Brownie, peanut butter, chocolate frosting. Should be interesting.

Chickened out on the new dessert and went with chocolate peanut butter marble cake instead.

What an excellent week, Jen! Well…except for the aggravation thing. Sometimes, when it comes to the law, you just have to remember that we’re writing fiction and as long as we’re close, 99.999% of the readers won’t know the difference. My five are…
1. My peony bush outdid itself this year, making up for all the barren years. LOLOL I have four full blooms and more coming.
2. I have a chest cold. It sucks and I’ve spent too much time in bed to accomplish much.
3. It’s the “Road to Oklahoma City” time! That would be NCAA softball regionals. Both #13 OSU and #1OU are hosting regionals. I’d love to see the Cowgirls make it to the WCWS. OU? Yeah…be a miracle on some team’s part of the Sooner’s don’t make it.
4. Weather is still being weird. Cold. Hot. Cold. Hot and stormy. Rain. I blame it for my cold.
5. We’re keeping Stormy tonight so Only and Baseball Boy can go to the end-of-year baseball banquet and not have to wrangle the wild child. He’s spending the night. Fun times.
Have a great weekend, everyone!

1. How wonderful that Turbo was able to come visit Wednesday. You must have missed him and been thrilled to see him. Grandpa’s are pushovers :).
2/4. Good! The sooner you get that shot the better. I don’t think the pain helps much with concentrating on your research.
3. I bet the food was fantastic and worth a little extra workout now that you’re back. You have to indulge now and then.
5. Congratulations Special K.! That’s something to be really proud of.
1a. Hubs and youngest birthdays are now over and I can relax for the weekend :). Though dinner at The Capital Grille was great.
2a. It’s going to get hot this weekend. Time to change the feather comforter to the bedspread ;).
3a. Hubs is thinking of buying a BMW X5. He’s going to trade in his SUV.
4a. Had to pay the 6 month car ins bill today. Holy Cow was that insane. It seems to go up $60 every 6 months.
5a. I’m going to try the Fuller brush crystal window cleaner this weekend. I have a few windows that are rounded and don’t tilt in so I hope this will get them.
Have a great weekend!

B.E, Thank you, B.E., that made me feel good that you’re glad I’m back! Now for you:
1) LOL! All through the week, I think, I’ll put that in my Friday Five–then I forget it.
2) Happy Anniversary and Happy Birthday!!!! I hope you have a wonderfully special birthday you deserve!
3) I didn’t know it was that easy to marry in Utah. And, honestly, the way you did it is just as valid, and a lot more financially sound, that the way so many people get married today. I wish you and Hubby many more years of joy and friendship!
4) I’m getting as excited as you for the baby deer!!
5) Okay the chocolate peanut butter marble cake sounds delicious, although the brownies version also sound yummy. Is the cake for your birthday or just because you feel like baking?
Happy Anniversary and Birthday weekend!

Silver, that’s exactly what I’m telling myself about the law too. I think I know what I’ll do, it’s just a matter of diving in and doing it. I have commitments through tomorrow that are distracting me too. Okay now you:
1) Your peony must have been saving up to surprise you this year!
2) Dang, I’m so sorry about the chest cold. I assume your coughing, and to me, that’s the worst kind. Sending all the healing waves your way! I’m always surprised that we haven’t gotten sick after being trapped on an airplane with various recycled germs for a total of 12 hours.
4) The weather sure doesn’t help our resistance to colds. It’s definitely irritating my allergies, and irritating my contacts which is unusual for me. You have more extreme weather changes in Oklahoma.
5) Stormy will keep things interesting tonight. Hope he lets you get a little rest. I bet his parents are very grateful to have the night free to enjoy the banquet and time together.
I hope you feel better soon, and don’t get sicker since chest colds can morph into ugly things like bronchitis, and that LG doesn’t get sick. Have fun with Stormy!

Viki, it was awesome to see Turbo, and to see that he recognized us and our house. He’s been recognizing us, but I always worry when we don’t see him for a week or two The tendonitis is just annoying/tiresome on the computer, the sharper pain is stupid stuff like picking up a full coffeepot because I forget about it. I need to stop “treating” myself, LOL.
1) I’m glad you guys had a good time at The Capital Grille. I know exactly what you mean about being able to relax when the birthdays are over. Enjoy!
2) I know the heat is not your favorite thing.
3) Nice car!!!
4) No kidding on car insurance. It’s painful.
5) I hope the Fuller Brush Crystal Cleaning system works! Wizard tried one type, and it was okay, but not up to his standard. But I don’t want him climbing to do the second story windows anymore, and I’m not good with heights, so it’s either that or hire someone. Be careful cleaning the windows. Which also makes me think–have your bruises healed from the fall on tile? I know they were deeper since they took longer to surface.
I hope you have a great weekend!

I guess I made the cake as a Birthiversary dessert. (Hubs calls it the Annibirthday.) And because I felt like baking. =o)
I posted the recipe on my FB page, if you’re interested. It’s kind of a bear to make, but worth it. It turned out a little dense, but super yummy.

B.E., I hopped over and saw the recipe. It looks good, and looks worth the effort.
I’d probably vote for Annibirthday over Birthiversary only because I can pronounce the first one easier than the second
Happy Birthday!
