Friday Five

TGIF!! You all know the drill–it’s the day we share five random things about our week. Here’s mine:

  1. I can brush my teeth without pain! My elbow has improved. It’s a work in progress, but much better and a huge relief.
  2. The weather needs to STOP messing with people! Here in So Cal, yesterday was just depressing. Cold, dreary and drizzle-wet. It’s been raining off and on in a totally weird end-of-May weather pattern. But other parts of the country, like Oklahoma and Missouri have suffered severe weather spawning tornadoes and tragedies. Then I saw a headline predicting at least 4 major hurricanes this season. I didn’t even read the article…ENOUGH.
  3. Wizard is going in a four-day outdoor Radio Control Car Race with his friends Thursday — Sunday, and the weather is really dampening his, and his friends, fun. I know this is minor in the scheme of weather problems facing others, but this is a big race he’s been looking forward to for months. Yesterday they a couple of rain delays and then had to call the race early. Come on weather–let the guys and gals play with their toys!
  4. I’ve spent days staring at my book. This time, while it looks non-productive, what I’m really doing is mentally revising. All my writer friend’s excellent critiques are starting to take shape, and I see a path. Of course, it’s not an easy path, but I either write the best book I can, or why bother?
  5. Saturday I’m meeting a friend for lunch and fun-shopping. I’m looking forward to that!

That’s my Friday Five. Now I’d love to hear yours!

Have a great weekend!

Mother Nature is not happy. Sorry Wiz’s fun is not so fun. YAY for the elbow and the book thinks and fun shopping. Okay my five.

    1. Missing Cooper.

    2. OSU Cowgirls beat the “reigning” national champs, Florida State in Game 1 of the super regionals. OSU Cowboys are in the Big 12 baseball finals and have an automatic bid to NCAA baseball tournament.

    3. Crazy weather here but me and mine aren’t truly affected. Nearby communities are and the news is sad.

    4. I’m enjoying my re-listen to Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling series. Her world-building and over-all plot arc always blows me away. I wish she’d teach a master class or at least let us lesser beings peek into her brain.

    5. I got copies of THE COWGIRL’S LITTLE SECRET for the Korean release. The cover is a small bucket of lavender/light purple irises and two packages. 8-O But totally cool to know it’s out there. Who knows, maybe it’ll be a best seller in Seoul!

And that’s ending on a high note. Have a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend, everyone!

    1. Nice that you can finally brush your teeth without pain.
    2. Yes, the weather is insane.
    3. Poor Wizard having the rain mess up his weekend of fun. Hope it gets better.
    4. Totally understand staring at the book. Planning can be like that ;).
    5. Have a wonderful time tomorrow with your friend.

1a. I think I’m taking a bunch of books to the library to donate tomorrow.
2a. Hubs and I are going to go to the west side (near Harrison) tomorrow morning and get a poppy seed roll from the Ukrainian bakery. We’re both Ukrainian and love it.
3a. I bought Harrison a bubble mower and hubs took it with him this morning to babysit. Just got a cute video of the kid “mowing” the hardwood floor :). They are now outside and Harrison is having a blast with the bubbles.
4a. Youngest is going hiking and camping in upper Michigan this weekend. I hope the weather holds up for them.
5a. Pizza and wine night – YES!!!!

Silver – I am so very sorry about Cooper. I had a cat for 21+ years and now I have Spunk, but I still miss the first one like crazy. They are always in our hearts.

Have a really nice Memorial Day weekend.

Silver, today Wizard is having a lot more fun. And I’m annoyed at this blasted book and setting up Liza’s goals better. But let’s move on to you:

    1) Hugs. The world is a sadder place right now for you, LG, the other dogs and all who loved him. But he’s waiting to see you all again.
    2) Cowgirls and Cowboys, we’re talking college softball and baseball right?
    3) I’m glad you were spared, but so sorry about the nearby communities. I saw some pictures, definitely sad.
    4) That would be awesome if Nalini did that. Maybe she has and I missed it, but she really knows how to build worlds and characters.
    5) Congrats on the Korean translation!

Wishing you the best weekend possible under the circumstances, and I hope you’re feeling better from the cold/flu/lung-crud.

Viki, honestly brushing my teeth left handed was a struggle :-) And Wizard appears to be having a much better day. He was first in the first qualifying race. He’s very happy.

    1) I love donating books!
    2) Enjoy your poppy seed roll.
    3) Harrison! Sounds like the bubble mower is a hit. I hope grandpa told him that grandma bought it :-)
    4) I hope Yougest has a great time hiding and camping. Keeping my fingers crossed the weather cooperates. Do we EVER stop worrying about our kids????
    5) Yay, no cooking for you and wine!

Hope you have a great Memorial Day weekend.

Totally brainfarted out this morning that it was, in fact, Friday and you would be posting. Derp.

So glad to hear your elbow is doing better. Yeah, the weather kinda stinks, but the last two storms missed us and tonight’s should go way north. Sorry the weather is harshing Wizard’s fun. Mentally revising counts as writing. It’s hard work. Yay for tomorrow’s fun day!

    1) The baking spree continued this week with a loaf of coconut bread. It’s so fluffy.
    2) My lilies are blooming. Despite the harshness of the storms, they’re watering all my gardens for me right now.
    3) The rabbits are back for the summer. I’m not sure where they go from fall until now, but they’re back.
    4) I really need to get back to writing. Or thinking about writing. Or something.
    5) No baby deer yet. Should be any time now the does will disappear for a bit and come back thinner. About three-four weeks later, they should start bringing the fawns to the yard.
